Adeline's pov

"Where are you coming from and Why're you just coming back Adeline? " Dave asked me In a tone that was way too calm and whenever he used that, I knew what was coming won't be good at all.

"I'm i i i I'm sorry, it was the traffic, I'm so sorry dave"....A deafening sound echoed through the hall with I stinging sensation on my cheeks.... I wondered if my jaw had not broken with the force he used to hit me.

"Get out sight"!!!.... I tried to scramble up to my feet but I felt another aching pain on my stomach as he kicked me again.

"Motherfucker!!!" He spat on me while I lay there not able to move for what felt like hours, after a while I managed to drag myself upstairs to my room because he made sure I don't sleep in the same room with him.

Dave was never like this when we first got to know each other but all of a sudden he changed and I don't know why. I managed to get myself upstairs even with the pains which I knew i would have to bear and wounds that I'll have to cover up with makeup before going to work, something I've always been good at doing.

I woke up early and made breakfast as fast as I could, I heard the sound of water rushing which meant he was already awake, i dashed out the front door as fast I could because I knew what could happen if he saw me that morning which made me rush to my car and speed down to my office.

I entered my office going straight to the little washroom attached to it to check my makeup making sure it was still intact and wasn't coming off.... Just when I was about taking my seat mirabelle came in.

"Hey girl" She said coming closer to me with a frown and I knew what was coming next.

"Hi" i said not looking at her, I felt her hand raise my face to look her in the eye, and in that split second her expression changed to that of anger.

"What the hell did he do to you Adeline!!!, I've told you to break this relationship off with that bastard but no you wouldn't listen, why do you have to go through this with him, why? Come on we're going to report this, this instant". She said pulling me off my seat.

"No no no, wait please no, you know what happened the last time we tried to report him and also I don't want to report him because i still love him belle". I told her.

"Urrrgggg common just end this thing you have with him pleassssssseeee adeline" she begged.

"I'll think about it belle, I will" I tried to convince her knowing deep down she was far from being convinced.

"Well if you say so". She said raising her two palms up in a surrendering manner.

"I actually came here to let you know that the son of the CEO is coming back to take over his father's companyyyyy and gosh have you heard? he's so handsome like gosh I can't express how happy......".

I had already tuned her out because like most ladies in the office they had this obsession for the CEO's son ever since it was announced that he was taking over from his father again after his accident, those that were newly employed hadn't even seen him before but all they heard we're stories from the older ones in the office of the time he was really drunk and had a very serious accident which he got some serious head injury and few other injuries leaving him hospitalised for 2 years.

"Hey are you even listening to me". She snapped her fingers in my front. "I said he's coming tomorrow so you need to look extra beautiful for him maybe he'll take interest in you" she said wriggling her eyebrows in a funny way that got me laughing.

"I'm not interested belle you know I'm not into those types of thing, you haven't even seen him before, have you? ". I told her

"Well noooo but I've heard things yea, so that matters at least". She said trying to make her point sound convincing but I wouldn't take any of that into consideration and she knew that too.

"Anyway we're going shopping later, let's have a girls evening". She said jumping up like a kid making me laugh.

"Yeah sure, just come get me when you done okay " I said to her retreating figure.

"And bills on me!!!". Making me groan as she made her way out if my office.

Belle has always been a very good friend, she just never allowed me pay for anything whenever we go out, she was just always too kind and caring even when dave would send me out of the house in the middle if the night she was always there to help me out. we had met here at KINGS ENTERPRISE some months back when we both came for our interview in the company, i had missed the date of my period that day......

Flash back

I was on my way to reception when i heard a friendly voice behind me. "Uhmm hello".

"Hiiii" I drew out awkwardly while tucking a strand of hair behind my ear because I was a really shy type of person. "Yea so you kinda have your skirt stained" she said while grabbing my arm and pulling me along with her towards the washroom.

"Thank you so much I must have not taken it into consideration due to me being nervous and stuffs". I explained embarrassingly.

"Yes I understand, feeling that way too" she let out a nervous laugh. Anyway I'm Annabelle but you can call me belle for short".

"Yea I'm Adeline nice to meet you and thanks a lot". Ever since that day we got really close.

Present day

"How does this look on me....Huunn....Cute right". She held a short flay gown with so many colors to her chest, like who would think that was cute.

"Uhh not really looks too colorful and bright you know and it's too open" she had been trying different types of clothes for the past 2 hours and I was already tired of sitting watching her, I was never really a fan of shopping.

"Urrrggg common, it looked like it was going to be really cute on me. Okay why don't you try it on then". she said coming closer with the gown.

" naaaaa I think I'm good." said making a disgusted face.

"Common it's gonna look really good on you besides I'm not asking, now get your ass up and go try on the gown."

"Yes mommm" I replied sarcastically while rolling my eyes.
