簡介
Her husband had an affair, and another man forcefully entered her life. "Either you end up with nothing, or you marry me. Your choice." "Huh?" "What do you mean 'huh'? You're scheming to lure me in just so I can play stepfather to your son, aren't you? I'm reluctantly giving you this opportunity, make sure you don't regret it." "Mr. Fu, I think you might have misunderstood..." "That's enough, no more words. Take your household registry and head to the Civil Affairs Bureau."

"Doctor Song, the situation is grim. If we continue to delay, both the pregnant woman and the child will be in danger!" The nurse reminded anxiously.

Song Jin stared coldly at the pregnant woman on the operating table.

The woman lying on the bed was her husband's mistress, Wen Chunru.

"Get out! I want another doctor!" Wen Chunru was livid, her injured leg profusely bleeding.

She was yelling at Song Jin like a madwoman, "Go! I don't want to see you!"

Song Jin let out a dour laugh.

What a brazen mistress.

"The pregnant woman is too agitated, give her a sedative." Song Jin ordered the nurse calmly.

Wen Chunru stared at Song Jin for a moment, then suddenly burst into laughter, "Song Jin, do you know whose child this is in my belly?"

Her tone was filled with provocation.

Song Jin's heart gave a painful throb, but she did not respond.

"It's Yue Sheng's! Haha, the child in my belly is yours, from your husband Tang Yue Sheng!" Wen Chunru hysterically announced.

It wasn't long before the sedative took effect. The ward fell silent.

However, halfway through the operation, the nurse suddenly exclaimed, "Doctor Song, we have a problem. The situation has become too critical, the pregnant woman..."

Song Jin looked at Wen Chunru who lay unconscious on the operating table.

The light shone on her face, a face that was pale yet incredibly beautiful.

Song Jin remained silent for a moment before speaking, "Try your best to save the adult."

"Yes."

After the surgery ended, Song Jin felt utterly exhausted, unclear about whether it was physical or emotional fatigue.

Walking out of the operating room, she saw a tall man standing erect in the corridor, she was taken aback.

The man standing before her was none other than her legally wedded husband—Tang Yuesheng.

Tang Yuesheng stood upright in the corridor, slightly pursing his thin lips.

A pair of eyes, as black as the abyss stared at her, they were indifferent, as if looking at a stranger.

Neither spoke, the atmosphere was strange and oppressive.

Song Jin was well aware of Tang Yuesheng's involvement with other women.

Otherwise, why would he often come home reeking of women's perfume and with women's hair strands on him?

"How is she?"

Tang Yuesheng was the first to break the silence, however, his voice was cold.

Song Jin's voice was still indifferent, "The baby couldn't be saved, but the adult is out of danger."

"What did you say?!" The moment Mrs. Tang, Luo Yulan, arrived, she rushed over upon hearing Song Jin's words.

"You're saying that the child couldn't be saved?!"

Song Jin's heart sank to the bottom.

So, Luo Yulan knew everything.

Everyone knew. She was the only one who didn't.

Luo Yulan, filled with emotion and anger, demanded, "You couldn't even save a child! Are you even qualified to be a doctor?"

Upon hearing her words, Song Jin couldn't help but find it amusing.

"Do you know that the woman who carries my husband's child is actually his mistress?"

After hearing this, even their housemaid Zhang Sao felt awkward.

Luo Yulan's face darkened, and she immediately burst into a fit of angry scolding:

"So what if she's a mistress? At least she can bear children - you can't. Are you going to prevent others from bearing children? What right do you have to call her a mistress? Pure Ru is way better than you!"

...

Song Jin couldn’t put into words how she was feeling at that moment, but she could hear her heart shattering.

Pain filled her, like a thousand wounds.

As she returned to the Tang residence in the evening, the entire villa was shrouded in darkness.

A “clink” sound emitted from the lighter echoed from the living room sofa.

She turned her head slowly, only to see a flickering flame in the living room sofa and heard the faint sound of a man smoking.

That was Tang Yuesheng, she knew.

"Do you want an explanation now?"

His voice was slightly cold and icy.

Song Jin's eyelashes trembled, her hands clung tighter to the stair handle.

Her husband had a child with another woman, and she was the last one to know. How could she not want an explanation?

Yet, hearing his cold and indifferent voice now, it suddenly seemed unnecessary.

"No need." She said in a calm manner, "I'll go upstairs and rest first."

"Good." Putting out the cigarette, Tang Yuesheng stood up from the sofa and put his hands in his pockets.

"I don't think there is a need for any explanations either, a divorce agreement, I'll have my lawyer prepare it. You'll be notified."

"Divorce?" Song Jin was stunned.

"Yes, divorce." Tang Yuesheng looked at her.

Even in the dark, Tang Yuesheng could vaguely make out her figure, but failed to see the hurt expression on her face.

"Okay." She responded slowly with a single word.

Her reply left Tang Yue shuddering with surprise.

But then he asked again calmly, "What do you want from the divorce?"

"What I want, will you all fulfill it?" Song Jin smiled, lifting her head to face him.

Tang Yue nodded, "Although you haven't contributed much to the Tang family, you did enter the Tang household as a child bride at the age of ten. In both love and reason, I will satisfy whatever you want."

"That's good." Song Jin's smile brightened even more, as radiant as a blooming flower.

She slowly walked over, stretching out her hand, one hand clasped his collar, the other pointed right at his heart. She smiled, word by word:

"I want everything, everything of the Tang family, including... you."

"..."

In his memory, she was always silent, caring little about many things.

It was the first time she had so bluntly expressed her ambitions.

Slowly, he pushed her away, a cynical smile lingering at the corner of his mouth.

Before he could say anything, angry curses from Luo Yulan came from the doorway.

"You couldn't even save Yue's child, yet you have the nerve to demand something from us? Shameless!"

Zhang's wife quickly turned on the lights, brightening up the living room instantly.

"Slap!"

A slap hit her hard in the face.

"You tell me! Did you purposely induce Chunru's miscarriage because you were jealous of her baby?"

The slap was powerful, bringing her to the verge of tears, "Mom."

"Don't call me Mom!" Luo Yulan's face was almost twisted with rage.

"I didn't cause her to lose her baby." Song Jin spoke matter-of-factly, "By the time she reached the hospital, her child was already beyond saving."

"Who would believe your words? She merely slipped a little, how could it cause a miscarriage so easily?!"

Luo Yulan, lost in the pain of losing her grandchild, could not hear any of Song Jin's words.

She seized Song Jin's hair and, like a madwoman, violently bumped her head against the wall as she sobbed:

"When Yue Sheng's father was alive, he was always so fond of you... Is this your way of repaying us? Give me back my grandson!"

Song Jin felt immense pain, but what hurt her more were Luo Yulan's words, and...

Tang Yue Sheng's ice-cold gaze at the moment.

The way he sneaked sidelong glances at her, it was as if he was looking at an insignificant stranger, completely unmoved.

It was not a cold day, but her heart was chilly, wounded by his icy stares.

....

Arriving at the apartment block in a car, Song Jin had a small bag with her and patiently waited after ringing the doorbell.

Shortly after, the door in front of her slowly opened, and Song Jin saw a little head sticking out first.

Before she could speak, the little guy inside the room furrowed his brows first, "What's going on?" He pointed at the stuff she was carrying with his tiny hand.

"I've been kicked out." Song Jin replied.

Looking at the handsome yet innocent face in front of her, she was in a trance. This was her son, whom she had always kept hidden, afraid to let the Tang family know about.

The little one frowned even more, showing a mature side beyond his tender age. He pointed to her face again, "What about these?"

"I was bitten."

There was a large bruise on her forehead, and her right cheek was slightly swollen.

This sight tugged at his heartstrings. The little guy sighed and asked again, "Are you finally getting a divorce?"

With her eyes slightly lowered, Song Jin tugged at the corner of her mouth, "Most likely."

The next day when she returned to the hospital for work, Song Jin heard Wen Chun's sobs from behind the slightly ajar door.

"Auntie, it must be because she can't stand the sight of me carrying Yue Sheng's child. She certainly did it on purpose, you have to stand up for me!"

That was immediately followed by a comforting whisper from Luo Yulan, "Don't worry, I will definitely have Yue Sheng divorce her. You and Yue Sheng are still young, you can have another child."
