"Oh my, what a stunning mom and such adorable little ones!"
"Sweetie, Auntie has a pink bag. Want to come home with me?"
At Beicheng Railway Station, Jiang Chuwei stepped off the platform with three cute kids in tow, instantly drawing gasps of admiration.
This young mother, though makeup-free, was breathtakingly beautiful, her every move exuding charm, making her stand out in the crowd.
The children beside her wore masks, revealing only their large, sparkling eyes.
Their long eyelashes fluttered, so endearing that passersby couldn't resist the urge to pinch their little cheeks.
"Such adorable kids, can the government assign me one?" someone whispered.
Jiang Chuwei seemed oblivious to the surrounding gazes. She stared at the familiar yet foreign scene outside the station, a whirlwind of emotions in her heart.
Just then, Dabao's soft hand gently tugged at Jiang Chuwei's. "Mommy, is this where you grew up?"
Dabao's voice was sweet and tender, melting hearts and lightening the heavy feeling of returning home in Jiang Chuwei.
She smiled, gently stroking Dabao's soft hair. "Yes, Mommy is home."
Memories flooded back like a tide, the painful experience from six years ago feeling as if it had just happened yesterday.
Six years ago, Jiang Chuwei went to the airport to pick up her husband, whom she hadn't seen in two years.
But as soon as she arrived, chaos erupted. She was dragged into a dark lounge by a stranger, and something unspeakable happened...
Jiang Chuwei was utterly despondent. Her life had been a series of events beyond her control. From a young age, she had been deprived of parental love, and her existence was a mess. She had hoped to change her fate through diligent study and had finally been admitted to her dream university, only to be forced into marriage by her adoptive parents. It was supposed to be her sister, Jiang Ting, who was to be married off, but because the groom was disabled, Jiang Chuwei became the sacrificial lamb. Her adoptive parents couldn't bear to see their biological daughter suffer, yet they couldn't refuse the substantial dowry. They used the years of care they had provided to coerce her into marrying in her sister's place. Back then, from withdrawing from school to the engagement and wedding, no one had asked for her opinion. No one had asked if she agreed! They manipulated her future as easily as if she were a puppet. She had cried and protested, but in the end, she had bowed to reality. As the saying goes, marrying is like ascending to heaven, and leaving that cold, unfeeling home was perhaps a blessing in disguise. Since she was already married, she decided to be a good wife and mother. For the past two years, Yan Siyue had been abroad receiving treatment for his leg, and she had been alone in the vast, empty house, dutiful and honest, never entertaining any improper thoughts. This marriage was a new life she had exchanged for her education and future, and she cherished it dearly. But just on the day Yan Siyue returned, this incident occurred, and Jiang Chuwei even felt as if her life had come to an end.
How was she supposed to face the days ahead? How could she look her husband in the eye after what had happened? If she confessed that she had gone to the airport to pick him up, only to be caught in that chaotic scene and endure such a humiliating ordeal... would he even believe her? Why did fate always seem to have it out for her?
Just as Jiang Chuwei was drowning in despair, her phone rang. The housekeeper was urging her to come home, informing her that Yan Siyue had already returned. "The master came back and left again when he didn’t see you. Before he left, he said you should come back and sign the papers. He... he said you’ve been unfaithful and wants a divorce!"
Before Jiang Chuwei could even process the first blow, another one hit her like a tidal wave. Her mind went blank. Yan Siyue wanted a divorce? Unfaithful? Did he already know what had just happened to her? She felt like she was suffocating.
Her life was a tangled mess, impossible to unravel. What right did she have now to refuse the divorce? She had lost her purity; she was no longer worthy of him. It turned out that when heartbreak reached its peak, it didn’t feel like pain anymore—it felt like numbness.
Jiang Chuwei said nothing, wiped the tears from her face, and went home to sign the divorce papers. During that period, her life was plunged into utter darkness.
Soon after, she discovered she was pregnant, which only seemed to confirm Yan Siyue's accusation of her being "unfaithful." She was nearly drowned by the tide of public opinion. Even her adoptive parents, ashamed of her, severed ties and kicked her out of the house.
Though she knew the child was from that stranger, Jiang Chuwei decided to keep the baby. Determined not to let her tarnished reputation affect the child, she resolutely left the city and moved to the countryside to live alone.
Over the years, Jiang Chuwei raised her three children in the countryside, living a carefree and happy life. It was almost like a paradise on earth. This period of time nearly healed all the wounds in her heart.
But as the children grew older, she had to start considering their education and future. While the mountains were beautiful, the children had come into this world and shouldn't spend their lives in obscurity. They deserved to witness the splendor of the world.
After much deliberation, she finally decided to take her children down the mountain to seek their fortunes.
Emerging from her memories, Jiang Chuwei gently touched the faces of her three little ones. Though she had once hit rock bottom, heaven had still favored her, giving her these three little angels as compensation. Her three children were truly a gift from above!
Dabao was like a little adult, quiet but decisive, with both high IQ and EQ. Every gesture of his exuded the aura of a leader.
Erbao, on the other hand, was a livewire, always bouncing around and excelling in every kind of mischief and brawl. If he were to submit a resume, under hobbies and life aspirations, it would probably just say "fighting" in bold letters.
As for Sanbao, he was the complete opposite of Erbao, a true little gentleman. Though timid and not as intellectually gifted as his older brothers, he was incredibly thoughtful. At a young age, he could already cook dishes that would make a Michelin chef bow in respect! What was most astonishing was that this child was also a born perfumer and designer. Give him a few fruits or a bunch of flowers, and he could concoct a unique fragrance. A few casual doodles from him could turn into an exquisite piece of clothing or jewelry design.
Jiang Chuwei often mused that whoever married her three adorable boys in the future would surely be blessed with a lifetime of happiness!
It was at this moment that Sanbao piped up, "Mommy, where is Daddy buried? Can we visit his grave while we're back?"
Hearing the word "Daddy," Jiang Chuwei looked down at her three treasures, and a wave of guilt washed over her. Years ago, to stop the daily questions about where their father was, she had lied to them, saying their father had passed away. Now, how was she going to tell her three adorable children that she was here to get a divorce?
