Donald kept switching sides in bed, He suffered from insomnia virtually his entire life. Coupled together with him being jobless, He thought about home and the idea of moving back to his parents house would make his dad see him as a failure.

" I have to go back, my rent's due, I don't care what that old man thinks".

now facing the wall, He reminisced the good old days when he was a boy, his dad was his hero, they went fishing together and they they did almost everything together. Until he got a girl pregnant.

Moments later, he got a buzz from his phone.

" Don't miss thanksgiving diner."

He turned to the alarm,

" 3:02, why is mom awake by this time? that man must have been giving her problems again."

He thought for a while, decided to call her, but after a few trial, she picks up.

" Mom, you're awake, i saw your text. why are you still awake by this time?."

" Who else but your father?, he's not yet home."

" You need to go to bed mom, he doesn't care. when he's done drinking, he'll come home, you'll see."

" you know i can't sleep without him being home, i guess I'll just wait for sometime. you take care of yourself. bye."

He later took his laptop and began his daily routine ever since he lost his job, looking up jobs online till he slept off.

" Knock! Knock!!"

The sudden banging on the front door woke Donald. Soon the banging became intense and he hurried to check who the visitor was.

" Lucy?, why you here so early?"

" Did you block my number Donald?, ive tried calling you but its not reachable, i even came to your house a couple of times but i couldn't find the spare keys under the mat, are you avoiding me?

" Stop being a drama queen, is that why you didn't even hug me?, come here sugar."

He drew her close and tried to plant a kiss.

" Ewww, you smell like weed, are you stoned?"

" Hey, i just took a little, and I'm good."

" Shut up looser, you high as f*ck."

She hits his chest and ran to the bedroom.

" I see what you're doing Lucy, I'm game!, what's my name again?"

he shrieked.

" Sugar daddy"

She giggled.

" Hey babe, why is your kitchen empty?"

" I lost my job Lucy, i was waiting for the right time to tell you i sw...."

" When?"

" a month ago, babe i swear i was going to tell you."

" so if i hadn't been in town, you probably won't have told me?, what do you take me for Donald? I'm your fiancee for crying out loud".

" I know what i did was stupid, i lacked the courage to tell you". He went where she was standing and cuddled up against her by the kitchen doorway.

" I still haven't forgiven you, meanwhile, the offer at my uncle's poultry farm still stands" she broke free from him and headed to the couch.

" No way!, there's absolutely no way I'll agree to work in that farm, these chickens are monsters".

" says a jobless man".

He walked to where she was seated and stole the remote from her.

" I'm taking you to see my parents on thanksgiving."

" you heard me the first time, please don't say no, i already told her I'm bringing someone".

" okey I'm going on one condition, you'll get me a new dress. oops! i forgot, you're broke".

" I'm not broke, just financially unstable"

" Same thing dumb ass".

She laughed uncontrollably and suddenly stared at him for seconds, she kissed his forehead and gently kissed him.

" what was that all about?, are you okey babe?".

She sat properly on the couch and her serious face worried Donald.

" I'm pregnant"

Shocked and also confused, he tried not to panick, he faked a smile and drew her close.

" I'm gon be father soon?"

" yes baby"

She smiled back, seeing he's cool with it.

" The doctor said its three weeks old, i know that its the wrong time to break the news but i couldn't keep it to myself anymore, I'm sorry"

" Dont be sorry angel, we both in these together".

He reached for her tummy as if he could see the baby inside, and kissed it.

" I love you both"

She kissed him and went to the room to get her phone.

" Since your kitchen is empty, how about i order for some Chinese food?". she suggested.

Donald was lost in thoughts, the news of Lucy being pregnant now adds to his problems. He loves her so much but the idea of a baby on the way is big to chew.
