I stared trying to take in the girl staring back at me through the mirror. She has long frizzy ginger hair tied into a ponytail and dull green eyes. Her high waisted jeans accentuated every horrible part of her; her too thick thighs and huge ass, her too long legs; why can’t she be like every other petite girl? She’s stuck at a staggering 5’8. Her waist; my waist is curved but not curvy enough.

I sighed and put on a maroon crop hoodie; at least that should draw the attention away from my thighs and to my only good body part; my toned stomach. I took a deep breath and stepped onto the digital scale I left in my room and closed my eyes then peeked at the numbers 48.2 kilograms. I prefer to look at kilograms; it makes me feel better than if it is in pounds. I might need to do some extra hours of practice today.

I sighed deeply grabbed my phone and my bag and left the room.

“Hi mum.” I said placing a kiss on her cheek

“Good morning Tasha.” she said with her usual beaming smile.

My mum is what you would call a typical Hollywood beauty. She has this really silky, butter blond hair and the most beautiful set of blue eyes you would ever see. I’m told I look like my dad; whatever he looked like. He died when I was 5; just a year after my little sister was born

“Are you even going to eat anything?” mum asked as she saw me grabbing my car keys making me shake my head “Tasha you have to eat something.”

         “I’m not hungry mum.”

   “You’re so skinny.”

“Thanks for the compliment.” I drawled out

“I didn’t mean it that way.”

           “You implied it.”

“I’m sorry; it’s just that you need to eat; you need some fat.”

“I have enough fat on my thighs.”

“There’s barely any fat on there.” mum reasoned

   “Says you who’s a size 4.”

“Size isn’t a death sentence Natasha.” she said with a sigh “You just have big bones.”

“Where’s Nat?” I asked ignoring her statement

 “She’s eating.”

“We’re late; she needs to hurry up.”

“If you won’t eat at least let her.”

“Tilly hurry up!” I yelled and I heard a groan

“I’ll be right there.”

 Tilly or Nat or Natalie

as it is on her birth certificate

is my little but no so little sister. She’s 14 years old and she looks exactly like my mum which makes me the non-official black sheep of the family.

She made sure to drag her feet and groan loudly the entire way to the living room so I would sense her displeasure.

“Keep doing that and I’ll leave your ass at home.” I said and she groaned for the nth time

“I’m here geez woman.”

She had on a black turtle neck that clung to her slim upper body and stopped a little under her belly button, a pleated mini skirt that clung to the defined curve of her waist and gladiators. She looked every part of a teen model.

She was finishing a sandwich when she walked in and I couldn’t help the jealousy. One reason I’ve always envied her is her slim nature. I have these wide hips and large thighs but Tilly has a perfect model figure. Even though she eats like a pig she never gets fat; like EVER. She once ate nothing but junk for two weeks and I don’t know if it’s fast metabolism but she didn’t even look like she gained a pound.

“Be patient.” she said “I have to get my bag first.”

I rolled my eyes and walked out of the door with her yelling behind me. I had already started the car when she rushed in.

“Patience is a virtue you know.”

“One I unfortunately do not have time for.” I said with a smile

She rolled her eyes and brought out a foil wrapper and opened it to reveal a sandwich.

“You better not plan on eating in my car.” I said as I reversed out of the garage

“You didn’t let me finish eating at home.” she whined “or do you want one?’

“Get that nasty thing out of my face.”

   “Its food Natasha.”

“I don’t care but you’re not doing that in my car.”

“Are you sure you don’t want one?” she asked and I shook my head “Really? Cause you sound really bitter today; food can fix that.”

“No now please keep that thing away so you don’t stain my car.”

She huffed and put it back in her bag “I’ll eat it during homeroom or detention.”

“Detention.” I asked with a cocked eyebrow

“We both know I’ll end up in detention before the end of the day.”

I simply ignored her and parked in front of her school

“Get out, I’m running late.” I said quickly and she rolled her eyes but started getting out.

“I can totally feel the love.” she replied sarcastically.

“I think Jesy is rubbing off on you WAY too much.”

          “Bye Tasha.”

    “Bye Tilly.”

She shut the door after her and skipped to school. I quickly reversed out and drove to school

I parked in front of the red brick walls that belonged to Winston High School or as I liked to call it HELL.

It’s like EVERY OTHER HIGH SCHOOL. The ones you see in movies and the ones you read about in books. The popular guys, queen bees, cheerleaders, nerds, emo’s, Goths, outcast, sci-fi geeks; you name it they’re ALL here.

Its high school and you’re either at the top of the food chain or you’re at the bottom and as for me I’d rather be the predator than the prey. That’s why my squad

as we’re called

all agreed to be popular. It wasn’t easy but it was worth it.

I’m the captain of the cheerleading team which automatically puts me on top.

Jessica Wright is the vice-captain. I honestly wouldn’t have joined cheerleading if not for her. She has been my best friend since first grade.. She just walked up to me and said “You look nice; we’re friends now” and the rest is history.

She has super silky jet black hair and hazel eyes and to top it off she’s super slim and toned. She’s part African though hence her darker skin.

I met Skylar in 5th grade. We became friends through Phillip who developed a massive crush on her

they’ve been dating for about 2 years now

She has been student body president every year since middle school. She’s an elite student and is naturally in line to be valedictorian. She has strawberry blond hair and dark eyes.

Philip Anderson the only boy in our group is on the varsity basketball team. He’s the tallest out of all of us at 6 feet while Sky is the shortest at 5’4. He has dark brown hair and brown eyes. I’ve known Phillip the longest out of everyone else. Our mums are best friends so we were raised practically like siblings. We took baths together and everything.

“Tasha.” Jesy yelled in my ear snapping me out of my reverie.

    “What is it?”

“Did you do the Algebra homework?” she asked and I nodded then passed it over to her “You’re a lifesaver.”

“Why didn’t you just do it?”

“Me, x and y don’t get along.” she said simply “I mean y should just give up already; x is never coming back.”

I just rolled my eyes at her and grabbed my English and Algebra textbooks

“You look good by the way.” she said making me frown

“I look like a bag of chips.”

“A sexy bag of chips.” she said and I gave her a look “I’m kidding you look amazing.”

“So do you.” I said honestly and really she did.

She wore ripped denim jeans, a white crop top with crisscross over the bust, a jean jacket and suede boots; her hair was left down completing the look.

“I always look good.” she said with a cocky smirk “T.T three o’clock.”

I turned to my right and saw them, the T.T, the trouble twins Jason Russell and Jax Aldean. Yup, they’re not twins but they could be.

Jason and Jax have this unnaturally beautiful tousled black hair with the most mischievous set of grey orbs you will EVER see. They’re both about 6’2 give and take a few inches and they do EVERYTHING together. They drive the same type of car, wear the same clothes, and attend the same classes. The only thing they don’t do together is sports. Jax plays basketball while Jason plays football. They’re basically the male version of Mean Girls minus the mean part though.

They’re THE MOST popular kids in school.

“How are they THAT hot?” Jesy asked “It should be illegal.”

I murmured an agreement. They are so hot I don’t think there’s any girl who hasn’t had a crush on at least one of them. Jesy and I included. The problem is I didn’t have a crush on any of them; I HAVE a crush on one of them.

“Sup Ginger” Jason said as they stopped in front of my locker.
