From AUBRINA'S POV 

My eyes darted around looking for mom as I Carefully rose from our wooden bed and yawned softly. 

When I woke up, I found it strange that my mother wasn't there. 

Either she would take a seat next to me on a stool or I would see her preparing some of  that delectable rabbit meat. 

Because we were a tribe of leopards. 

We just consume only meat!!

I made my way down to our local parlor out of curiosity. 

Remember the monsters battled the humans and lost, Gabriel said as he cleared his throat. 

I'm sure your mother would have informed  you about it even though you weren't there to see it.

I sat still to hear what else he had to say, giving him a small nod of approval while doing so.

We beast didn't have much in our homes; our parlor was local. 

There were only a few wooden seats, a thatched table, and some bones. 

I was shocked to see my mother sat on one of the wooden chairs and the leader of the leopard, Gabriel, on the other.

I gave my mother a long, intense look so I Could swiftly read her feelings. 

She appeared shocked and unable to let go, as I could see by her facial expression.

I was making calculations as I tried to understand why Gabriel was there. 

He has never visited before, right? 

He grinned at Mom and glanced at me as I Could see her nodding slightly.

My mother and I moved in together when my father passed away. 

According to my mother, my dad died in the  conflict between humans and beasts.

When dad was murdered by an human, I was still quite sensitive. 

I will always despise humans for killing my  father, despite the fact that I have never seen one or even traveled to the human  realm. 

Gabriel grinned broadly as he looked at me and said, "Oh good, Aubrina's here.

"Brina, sweetheart, we need to talk to you about something. 

I sat down out of curiosity,and Mom remarked, "That's why Gabriel is here. 

My head was filled with ideas as my heartbeat quickly. 

I wasn't sure why they were including me in their conversation in the first place.

I don't know if you heard about our new strategy to defeat the humans, but I'll tell you now, he continued. 

"After much deliberation, we decided to select you"  the elders said" The elders had already decided to send someone to the human world to learn about their weakness and use it against them"

After a little absence, I heard the phrase"choose you." 

Numerous questions started to flood into my head

So I made the decision to speak up. 

"Why is it me out of all the beasts? 

"Why me. I don't think I can do this".

I stared at mother signalling she should say something about this.

As if she knew what I wanted “Brina, I know this is difficult for you, but it is also difficult for me. I could I stand watching my only daughter and last hope just wander off to the human world all by herself. But, there's nothing I could do”

I watched my mother as she spoke, and tears freely broke in my eyes. I couldn't control them anymore.

DAKOTA'S P.O.V

As I watched brina broke into tears, my heart couldn't just take it. I burst into tears. It was a mother and daughter time.

I just had to be the hero here.

“Bri, it will be alright. Just do what you're asked, and then you can come back here and we will live a better life. Don't worry.”

I stared at Aubrina as I said it but I can see confusion evident in her eyes.

“Mother, I can believe you can say such a thing. I thought you'd object. Is it because of the money involved in this?”

“No, No, don't misunderstand me. I could never do such a thing. Just look at it at the bright side, you will help our world, and also our tribe but most importantly our family.”

Aubrina just looked at me with disbelief as she left the room angered.

Chief Gabriel took a glance at her and then glanced at me. “You should better talk to her. You too are given 2 moons

Meaning 2 days/nights

to talk to her and change her mind”

I just nodded looking at Gabriel. Gabriel stood up elegantly as he walked out of the door. I just sighed feeling tired of everything that's happening.

The only person i rely one is been chosen to do a task. I Can't believe this!!

AUBRINA'S P.O.V

I sat quietly on my wooden bed as I sobbed quietly. Why was I chosen? I don't want to leave my mother for anything.

The inner devil in me wanted to go the city of humans to see how it is, but the angelic side of me didn't want to leave my mother.

This is all so frustrating!!

As I was still contemplating.

I heard a slight knock on the door. Before I could say anything, mom rushed towards me with a very tight hug. I couldn't help but hig back.

“I'm so sorry Brina, but I could not say no to an elder. Besides you get to see the human world” Mother said trying to make me smile.

“You're right mom” I said as she smiled too

“You know what, let's forget about all these. And enjoy a good spicy meat fresh from the bush. You're favorite flavor” Mom Said licking her lips as she said those delicious food.

“Hmmm, hmmm can't wait Mother”

Mother stood up and looked at me one last time “Gabriel told me that you have two moons to make a decision, please make a wise decision. I'm inside the kitchen if you need me.”

I looked at my mother and smiled genuinely “Thank you mother for all the support”

“That's what I'm here for” I'll call you for breakfast in a few minutes.
