Introduction
Elena never stayed anywhere long. Parents died and after that, it was just constant moving. New cities, new schools, never enough time to feel like she actually belonged. Then she landed in Las Vegas and something finally clicked. For once she didn’t feel the urge to pack up and leave. That peace didn’t last. She met the Salvatore brothers and everything got complicated fast. Damone was the easy one. Confident, charming, the type who could make her talk about things she usually kept locked up. Edward hit different. The way he looked at her, the way he spoke, it felt like love at first sight in the most inconvenient way possible. She ended up caught between both of them. What started as attraction turned vicious. Jealousy. Resentment. The brothers who used to be close started treating each other like enemies, and Elena watched the only place that ever felt like home start falling apart because of her. Late-night arguments, silent stares that could cut skin. Both of them making it clear they would rather burn everything down than watch her choose the other. Now she has to pick one. But the night she finally decides, she walks in on the two of them in a room she was never supposed to enter, and what she sees makes it clear that choosing might not even matter anymore. One of them is already willing to destroy the other for good.

Elena Bassett's POV

“Is this really going to be my life?”

I whisper to myself as I stare at my empty box in the middle of the room waiting for it to

be packed

“At this age my mates are settling down and here I am still looking for a place to call

home”

I mumble under my breath as I start folding my clothes aggressively into my box

“This is pointless, I'm probably going to end up moving again, no need to get my hopes

up” I said to myself

Just as I was about to fold my last sweater to drop in my box, an old frame falls out of

the pocket of the sweater, a frame which I don't recall having at all

I use my fingers to brush through the frame

"Mom”

“Dad”

I whisper quietly, withholding my tears

I stare at the frame for some time just to have a quick flashback of how happy I was and

how good life was when they were still here.

“I miss you guys everyday” I say to myself in a low tone with a smile on my face ,I blow

the frame a kiss and drop the frame back in the pocket of my sweater ready to take it

with me on my journey

Suddenly i hear a loud knock on my room door, the house mistress had come to find out

if i was all packed and ready to sign out

“Elena! it's time for you to move your stuff out” the mistress said joyfully

I looked at my room one last time before I stepped out, the empty shelves and the

unmade bed, which was once a dream I feared, now became a reality after so long of

me being here I couldn't bring myself to feel sad that I was leaving another part of me

behind, maybe it is because I’d stop feeling at home since my parents passed

“I guess it’s time”

I murmured under my breath, goodbyes had become so regular that I just released a

huge sigh while rolling my box to the car.

While walking to the car I turn back to have a final glance of the place before I set

off ,my journey officially begins, I get on the train with little or no idea what my future

holds for me this time.

I close my eyes for what felt like 25 minutes just to wake up to 16 missed calls from my

mom's friend Elizabeth Forbes, I had no clue why she had called that many times, but

this was something i wasn't looking forward to. I look outside the window and there was

a big, huge sign board which had read

“HOME IS IN VEGAS”

I sighed. Just then Miss Forbes called

“Hey Elena! I've been trying to reach you” Miss Forbes says in an exciting tone

“Hi aunty” I say softly

Miss Forbes and my mom go way back, I remember when we would go to the park, our

two families together, she and my mom were close enough to pass off as sisters, I just

hope having to live with her won't bring painful memories I’ve been trying to bury to

move on. Elizabeth keeps talking, my mind’s already zoned out. I just want to get all this

over with once and for all

“Okay Elena, just let me know when you're at pickup” Elizabeth said happily

Then it clicked! I was still on the call

“Okay aunty, no problem” I say in a haste, forcing myself to smile so it reflects in my

voice

“Is everything alright darling?” Elizabeth asked

“Yes aunty” I lie just so the conversation ends

“Okay, Okay, text me when you're here” Elizabeth repeats

I switch back to my calming music to finish what’s left of the journey, ten minutes away

from pickup and I suddenly start to feel a sharp pain around my chest area. Like today is

really the start of a new beginning, time to come down at pickup point and I had no idea

what the future held but everything changes here, from now on
