I was in the middle of a hot make out when something interrupted me. I woke up and realized it was just a dream and the deafening sound that woke me belonged to my alarm clack. I hit it and swung my legs out of my bed. It was still six in the morning.
Wanna know why a fine guy like me wakes up at six? Well, that's pretty simple. It's because this fine body of mine needs to be taken care of on a daily basis or the ladies won't be as interested.
I got out of my bed and strolled to the bathroom across. My apartment wasn't exactly hygienic considering all the clothes thrown everywhere as well as the boxes of pizza takeouts tossed around. I never bothered with those things as the girls I slept with just invited me to their places; so it had never mattered to me. My boys couldn't careless about it except for one of them, so I was good.
I went to take a quick shower and started looking for clean clothes. I couldn't find any! Almost everything I had smelt or had some weird stain on it. "Hmmm....." I hummed to myself, my face scrunched up in thought. I made sure that laundry was put in my mental to-do list for the weekend. I grabbed the least disgusting thing and put it on. Girls like sweaty and smelly guys, right?
I smirked at the thought and started to get ready for my day. I put my wallet in my pocket and moved to the front door of my place, getting my keys from its' hanger. I got out and locked the door. When I took the first step I heard a strange noise from next door. It was where Ms. Caidy lived. She had been like a mother for me ever since I moved here. I got closer to the sound, but stepped back.
"No, no snooping around. It's none of my business," I told myself, remembering the last time I barged into her apartment only to find her and her boyfriend fucking butt naked, so I thought to make the best decision, and started to the stairs.
Once I was out of my building, I began jogging in the direction of the gym. The weather was good. A little wind with the sun just coming out. I felt at peace. As I got closer to the gym, I slowed down and got in. I nodded at the receptionist and winked at her. I was a regular here so I didn't need to show my ID card shit. I went straight to the treadmill I always used in the corner of the gym only to find it this time occupied!!! I felt my feet come to a sudden halt.
It wasn't that I found someone on what almost everyone around here thought was 'mine'. No. It was the person on the treadmill that had my heart pounding.
Okay, I knew that wasn't love at first sight 'cause I didn't believe in that shit.
But the person on the treadmill had her head covered with a scarf and wore a long skirt along with a top that was long sleeved and had her goodies covered.
It was weird. I mean it wasn't everyday you saw a Muslim girl working out in a fucking gym!
I knew that I looked like a freaking creep staring at her but I couldn't bring myself to care because that was certainly the first time I saw such a person. I snapped out of my daze.
I have to introduce myself and make her move to another treadmill. Just do anything other than look like a fucking moron.
I started towards her till I was by her right side. She was so into her workout, she didn't realize that there was a person gaping at her. She had put the machine on 7mph. It was freaking unbelievable. I started to assess her body looking for a chance to glimpse at her body but failed miserably.
She had every fucking thing covered from head to toe.
That was when I noticed her full, plump lips moving. I couldn't hear a thing but from the way her lips were moving I wasn't sure I would have understood it even if I had.
I moved my hand to stop the machine. And once I did, I knew I had her undivided attention. I looked up just to find a set of beautiful eyes glaring at me.
I couldn't form a coherent thought let alone voice it.
She had a beautiful tanned face and a straight nose. She had a unibrow that I strangely found sexy but it was her eyes, her eyes told me that if I was playing with her I had better play with the devil. I was so mesmerized that I didn't realize she had been talking to me. I cleared my throat and chastised myself for acting like a freaking hormonal teenager. I was sure I looked like it with my hazel green eyes wide open along with my mouth. I thought I needed to get laid ASAP. Yeah, that must be it. I put that in my on going to-do list and snapped back to reality. I had no idea what she was doing. She stood right there, hands on her hips staring at me expectantly.
Well, that would be a problem, I thought.
"Huh....?" I asked.
I saw her pink lips twist to one side in evident displeasure. She was so not in the mood for the likes of me.
"I asked why you interrupted me from my workout," she hissed.
Her voice had some ring to it. Like it asked, no scratch that, demanded to be heard. She held herself in a way that was almost frightening. Like she had no fear in the world and it was refreshing. I shook my head. What the actual fuck was going on with me?
One look and I was gone! One sentence and she had me floored?
I had to collect my thoughts. I straightened my back ready to answer just in time to see her moving to get back to her workout.
"I haven't talked to you yet," I said calmly.
It was the exact opposite of how I felt though. She turned back to look at me. It was like she wanted to swat me out of her way as if I was some disturbing, ugly bug?!She couldn't be serious. I was one of those guys girls fawned all over. They practically threw themselves at me and even guys considered me as their role model and here was a girl who didn't give two flying fucks about who I was or what I could do to her.
"Is there anything to talk about?" she snapped.
My God! Has anyone done something she didn't like? The girl has a temper.
"Yes, bae..." I started only to get cut off by her sharp hiss.
"Don't bae me, mister. I'm not up for your childish games. You can look for someone who is actually interested."
She jerked her chin in the direction of the receptionist but I didn't move my eyes from her. I couldn't take my eyes off her for the life of me. She was resisted to my charms and had the nerve to push me to another girl. I felt my lips twitch on their own accord. This was a girl one has to win over.
"It's just a term of endearment considering the fact that I don't know your name," I said with a smirk.
She stood there still on the treadmill assessing me. I had to fight the urge not to squirm. She could put a big guy on his knees with only one look. It was terrifying.
"Why on earth would you use 'a term of endearment' to a stranger?" She dropped her arms to her sides after she had used them to air quote me.
"Well, I told you it was because I didn't know your name," I replied with a slight shrug.
Her response was quick this time.
"And you don't need to," she shot back ready to get back to her work.
I started to reach for her wrist when I felt the pain in my chest. I took a step back then another after I realized that she had punched me with her left hand! What the fuck?!
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" I grunted.
She was staring at me, her eyes flashing threateningly as if she would release a laser from them if I took a step towards her. She was crazier than I thought if she believed I would. I valued myself more than anything and she certainly wasn't worth my time.
"Don't you dare touch me, scumbag. Or I will rip your head from it's place."
She had the nerve to threaten me. I felt my eyes bulge. Was she serious? But when I looked into her eyes I knew that she was beyond serious, so I raised my hands in surrender. I expected the tension to leave her body but my act did close to nothing so I smiled, for her to see I wasn't a total asshole.
"I'm sorry, OK. Won't happen again," I promised.
I had no idea what she saw in me or heard from what I said but she seemed satisfied enough and gave me a tight smile.
Well, I thought. That is a progress.
We went back to 'our' treadmills though it was weird because that was the first time I used a different treadmill but I might as well forget about it. The girl didn't look like someone to share things with other people. I fixed the rate to the maximum in order to drown out my thoughts. When I turned my face to see the girl she was already putting her headphones back. I knew that she was a major trouble but I couldn't resist it. I felt compelled in a way I had never been. I wanted to make something different for a change so, I said.
"Hey, by the way, I'm Jed ."
She had put her headphones but I guessed she hadn't started playing whatever she was listening to because she stopped, looked up at me and smiled. It was a breathtaking smile that I couldn't help but smile back.
"Hi. I'm Arya. Sorry for troubling you."
"No problem," I said reassuringly. Only I hadn't known that was just the beginning of so many others.
