Introdução
The night Vanilor's army destroyed my kingdom, I lost everything. My parents were murdered. My people were wiped out. And instead of dying beside them, I was taken captive by the very king who gave the order. Torin. He's gathering every Bearer across the nine kingdoms, convinced an ancient prophecy holds the key to stopping a war that hasn't begun yet. Some follow him willingly. The rest are dragged to his kingdom in chains. Including me. Every day I spend in his palace is another chance to avenge my family. But revenge becomes complicated when Torin's son falls in love with me... and Torin begins to feel something he never should. Then there's Duke, the one person I never planned on trusting, whose quiet loyalty slowly tears down the walls I've built around my heart. While kingdoms sharpen their swords against one another, something far worse is waiting beyond them. The heavens are preparing for war, powerful Bearers are awakening, and a prophecy that has shaped generations is finally unfolding. When the first blood is spilled, every kingdom will be forced to choose a side. So will I. Because before this war is over, I must decide whether vengeance is worth losing the only future I have left.

I wandered through the museum of Vanilor as my eyes were drawn to a statue that seemed almost alive in its stillness, a towering figure carved with fierce precision, Akira, a name I had heard only in whispers, yet seeing her here, immortalized in stone, stirred something deep inside me.

I turned to the guide walking beside me, curiosity lifting my voice into a question I had not expected to ask.

“Who was she?”

The man’s eyes flicked to the statue, reverence and caution crossing his face. “Akira,” he said, “the ash goddess feared across nine realms, most powerful of all bearers, drawn out from the ruins of her fallen kingdom.”

My chest tightened as I listened.

“Amid the smoldering remains of Torin's greatest conquest,” the guide continued, “He captured her.”

I swallowed hard and studied the statue more closely. “What happened next?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, my eyes still fixed on the figure before me as the guide leaned close.

“What began as a trophy for Torin, grew into something far more perilous,” the guide continued, and I could not look away as his voice painted vivid pictures in my mind.

“Torin found himself ensnared by feelings he dared not voice, even those closest to him unable to resist the pull of the same desire. Powers bent to his will, and such can threaten to destroy everything he had built.”

“How did it all begin?” I asked, my gaze lingering on the statue as I noticed a slender snake coiled into a ring around its finger, its head lifted in silent watch. The guide’s gaze softened as he began to speak, his voice carrying the weight of an ancient legend.

“Centuries ago, Torin ruled the realm of Vanilor, one among the nine. He was as ruthless as he was ambitious, driven by an unquenchable hunger for power. As a youth, he discovered a book that haunted his dreams as he grew. In his final dream, a cloaked figure with flowing gray hair appeared and said, 'To prevent this nightmare from unfolding, the boy must be stopped, and the nine Bearers must be gathered from the Nine Realms.'

Vanilor.

Aethel.

Nightveil.

Delmar.

Gravemire.

Celvaris.

Ashvale.

Bleakmore. And.

Solmiren.

“Driven by those words, Torin gathered the bearers, securing some through allegiance and forcing the rest into submission by war. Aethel, next in line, chose the path of resistance and accepted the inevitability of conflict.” He paused, then turned to me, his gaze locking with mine, and as he spoke his words no longer echoed in my ears but came alive, as though the past itself had reached out to claim me.

✦AKIRA'S POV✦

◈IN AETHEL◈

“Akira, Quinn!” my mother, Queen Charlotte, screamed from the battlements of Aethel as she stood there staring far beyond the gates, her eyes widening at the sight of dust rising over the hills where riders in Vanilor garments were approaching. She turned at once and ran through the castle halls breathless with urgency while still calling, “Akira… Quinn,” as if the repetition alone could pull us to safety before the invaders reached us.

“Quinn,” she called, her voice raw and shaky with terror, her face twisted with fear as she burst into our chamber and saw him training with a sword, the sound of metal slicing through the air cutting across the room. He paused mid motion, turning to face her in the same breath with the sword still in his right hand while she crossed the room quickly, reaching him and taking his left hand as she pulled him toward the door with urgency.
