Introduction
Jason was her childhood sweetheart. They were next-door neighbors. His family owned a grocery store and a machine shop while Samantha’s family owned a restaurant, a salon, and a snack shop. He played with her everyday and he would always protect her from harm. He would also sing songs to her as if wooing her. His parents were the matchmakers. They wanted their son to end up with her since Samantha’s family has a good reputation.
Back then, Samantha was six years old while Jason was seven. They spent four years playing together after school and during school vacations. He was always proud of her, especially during her first ballet recital where she was the lead child ballerina. He also jokingly commented on her first communion that her attire looks as if she is going to marry. She didn’t know how to react then but her young heart knows that if she is to marry, it would be to Jason only.
Samantha was content with her life even if the other kids would not want to play with her because she is clumsy and chubby. She has Jason after all. He never leaves her side and is always supportive. He always chooses her as a partner or a teammate even if she will just be a burden to him. She always felt warm in her heart and grateful that she has Jason,
However, a turn of fate sent all the businesses of Samantha’s family crumbling down. They had to leave. They had to migrate somewhere else where they could build themselves up from the ground again. Samantha’s parents found a new business opportunity in the neighboring province and decided to migrate the whole family immediately.
Since she was just 10 years old, Samantha had no say in the matter. Even if she didn’t want to leave school and didn’t want to part ways with Jason, she has no choice. What’s worse is that she didn’t even get to say goodbye to him. She felt so sad and heartbroken. She thought that she was going to live her life and grow up side by side with Jason until they were old enough to be in a romantic relationship.
As they were leaving, all she could think about was how handsome, intelligent, agile, and gentlemanly Jason is. She would definitely miss him and all the moments they shared together. But would he miss her too? Will she be able to come back? When? Won’t he be angry with her that she never got to say goodbye? What if he finds another girl to love?
