Saventia, Veyland, Akina Mount. The F4 World Racing Championship.
The signal dropped.
In an instant, the sleek race cars shot off the starting line like arrows released from the bow—
This was a death track carved along sheer cliffs, packed with brutal turns.
A sapphire-blue car held the lead. Right behind it, a blazing red one refused to fall back. In the blink of an eye, both cars drifted through two curves at insane speed.
Then, all of a sudden, the red car roared and accelerated hard, clearly going for an overtake at a cliffside bend.
The blue car ahead swerved on purpose, hogging both lanes with one car...
The whole crowd forgot how to breathe.
"Holy crap! K is trying to overtake on the cliff turn?! Is she insane? Does she have a death wish?!"
"Oh my god! I seriously can't even watch this!"
"Please don't go over the edge! I'm freaking out!!"
Inside the flaming red car, the woman’s face didn’t change one bit. She slammed the gas, and the racer shot forward like a fire dragon. At the turn, half the car’s body was hanging out over the cliff—
The audience’s eyes widened. Their hearts were up in their throats...
The red car only left the ground for a split second. As the wheels spun madly, it skimmed through the curve and slipped ahead of the blue car in one clean move.
"Wow! That was so badass!!"
"Help, this is straight-up heart attack material!"
Of course, the blue car wasn’t about to give up. It chased hard from behind, and the two racers tore after each other through bend after bend, the kind of scene that made everyone’s scalp go numb.
As she neared the finish line, a faint smile curled at the woman’s lips. Then she floored it—
Using the arc of the curve, she launched.
The red racer pulled off another insane flex. At the final instant before the finish, the whole car lifted into the air, flew past the blue one at lightning speed, landed perfectly, and blasted across the finish line first.
The stands exploded. Cheers, screams, whistles—one wave after another, loud enough to shake the whole track.
"Damn, that was insane!"
"K is everything!"
"I’m riding for K forever!"
The door of the blazing red race car flipped open—
A slim figure stepped out from the driver’s seat. From the grandstand, all anyone could catch was her tall, striking silhouette. The black-and-white racing suit hugged her perfectly, every proportion unreal.
She pulled off her helmet. Her dark hair lifted in the wind, and in that split second, her profile was so stunning it felt unreal—like some dangerous, beautiful siren walking out of a dream and straight into people’s hearts.
Before anyone could get a proper look at her face, the cool, sharp-edged woman had already put on a cap and mask, then disappeared around the corner.
Ten minutes later, a girl walked out from that same corner.
She was wearing a simple white dress. Her skin was pale and cool-toned, her waist slim, her legs long, her bone structure ridiculously pretty. She looked like a goddess out of Greek myth—clean, soft, breathtaking.
From a cold, untouchable racer to a sweet, delicate girl, all it took was one outfit change.
Her brows and eyes lowered gently, her whole vibe soft and graceful. When she smiled, it was like a little love poem had quietly slipped into the air.
...
As the sun dipped west, a car slowly drove into Luoxia Mountain and followed the winding road up to a hillside villa.
At the gate, a man in a sharp suit was already waiting. The moment he saw the car, he quickly stepped forward.
"Miss Hartwell, hello. I’m Mr. Whitfield’s assistant, Adrian Colton."
Cecilia Hartwell got out of the car and asked softly, "Something you need?"
Adrian’s gaze paused on her face for a couple of seconds. Then he pulled a document from his briefcase and handed it over respectfully—
"The two-year term of your marriage to Mr. Whitfield ends today. Please sign the divorce agreement."
Cecilia’s steps halted. Her calm eyes swept past him once, then landed behind him. "Where’s Ethan Whitfield?"
"Uh..." Adrian answered honestly, "Mr. Whitfield had something to handle. He hasn’t returned to Saventia yet."
Cecilia Hartwell lifted a hand and casually tucked her hair back, her tone light, almost careless. "When we got married, he was busy. Then he stayed out of the country for two whole years. Now we’re divorcing, and he’s busy again... so what exactly is Ethan Whitfield so busy with?"
Adrian Colton pressed his lips into a polite smile and said nothing.
Cecilia glanced at him, and the softness in her pretty eyes turned sharp in a second. "Hmm?"
Adrian’s heart gave a violent jolt. He was so scared he almost dropped to his knees on the spot. "Uh..."
He got stuck.
The truth was, Mr. Whitfield had come back to Saventia last night. When he sent Adrian over to handle the divorce, he himself was sitting back at the old Whitfield residence, calm as ever, sipping tea like this had nothing to do with him.
The end of Cecilia’s brow lifted slightly, and the curve of her lips carried a faint, mocking chill. "So where is the man who’s playing hide-and-seek with me?"
Adrian barely dared to breathe. He could only force out an awkward little smile.
"He really thinks that little of me? He won’t even show his face?"
Adrian truly had no idea what to say. He lowered his head respectfully. "I’m sorry, Ms. Hartwell."
Cecilia looked up and smiled a little. "The one who owes me an apology is him. Why are you apologizing?"
The moment Adrian saw that smile, he coughed twice again, dry and uneasy.
After a short pause, he reminded her in a low voice, "Ms. Hartwell, it’s getting late... moving at night isn’t really safe. So maybe... maybe you should sign the divorce papers first?"
"Moving?" Cecilia repeated, her voice cooling. "Ethan Whitfield wants me out tonight? Like I should just pack up and get lost?"
Adrian quietly held his breath and answered with stiff politeness, "Uh... Mr. Whitfield’s exact words were... that he hopes you’ll leave as soon as possible."
Cecilia lowered her eyes. Light shifted quietly in her gaze. She stayed silent for a few seconds before finally speaking. "Fine. I’ll go."
The second she agreed, Adrian let out a huge breath of relief. He quickly pushed the divorce agreement a little closer to her. "Then, Ms. Hartwell, please sign here."
The girl took the papers, flipped to the last page, and one name came straight into view—
Ethan Whitfield.
He had already signed it.
The handwriting was clean and powerful, sharp with confidence, just like the man himself.
Cecilia pressed her lips together, picked up the pen, and was just about to sign when something crossed her mind. She lifted her eyes and looked at Adrian. "Your name is Adrian Colton, right?"
Adrian lowered his head and answered softly.
"Look up. Look me in the eyes."
Adrian Colton didn’t get it, but he did as told anyway. He stared at her for barely three seconds before the tips of his ears started turning red, little by little.
The girl in front of him was seriously gorgeous—the prettiest woman he had ever seen. Her skin was smooth as cream, and her features were so delicate they looked like something painted by hand.
With a face like that, Ethan Whitfield was really going to divorce her without even showing up once. What a waste...
Cecilia Hartwell snapped her fingers, cool and crisp. "Focus."
Adrian let out a dumb little "Oh," then forced himself to look straight into her eyes again.
Not long after, everything in front of him started to blur more and more...
...
Ten minutes later, Cecilia curled her lips into a faint smile. "Now do exactly what I told you."
Adrian nodded obediently. "Yes."
He picked up the divorce agreement and ripped it cleanly in half with one sharp motion, then immediately called Ethan Whitfield.
"Mr. Whitfield, the divorce has been handled."
Cecilia folded her arms and leaned lazily against the tree trunk, watching every move he made without a word. The cool evening breeze lifted the hem of her pale dress, soft and gentle-looking, but the meek sweetness on her face was fading fast. In its place was a wild, untamed arrogance, like she was born to look down on the world.
After hanging up, Adrian bent at a perfect ninety-degree angle and bowed to Cecilia respectfully.
"You can go now."
"Yes!" Adrian nodded like crazy, absurdly well-behaved, then turned and left.
Cecilia narrowed her eyes at his retreating figure, then took out her phone and dialed a number. "Phantom, check where Ethan Whitfield is."
The voice on the other end was cold as ice, all business, no nonsense. "Yes, boss."
Less than a minute later, a message popped up on her phone.
[Ethan Whitfield returned to the country last night. He is currently at Yufu Banquet Center, attending a social engagement.]
Cecilia put away her phone and lifted the corner of her lips.
Ethan Whitfield, since you're back, it's time to settle the score.
She was going to take back everything she had lost.
Cecilia walked into the underground garage, swung herself into the Maserati, started the engine, and the car shot out like an arrow released from the bow.
