Chase Tennyson woke up on a Tuesday morning with a sharp pain as he clutched his injured rib and let out a slight moan. He turned on his bed and took a look at his digital clock resting on his desk and wondered why it hadn't rung yet. He sat up to take a better look and the clock showed 9:20am. His eyes widened as he came to the horrible realisation that he had slept through the alarm and that his first lesson was coming to an end in about twenty minutes which gave the chemistry teacher a good reason to keep him behind after school. He pushed away the bed sheets, staggered out of bed and headed for a quick shower as he clutched his side.
5 minutes later, his shower ended and he wrapped a towel around his waist as he headed into his room to put on his uniform. As he was exiting the bathroom, he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror: His bright blue hair had grown out, nearly covering his blue eyes. Even though he was 15, he still looked scrawny without a trace of muscle and a black bruise around his waist started to swell.
He stopped looking at himself and headed back to his room to put on his school uniform. The uniform was plain and simple: A white shirt accompanied by a dark blue tie and black trousers. The shoes were his own choice and a black belt finished off the outfit.
He tucked in his shirt and saddled his belt as he tightened his digital watch around his wrist. He grabbed his back pack and made sure that all his books for the day were there, wore his black JC trainers, pocketed his phone and rushed downstairs for a quick breakfast whilst he ignored the pain in his ribs.
He checked the time and it indicated 9:37am. As he walked around the kitchen to reach the fridge and cupboards, he half expected someone to scream at him wondering why he hasn't left yet but it appeared that the house was empty. He made himself a quick toast and speed walked to the door as he prepared to leave. He continued munching on his toast as he unlocked the front door and stepped out into the cold September weather.
Once the front door was locked and he had exited the house's gates, he speed walked to school. The walk to school was normally meant to last 25 minutes but his injured ribs added him another 10 minutes. He had left home at 9:40 and By the time he arrived at school, it was already 10:15am which indicated that he was 35 minutes late for second period.
The school was huge and reeked of riches: The main gate was like two roads combine together, the school had a two basketball courts as well as four other mini courts, a football pitch covered the exact same measurements as a normal football pitch but the 6 additional movable goal posts enlarged the pitch by five times whilst a swimming pool was located inside a gym not far away from the pitch. A tennis court was found next to the gym and a shed as big as a semi detached house harbored all sports equipment. The teachers all came from top universities and they all sported a couple of masters and degrees which made them respectable people in society. The school had always had the newest best Pcs and even the teachers were given those Pcs for free. Classrooms were big enough to put in more than 25 tables and classrooms also had touch screens on their boards and the Wi-Fi they used was the fastest in the country.
As Chase approached the main gate, the muscular guard sitting inside a guard booth near the gate saw him and opened up a pedestrian gate allowing Chase to enter the school.
"Late today, Chase? That's rare." He said in his deep voice as he moved aside to let the kid pass.
"I am sorry, I overslept, " Chase simply said as he passed the guard. The guard tutted and was about to give him a lecture, as he usually did to all late comers, but refrained from it as the kid seemed to be in pain.
"You alright there son?" He asked as he closed the gate and watched the kid go on his way. Chase slightly nodded and headed towards student reception to register his coming to school. The guard watched him for a second and went back inside the booth whilst hoping that the kid would be alright for the rest of the day.
The student reception was the first thing that could be seen when you entered the school and a sign above it in bold read:
WELCOME TO ACER HIGH
Chase sighed and headed inside the building.
