"President Ming, it's her." A thin girl was pushed forward to the feet of Ming Jue.

"Lift up your head!" Ming Jue sounded slightly impatient.

The girl slowly raised her head, instantly stunning everyone present.

She was an exceptionally pretty girl. However, her shining, black eyes, set inside her almond-shaped ones, sparkled with radiance that made people look at her admiration and get stuck in their reverie.

"What's your name?" The tone of Ming Jue was low and indifferent, even implying undisguised disgust.

"Huan Huan," the girl replied in a low voice.

"From today onward, you’ll follow me and call me uncle. Your name will be Ming Lian. Got that?" Ming Jue sounded deep and mysterious.

"Understood… uncle," Ming Lian responded in a low tone, her voice filled with uncertainty about the future.

Ming Jue casually waved his hand, "Assign her a room to stay."

"Yes!" The butler was an old man with grey hair who seemed rather stern and difficult to deal with.

Upon hearing the command, he just responded, turned his head, and squinted at Ming Lian, "Follow me."

Ming Lian promptly followed. From now on, would she be living here?

But would the people here... all hate her?

"Here you go, this will be your room." The impatient butler opened the door to the room at the very end of the corridor. It was a room facing away from the sun.

Ming Lian knew that this room wasn't the best. It lacked sunlight. From the moment the door opened and the cold breeze wafted out, she sensed the butler's malice.

"Thank you." Ming Lian still had a smile on her face, her originally pretty face seemed as though it was fine jade in the morning glow, exuding myriad rays of light that were dazzling.

"Hmph." The butler snorted coldly and left.

Ming Lian glanced around the spacious room. The random furniture – such as the cabinet, bed, and the wardrobe – although a bit prosaic, made the room appear somewhat empty. Yet, it still came with an en suite bathroom which inevitably brought a smile to her face.

This was much better than the orphanage.

At the very least, she had a room to herself now.

At the very least, nobody would take advantage of her while she was asleep...

She couldn’t help but walk over to the soft bed, while it was simple, she knew the thick padding would be comfortable. She would no longer have to toss and turn due to an uncomfortable, hard bed.

With these thoughts, she lay down without waiting and quickly fell asleep.

When she opened her eyes again, everything was dark, which gave her a start.

"Huh!" She let out a deep breath, recalling the scene just before she fell asleep…

Had she already slept through dinner...

Nobody came to call her to eat, it didn’t seem to bother her. She lay back down and closed her eyes.

Meanwhile, the lights were still on in the hall downstairs. Ming Jue sat in front of the bar, holding a tall crystal glass in her hand. The red wine inside, under the shine of the light, carried a visually striking sensation that vaguely resembled blood.

Next to her was an entire shelf that was moved out specifically to store wines, and from what could be seen, they seemed to be priceless.

"I won't trouble a young girl, but, I also have no intention of kindly looking after an enemy's daughter." Ming Jue abruptly opened his mouth to speak.

"Yes, Young Master." House Steward Yu De stood respectfully to one side.

"Um." Ming Jue nonchalantly responded, casually placing the wine glass on the table, pressing a button as he got up. The wine wall retracted, quickly disappearing behind the cupboard, while he, without looking back, ascended the stairs.

Yu De knew that the Young Master had implicitly agreed to his treatment of the young girl.

That girl's father, Ming Qiao, had murdered his wife, causing the young master a lot of suffering in his youth, countless times lingering between life and death. It was only when the young master finally grew up and gradually began eating away at the other party's power as a way to vent the hatred of so many years that suddenly, Ming Qiao died of a heart attack.

The anger suppressed for over twenty years, naturally needed an outlet to vent.

Fortunately, Ming Qiao left a descendant in the world, a punching bag for the young master.

......

Ming Lian slept until daybreak, comfortably stretching her body in bed. Only when she was sure that she could no longer fall asleep, did she go to the bathroom to freshen up. Looking at her pale face in the mirror, a smile appeared.

"Ming Lian, keep going!" Now, she was Ming Lian. She had a new beginning.

She opened the door and walked out, going down the stairs, only to see Ming Jue's upright figure, seated formally at the dining table, without even lifting his eyes, as if he wasn't aware of her presence at all.

And the butler stood by his side, waiting to serve him.

"Good morning, Uncle. Good morning, Mr. Butler." Ming Lian didn't care, she greeted them with a smile, her face filled with youthful cheerfulness.

Ming Jue didn't lift his head, the housekeeper seemed unmoved. The smile on her face faltered somewhat, it was then that she looked at the food on the table, and it hit her - last night, she had really gone to bed starving.

"Um... Mr. Butler, is there any food left? I'm a bit hungry!” As if to prove her words, Ming Lian's stomach grumbled in time. Her face blushed slightly.

With sidelong glance at Ming Jue, her heart felt uncertain. Uncle wouldn't want to starve her to death, would he?
