Olivia's POV:

Running. I just kept running; I couldn't stop, not now, not ever. My white fur was padding the wet floor with a speed I didn't recognize. I was very tired, running out of breath, but I couldn't stop.

“You can rest for a bit, Olivia." "My wolf," Liana said in my head. I could hear the fear in her voice. She was equally as scared as I was. As for my wolf side, she is my companion, my best friend; she always thought she had to be strong for both of us.

As an omega, we were classified as the weakest in the pack, runts; we were useless to the pack. During wars, we were sent to hide.

I sighed and replied to Liana, "What if they catch up to us?” Liana whimpered and retreated into my mind. I wish I could go into someone's mind and just hide. My body felt weak as I kept pushing myself to run. Looking ahead, I saw a river. I almost cried out of relief. I pushed myself faster to the small pond. Getting to the pond, I could see my reflection. I looked so scrawny; my white fur was pretty much brown already. I closed my eyes and lapped at the water.

After drinking water to my fill, I decided to take Liana's advice to rest. I lay on my side, closed my eyes, and slept against my will. Before long,I saw myself back there.

On the cold tiles of the cell I was in, I was chained in wolf bane. Silver bane is the worst thing to happen to a wolf; I couldn't shift, and my wolf couldn't heal my wounds. I just lay there, shivering. I smelt his scent before I saw him, a scent that was heaven to me now felt very horrible; the door of the cell creaked open as he announced his presence with his brown boots. I whimpered and curled into myself further. He scoffed, “You're weak; this is why I rejected you. You're useless!" He sneered as his boots slammed against my side. Groaning, I clutched my rib as tears ran down my face; the previous bruise there wasn't even healed. "Please," I whispered. “Oh baby, you'll be begging me more than this soon." My heart stopped because I knew what was coming; the tears wouldn't stop. "Please, don't..." I managed to get out; he ignored me. I figured talking won't help; I didn't have the strength. When it was over, he stepped away. I lay there, with tears in my eyes, legs trembling.

Gasping, I woke up with fear, my heart beating fast. I needed to continue running; I couldn't let him catch up to me. I felt a bit better, as my joints felt relaxed; I was sure I had been running for 5 hours with no destination. My mind went to the reason I'm here.

James. Alpha James. The alpha of the Blue Moon pack. My ex-mate. When I turned 18, I was excited to find my mate. I knew he was in the same pack I was; I could feel it. The day I found out James was my mate, I was ecstatic; James wasn't. He didn't like the idea of being mated to a weak omega. His eyes regarded me with distaste as I remembered the exact words he said when he rejected me: “I, James, alpha of Blue Moon pack, reject you as my mate and Luna." I remember falling to the floor as the pain held me in a chokehold. He didn't look like he was in any pain; if he was, he masked it well. As if rejecting me wasn't enough, he ordered his beta to seize me and take me to the dungeon in the pack house. He hated me so much. I was always beaten by him or his beta or both. He also forced himself on him as frequently as he could; he wouldn't let me go. My wolf was dying from all the wolfbane. Last night, I finally found a way to escape after months of planning; I had been running since then. I knew he was looking for me. If he finds me, he'll kill me.

Pulling myself out of my thoughts, I slowed down as I realized I was in a forest; it was dark; it looked like midnight. I jumped when I heard a stick break. Looking around, I didn't see anything. "Run," Liana said. I didn't need to be told twice; I ran. I heard a growl, no, growls. I didn't look back; I just ran. They were catching up to me; I could feel it. They smelt like rogues; they probably smelt that I was Omega.

One of them jumped and landed on my back. I let out a shriek as I was pinned to the floor by the wolf with red eyes. I looked around and saw 4 others; they looked crazy and hungry. I whispered as they stalked closer to me with slow, precise steps. I couldn't fight them off; they knew that.

Realizing that this was going to be the way I died, I closed my eyes. "I love you, Liana; I'm sorry I couldn't protect us," I whispered to her. “It's not your fault; I didn't protect us. I'm so sorry!" I didn't reply to her; there was no need to.

The wolf that had me pinned snarled, raised his paw, and let it hit my face, his fangs scratching my fur. The other rogue wolves stalked closer, and they all preyed on me together. I closed my eyes again, expecting the strike. I felt fangs scratch my stomach; I was drifting already; I was so tired. As my eyes closed for good, I saw a black wolf with fur that shone. His power radiated even from afar; he stood taller than the other two he was standing with.

“Please, save me," I thought, as my eyes finally gave up and I drifted off.
