Time 10.00 pm Udaipur Railway station, India
The Delhi Express scheduled at 10 pm also passed by. Slowly the platform became less crowded. After a while, the ticket counter also closed. Prabhu continued to sit on the platform chair without any intention to get up. He was a dark-skinned lean young boy who was not more than 25 years of age. He looked extremely sad and tired. With his red puffy eyes, he had been staring at the railway track itself for long hours. He wasn't listening to anything around him. It was evident that his mind was miles away from his body. However, he was in good attire. His costumes and the file that he had placed on his lap indicated that he was on the way back after attending a failed interview.
By this time street dogs had begun to wander through the platform. Other than some night-duty workers and beggars, the platform was empty. The sounds of crickets and the howls of dogs intensified the eerie silence of the night. But he was still there on the same chair, staring at the railway track.
Suddenly he deflected his head by hearing the horn of a train from a long distance. It was then he became conscious about the place and the time where he had been sitting for the last few hours. He looked around. Silence everywhere. His eyes searched for the platform clock. He startled. The time was around 11.30
He remembered the scene of hustle and bustle at the station when he arrived there in the evening. Back then...what all happened? He couldn't recall anything after that. With the file securely holding it to his chest, He soon got up from the chair and headed to the verge of the platform. As he heard the sound of the train from near. He closed his eyes, soon his heartbeat drastically surged, Hands trembled, throat dried and his legs collided with each other.
“Within a minute train will pass through this platform”.
Yes, "I must die". "I don't want to live anymore".
"I lost everything and couldn't achieve anything in life".
"I'm a burden to this world".
“There is no meaning to live ahead”. “I have no one here”. “I want to go near my parents”.
When the train passes "I will jump to the track". I will do it.
In that frustration and anger, he thought to himself. In a moment his entire life flashed in front of his eyes.
