After that incident, all was peaceful around our kingdom. However, some of us had some other problem. A certain evil king who had the heart of an angel and the same time he has a heartless heart.
He was now ruling the kingdom, the throne had belonged to his mother till her death. It was a shame because she loved her son dearly. But then again he was never kind to her. He always made fun of her until she died from the same sickness they had in common.
His father, the first king was also sick, he's know for being the most heartless ruler in the kingdom. According to the rumor that spreading through the land it had he had been the curse to their family, whoever become the king will suffer the same illness and die the same way. However, this rumor hasn't bothered the former king, for somehow he had the guts to rule the whole kingdom, not giving a sh*t about anyone and anything except himself.
The current king was different though. He never left his palace. This king never wanted to go outside the city walls. That's why there were many rumors about him. People say that he has a wife or some other women. They say that he has children. But no one knew his age.
Everyone says the same thing. He never let out a single laugh or smiled or even showed any emotion. Everyone called him a stone cold hearted bastard. The people hated him and feared him. Some even said they would have to obey his every command and obey their ruler.
These rumours were spread throughout the entire town. No one dared to go against him. Many even got their lives taken away if they dared to disobey his commands.
I took out a long sigh after reading the whole article.
'It's always the same rumor, i thought I could get a better information about that king'
Although, it seems to be that all the words written in the article were but of course, I had no fear towards the tyrant king. If there's anything I was afraid of, it's is not him.
Nobody knows how much he was affected by his illness and how long it would last.
I sighed again
It might seem to be absurd but I am looking for my husband, I mean my lost love. It has been a week as I tried to look for him, but still I fail.
I searched for him everywhere. I checked every house and alley. Sometimes I thought he'd come back.
After walking for too long I found a tavern with a sign that read:
"The White Lion, where all the brave warriors gather"
There I stopped. I felt a slight tug on my heartstrings but it disappeared as quickly as it arrived. I looked over my shoulder but I don't see him. I sighed. I should just stop trying.
I turned back around but I almost tripped when I noticed a man sitting next to me on a bench.
"Can I sit here too?" asked the guy sitting next to me with a soft smile.
I looked at him. He seemed friendly but at the same time scary. Something told me that this person was dangerous.
"I'm sorry... I have no room..." I muttered and walked past him, but he grabbed my wrist. I felt my blood run cold and my breath quickened.
"Please don't go! I need someone to talk to." the man pleaded.
Suddenly there was a loud shout.
"Witch!" shouted the man next to the tavern. "I see you've found your soulmate yet?" He smirked at me
I glared at the man but he didn't look scared nor bothered by my glare. He just kept smirking.
"Leave her alone!" shouted the tavern owner. "If you hurt her then you'll regret it!"
The man laughed menacingly. Then he let go of my hand and pulled out a dagger.
"She doesn't belong to you" said the man. "I can kill her whenever I want without anyone stopping me!"
Before I could comprehend what was happening another scream erupted and the tavern owner dropped dead.
Blood splashed onto my cheek and I felt a strong grip around my waist.
"Let her go." Said the mysterious man.
"No" I heard the strange man reply.
Suddenly a strong force threw me forward. I collided into the ground hard. My body throbbed from the impact.
I tried to get up but I couldn't move my limbs.
"I said, let her go." The mysterious man repeated and the stranger released my waist. Then he walked towards the stranger who held a dagger to his throat.
Then, in a split second, the man pushed him aside. I looked closely but my eyes weren't focused enough to identify the attacker clearly.
I heard a crash and everything went quiet. My vision became blurry and I was starting to lose consciousness. Then there was a pain which felt like someone cut my head open and I collapsed.
I opened my eyes. Everything around me was blurry. I felt heavy and hot.
And then it dawned on me that I had fainted.
Someone was shaking me awake. I winced when my whole body ached. The person touched my cheek and shook me harder.
"Don't you dare to go unconscious again! You promised that you won't leave me!" said a familiar voice.
It sounded panicked. As if he really didn't like the idea of me being unconscious.
My vision cleared up slightly. I could still see his face but it was blurry. I squinted my eyes but then realized the situation, it's just a dream.
*sigh*
I let my maid entered my room and they helped me to get ready, today I'm going to attend a ball that will be held in the Conté Kingdom. I'm the tyrannical heiress of the Momentae Kingdom, Anaís Chevalier Momentae.
