Today's Headline: #Linda Accused of Murder and Detained#
Upon opening her eyes, Linda found herself not far from iron railings. She was crumpled in a corner of the room, shivering with cold, and her head was spinning with dizziness.
Rubbing the temples, she slowly stood up to look outside.
Outside her detention cell, two police officers stood guard.
Where was she?
Why were these people dressed so strangely?
A flash of memories surged in her mind, triggering a splitting headache. She had to clutch the wall to remain standing.
It took her a long time to organize her scattered memories.
She was stunned to realize she had been transmigrated into a different world, reborn in another body.
Linda was originally the War Goddess of the Immortal realm, who died due to a cultivation accident. This body she now occupied was also named Linda, a somewhat famous entertainer.
She was in the police station now because while she was at her company today, an artist named Jasper committed suicide by jumping off a building and landing right next to the feet of the original Linda.
Furthermore, a dispute had once occurred between the original Linda and Jasper before the latter's suicide.
The police had discovered that Jasper's death wasn't a regular suicide and thus temporarily detained Linda as a suspect.
Linda touched her eyes with her fingertips, revealing a flash of golden light.
Refocusing her gaze on the corridor outside the detention cell, she could see a transparent human soul drifting by.
"Come here," Linda murmured, caressing the spirit to her side.
Can you see me? Jasper's soul looked at Linda in astonishment.
Linda gave a slight nod. "Who exactly killed you? I can help you."
Hearing these words, Jasper remembered the experiences before his death and couldn't help but burst into tears, "Sob sob sob, that scumbag Tommy, he was the one who pushed me!"
Linda walked to the police, "I remembered some things related to the case."
The police again took her to the interrogation room. Linda relayed what Jasper had told her. The police initially had no idea about the connection between Jasper and Tommy and immediately began investigating him.
Not long after, Linda's agent came to bail her out.
Linda only had conflicts with Jasper, she was not directly suspected of killing Jasper. So she successfully got bail and left the police station smoothly.
"You're indeed unlucky - she had to fall right next to your feet," Agent Ryan thought about the rumors online and felt a headache.
"That coward Eddy, as soon as he found out you were in trouble, immediately distanced himself from you. He even claimed that the photos in the scandal were of you deliberately harassing him!
Damn him! I told you not to chase after that dog of a man, who looks just like a wolf with a dog's heart, but you didn't listen!"
Ryan turned his head to look at Linda, his face full of frustration and disappointment.
"Let me check."
Yawning, Linda leaned lazily against the passenger seat, looking at her phone.
She began to read the comment on her Facebook.
[Eddy]: I have no relation with Miss Linda. Her pestering me has bothered me for a long time, but I felt saying it out loud might hurt a girl's self-esteem, so I didn’t explain.
[Linda]: Give me back my money.
The original owner had kicked out Eddy after a long time of spending a lot of money on him.
Not only this, but Eddy also kept borrowing money and not returning it.
A few days ago, the two confirmed their relationship as a couple, but then the issue of Jasper jumping off a building occurred.
Eddy had no intention of making it public initially, but, seeing Linda's misfortune, he eagerly disassociated himself, fearing others would brand him a boyfriend of a murderer.
[Netizen] You dare to ask for money as a murderer? Have you no shame? How can Eddy possibly spend your money? Don't talk nonsense here! I'm amazed. Why isn't Linda dead yet? Could you just die already?
Linda had only just spoken up online and was instantly met with collective mockery and insults.
Everyone thought of her as someone who liked to harass male actors, a shameless and cruel murderer.
Eddy quickly followed up with another post.
[Eddy]: First, I would never spend a woman's money. Second, I would not have any intimate contact with a murderer. Besides her usual harassment, we don't have much contact privately.
[Linda] : Wait till I disclose my bank statements; then you'll know whether you've been spending my money. Who is always claiming to be broke every month, borrows money from me, and then doesn't pay it back? I have kept the evidence, and I will sue you.
As for whether I committed murder, the police will investigate the truth. If this matter is not related to me, and you, being a public figure, continue to spread rumors, I hope you apologize to me. Otherwise, just as I said, I will sue you.
After she posted these words, another tide of internet slander was directed at Linda.
Linda paid no attention, first, she organized all the receipts and transfer records where she bought things for Eddy, and then she shared these screenshots on Facebook.
Eddy's face paled significantly the moment he saw her Facebook post.
He did not expect that she could be so ruthless as to post such evidence, slamming him.
Linda's manager sent her back home first.
Not long after she reached the neighborhood, Eddy rushed over in his car.
"Linda!"
He saw Linda entering the building and hurriedly ran over.
"How could you post those screenshots? I only said those things online because I was thinking about my career. I don't mean them! This matter has a serious negative impact, and I can't afford any mistakes during my career rise."
Linda watched him calmly, spread her hands, and simply said, “Payback.”
Eddy's face turned ashen. "Are you trying to ruin me? Is this the 'love' you claimed? If you love me, can you consider my career a bit more?"
?I don't give a damn about love, pay back!"
Eddy was astounded, completely unable to understand how she could be so merciless.
In the past, just a few sweet words from him were enough to placate her.
Eddy's gaze grew progressively colder. "Linda, you'd better hurry up and delete those screenshots and explain that all this is fake. Or else, don't blame me for being ruthless."
"Are you threatening me?"
She raised an eyebrow lackadaisically, her gaze resting on Eddy's countenance. His aura was heavily obscured in darkness, faintly illuminated by a few strands of bewitching pink light.
"You seem to enjoy playing two ends against the middle, no wonder you're afflicted with the Peach Blossom Curse. If you openly apologize to me and return all the money, perhaps I might consider sparing your pathetic life."
"I apologize to you? What kind of fantasy is that!" Eddy retorted disdainfully, "It was you who kept clinging onto me, showering me with gifts and money. Whose fault is that now?"
"Look at his audacity!"
Her agent, Ryan, sneered, "The money you've given him is better off feeding dogs."
Linda nodded. "Indeed, it's like feeding a dog."
"You just wait and see!"
Eddy shot a hateful glare at Linda and stormed off.
"At least now that you see his true colors, you won't be deceived again in the future," Ryan said, expressing his relief, albeit with a hint of worry on his face.
"I wonder when the police will solve the case, The netizens still think you are the murderer."
"They will solve it soon."
Linda seemed calm, for she had already deduced that the police would swiftly crack the case.
