”Anna, wait, have breakfast first okay?". Mum shouted as Anna hurried off.
“Mum, I'm not a kid. I am a college student". Anna reminded
“I know, but I can't help it". Mum replied as she came out of the kitchen.
”awwn, that's why I love you so much ". Anna replied as she leaned forward and hugged her mum, then took the lunchbox off her hands.
”I love you too baby. Be careful okay?". Her mum warned and she nodded before heading out.
She entered the car and the driver zoomed off.
Anna ran through her project, and she smiled in satisfaction.
The car rolled to a halt, and she alighted.
“Usual time, okay?". She said to her driver and he nodded in understanding before driving away. She got to class.
Later, classes were over, so she gathered her books and walked outside. She looked at her wristwatch and noticed that classes ended early today, and the driver wasn't aware, so he'd probably stick to time
She walked to a tree and sat under it. People would pass and greet her. She felt somewhat lonely. She was the daughter of the president so people were scared to approach her; it was because of this reason she refused to have bodyguards, cause they always scare people away from her.
What people don't know was that she wasn't actually prideful or rude like they'd expect a president's daughter to be, and she wouldn't go running to her daddy for every little issue.
She sighed as she looked at her wristwatch again. He should be here anytime soon. The car finally arrived and she got in.
“Good evening sir". She greeted politely.
“Evening young miss". The driver replied with a smile. Unlike other influencial people's children he had worked with, he liked her only. She wasn't like them at all. She was the only one who had given him respect. She had never raised her voice at him, or order him around so rudely. As a matter of fact, she was always on her best behavior.
“Young miss, can I ask you a question if you don't mind?".he asked as he drove.
“of course". She replied..
“i have noticed that you don't have friends or someone to keep you company. You have never asked me to drive you anywhere else but campus, your dad's company and home, and I have never seen you with any guy, why so?". He asked and she smiled bitterly.
“Firstly, I don't have friends because alot of people are either scared of me, or they have ulterior motives for trying to befriend me, and I don't want fake people around me. Secondly, I don't go out because I don't see any fun in going out, it only brings bad reputation and bad reputation means trouble. I am definitely not ready to ruin the reputation of my father or mine. Lastly, you haven't seen me with any guy because there is no guy in my life, although alot of them are trying to get close to me, but it just doesn't seem right, so let's say I'm waiting for the right person". She explained calmly making the driver smile again.
“I wish I had a daughter like you".he lamented .
”But sir, you do have a daughter right?". She asked. She remember she had heard him say something about his daughter, though she had never seen her before.
”Yes, but that girl...". He sighed and shook his head.
She could tell that he wasn't happy, so she said
”Its okay, after all, I am your daughter too, aren't I?".
He laughed heartily ”Yes of course!".
They arrived at the mansion and she alighted, said good night to him and headed inside.
She entered her room, freshened up and went to bed.
The next morning was the same routine, just that her dad was back now and was seated on the couch in the sitting room.
”Morning dad". She greeted.
“Morning my dear".her dad who was focused on the newspaper he was reading, replied.
”Well, mum, dad, I'm off to campus". She said and headed out.
Mr Curtis read the new headline and sighed. He was dismayed.
”What sort of a criminal is this? It's becoming annoying now". He muttered.
His wife joined him on the couch. “What is it honey?". She asked after taking a peak at the newspaper he was holding.
”one criminal that has been so hard to catch. I wonder how he has been getting off the hook so easily".he replied.
“Who is this criminal?". She asked.
”oh dear! A young man, I just don't understand. I had even made an announcement that he should stop whatever he is doing, that I'd give him a good job, but no, he refused to come out clean, so now, we are still looking for him". He replied.
”isn't this the man of a year ago?". She asked as she looked at the picture of the fine young man.
”Yes he is. I must say, you have such a retentive memory".he praised and she raised her shoulders proudly.
“Our daughter is taking off from me". She replied and they both chuckled before he pulled her closer
”Well, the security teams are working on finding him an bringing him to justice. Enough of that now, how is our daughter?". He asked, making his wife furrow her brows.
”Didn't you see her just now? She was perfectly okay".
”no, not that. Since we do not have a son, she needs to get married don't you think?". He asked and his wife shook her head.
”No, she wouldn't be in support of that. We've talked about this before. She said she'd be an independent woman before getting married".
”Independent". He nodded his head. ”Although I like it, I don't think it's necessary. I am wealthy, so she can come to me at any time".
”You know your daughter. She would never come to ask for money".
”That's why every month, I send money into her account".
“Still, she has barely used them, Last week, I checked her account balance".
”Maybe she doesn't have any pressing needs for now!".
”Its fine. Anyways your breakfast is ready,I even forgot that's why I came". She said and they both got up and headed to the dinning room.
