-Fuck....- I rubbed my head in frustration having yet another nightmare. This incident was hunting me for five years and I was getting sick of it. I was getting sick of them.

Like a slug I got out of bed and went straight to the bathroom in order to do my morning routine.

-Vick!!!Were are you? - I heard a familiar voice coming from outside of the bathroom.

-Lora,I'm in the bathroom. Give me a minute! - Lora sighed so loud that I could hear her behind closed door.

-Hurry up!We are gonna be late for morning call and today we better not be late!

-Yeah,yeah...- I mumble watching my reflection in the mirror. I pulled my long red hair into a messy bun,it bothered me with her length but I just refused to cut it short. I guess more out of spite than anything else,no man will order me to cut it.Even if that man was sensei Kaine,mysterious man who wears a mask that prevents most of his face from being visible. No one knows how he looks like,even his comrades don't remember clearly.

When I walked out for a second my eyes got stuck on Lora sitting on my bed gazing into unknown with stupid smile on her face.

-What are you daydreaming about? - I asked while getting my uniform on.

-Just wondering about Levi,imagining how he looks like. By his reputation I hope he's handsome.

Levi,Captain of The Hunters. Hm,I wondered the same...but not for the same reasons Lora was.Levi was a great warrior, killer of the monster's that wanted to climb over our walls and devour us. Apparently he killed hundreds and apparently hundreds of soldiers died under his command.

-Well,Lora today is your lucky day cause you are gonna see him.Now let's get moving.

We ran through the hallways of the huge dorm for soldiers, our heels from the leather boots echoed disturbing the ones that were resting after the all nighter.I couldn't care less because we are going to be late.

-Just on time. - I said in one breath taking my place at the front row.Sensei Kaine gave me quick glance,he didn't look pleased with my late appearance.

-Vick,you should really get yourself together. Grow up.- My brother Noa who was standing beside me had something to say,as usual. Always giving me lectures when I do something that he thinks isn't right.

I just smiled at him before turning my attention over to Kaine. Soon he started calling us out,one by one,to confirm that everyone was here.Next was the team positions on the walls,as usual my team was placed on the south wall.Nothing much was happening on that side and if it did we couldn't act,all we are supposed to do is call for backup. We could only act is there was an immediate threat.

While Kaine was giving out positions some guy stepped next to him,with hud over his head and leather jacket. On the jacket he had a badge with white wolf on it,The Hunters squad.

-Like announced,Captain Levi joined us today for recruiting. He will examine your applications and assess them to his liking based on your abilities. Later today you will be informed if you pass or not.

I watched as Captain reviled his face to us,he was young like us,maybe in between 20-25 years old,he had black undercut and narrow, intimidating dark gray eyes,he was nothing like I imagined and by the look on Lora's face she didn't either.

-Why are you smirking soldier?-Captain Levi came close to me looking me dead in the eyes.I wasn't even aware that I was smirking until he called me out.

-You are not what I expected, Sir.

-Is that so.What,did you expect?

-Someone taller,Sir. -My blunt answer made my squad giggle.I was just being honest even if it did sound funny. Captain Levi was just few centimeters taller then me,but compering him to other men here,Levi was short.

-Sorry to disappoint you soldier. State your name.-Fuck,Levi is cold as ice.I'm screwed, next time I should keep my mouth shut, now I could pay for insulting the Captain.

-Vick....I mean Victoria,Victoria Reeve.

-Great,I'm being insulted by a soldier who doesn't even know how to say her name.-Captain Levi said moving away from me, he again took his place next to Kaine. Now giggling was pointed at me and I disliked that.

-Report to your stations.

After Kaine's last word's we all teamed up and saddle our horses to ride to the walls. Before I left,I glanced back at Captain Levi, to my surprise I met with his gaze,then with Kaine's.Shit...impression I gave today was not good.

-Vick,what were you thinking back there?

-Same as you Lora.Captain is nothing like we expected. -We talked while riding our horses next to each other.

-Yes,but next time think before you open your mouth.

-To late now.- I rolled the scenario that happened in my head.I really screwed up,that wasn't my intention. Maybe Lora is right,I'm always blunt and straightforward, next time I'll do things differently...if there is going to be next time.

-I almost bursted up laughing.Way to go Vick!-Dorian spoke behind us,eavesdropping like usual.

-Don't encourage her stupidity.You always do that and she end's up in trouble because of you.-Lora scolded him,but she didn't end up with that. Scolding continued,both of them started to argue and I,I just shut down.

I ride up,in front of my team,my eyes glued on to the land that was surrounding us.Tall green grass,patches of trees that we called wood's, plots that produced food to feed our backsides. All of that was nothing,not enough for the city that was growing,we need more land to conquer,we need to eradicate the threat behind the walls.

When we got to our station weather changed,sun that was shining on us on our way here was now hidden behind dark clouds. Soon rain started falling, but luckily for us it wasn't heavy,our surveillance wasn't disturbed that much.Even if it did it doesn't matter, nothing ever happens here.

I stepped on the edge of the wall and looked down. Two Howlers were there,sensing me they try to climb up the concrete wall,their claws just couldn't grab onto it making them stumble back down. They would snarl up at me then try again. They looked hungry,eager to rip flesh from our bones,to feast tearing us apart.

-Here. You're gonna catch a cold.-Noa shaved in my hand a raincoat.

-Hm...are you not going to say anything that happened. - I asked seeing that he planned to leave.

-It's getting pointless, Vick you are way different then me. Everytime I try to talk to you,you don't listen. It's like I'm talking to a wall,you're never going to change.

-Noa,I'm sorry but I need to be strong.

-Vick,you are not being strong, you are being stupid.

With that said Noa started walking away.

-I applied for joining The Hunters.

That planted his feet. When he turned around to face me,rage was present in his eyes.

-Did I hear that right? -With out me answering Noa charges at me. Quick reaction from Lucas saved me from Noa,he grabbed him before Noa could reach me.

-Are you out of your mind!Joining the death squad!- Noa screamed trying to wiggle out from Lucas,lucky for me Lucas is the strongest of us all. That drove attention from Lora and Dorian that were further away from us. They came running toward us.

-What's going on?

-Did I hear someone mentioning death squad?

-Yes,my idiot sister wants to join them!

-What?Are you serious?- Lora came to me and started shaking my shoulders.

-Yes,I'm not going to stand here doing nothing.Day after day all I do is watch Howlers and can't do shit about it. I wanna be out there,killing them,freeing our people from this prison.

-Lucas,let me go!I'm going to beat out that idea from her head!

-Noa,calm down.Beating her won't do shit. - Lucas tried to reason with my angry brother and knowing him,he meant every word he said.

-Vick...I applied too.Shit,we could go together.

-Shut up you idiot!- Lora plunged her fist at Dorian's face,she hit him so hard that he flew away landing on his back.Blood came out of his nose covering his mouth,it started dripping down on rain covered wall.We all froze not expecting that,even Noa froze looking bluntly at injured Dorian.

-You are next...-I heard before taking a hit just like Dorian did.Lora actually  took me down,that never happened before. In four years of training, I would always beat her down,always win.Lora was weak in my eye's, but now she proved me wrong. There's strength hidden deep inside of her.

With pleased smile on my face I stretched on the wet concrete, I was happy for her. But my smile didn't last long.

I felt vibrations under my body.

-Call for backup!- I screamed from the top of my lounges.
