“Boss, Kress—no, I mean Eva Harrison—she’s gone.” The man’s eyes glinted with a smirk.

Arthur Wallace, addressed as the boss, got up from his chair. He stared out at the blazing sunlight and asked, “Body confirmed?”

“DNA results are in. No doubt about it. She took a few henchmen down with her, but nothing major.”

“And the intel she had on her?”

“Completely destroyed. Burned to ash.”

Only then did Arthur nod with approval, murmuring, “Well, looks like we’ll need a new Third Leader…”

Two months after Eva’s death, Christopher Clark finally got the news.

Back then, as soon as the military received the intel Eva had sent, she vanished. No trace, no word—until today, when her death was confirmed.

This undercover mission set up by the Clark family had dragged on for six years. Now, it was finally over.

Gazing at the bright full moon overhead, Christopher let out a long sigh.

“Rest easy…”

Across the ocean, in a dim, unlit warehouse of a certain country, only the glow of a few computer screens lit up the massive underground space, casting shadows over a blonde woman’s tired face.

A report was open on the monitor—an official one from far, far away.

Isabelle Giles poured herself a drink, staring at the two words “Deceased” on the screen. She gently ran her finger along the rim of the glass, sat in silence for a beat, then tipped her head back and downed the drink in one go.

“You promised me dinner… liar.”

“You said you’d survive… liar…”

Muttering under her breath, she slowly slouched onto the desk, eyes fixed on the now-empty glass. At some point, tears slid silently down her cheeks and along her arm.

“Eva… you damn liar…” she whispered.

“Even if I die, I’m taking someone down with me.”

Then came the explosion—chaotic, deafening.

Agony. It felt like her whole body was being ripped apart, limbs twisting in all directions, ready to be torn away.

Was this… dying?

In her daze, voices drifted in through the pain.

“Dr. Sinclair! Room 5’s patient seems to be waking up!”

Eva slowly blinked, her vision clearing just enough to see an unfamiliar ceiling above her.

Before she could piece anything together, the door clicked and a doctor in a long white coat stepped in.

That’s when it hit her—she was in a hospital.

I’m… alive? That can’t be right…

After a quick check-up, the doctor asked, “Anywhere hurting?”

It wasn’t until he brought it up that Eva noticed a dull ache in her right side.

She reached down instinctively—her hand landed on something soft.

Startled, she looked down—then froze. Why is it so big? That… there's no way this is her stomach!

The doctor saw her holding her side and thought the injury was still hurting. “Don’t worry,” he said kindly, “it’s normal to feel some pain now, but the good thing is the wound didn’t hit any organs. Rest up for a bit and you’ll be fine. Carter, you’ll need to stay here a few days, but you should be out soon.”

Eva froze.

Carter… was he talking to her?

After the doctor left the room, she glanced down at the hospital bracelet on her wrist.

“Sophia Carter. 19. Male.”

Sophia… Carter?

“Ugh…”

A searing pain suddenly tore through her head. She clenched her teeth, her temples throbbing as veins popped.

Memories that weren’t hers surged forward like a tidal wave, scene after scene flickering through her mind like a broken film reel.

That’s when it hit her—she wasn’t Eva Harrison anymore, the agent who’d spent six years undercover in KZ. She was now Sophia Carter, the so-called eldest son of the Carter family in W City. It had been nearly a year since she "died."

Sophia’s backstory was a mess. Her mother came from nothing, but George Carter insisted on marrying her, even though his mother, Eleanor Carter, was totally against it. There was a huge standoff in the family. Eventually, Eleanor gave in, let the marriage happen, but she never liked her daughter-in-law. Said she was beneath her son.

Two years into the marriage, Mrs. Carter got pregnant and gave birth to a girl. Fearing Eleanor’s obsession with boys, she lied and said the baby was a boy. Even so, Eleanor barely cared for “him.”

As for George, who once made grand promises of love, he got bored just a year in. He began cheating, and Mrs. Carter died from illness shortly after Sophia’s first birthday.

Eleanor wasted no time finding a new wife for her son—Laura Sinclair, daughter of another bigshot family in W City.

Sinclair never liked Sophia. No one in the Carters really did. Sophia grew up basically ignored, totally left on her own. Over time, it twisted her personality—she became timid and always anxious, and she stress-ate her way to 180 pounds.

Then came Sinclair’s two perfect kids: a son and a daughter, both gorgeous, bright, and loved. Compared to them, Sophia looked like a walking eyesore—weak, slow, and overweight.

And this whole hospitalization? That was thanks to her sweet little stepbrother Thomas Carter.

Ever since they were kids, Thomas and his sister bullied Sophia like it was sport. A few days ago, he rounded up some thugs and jumped her outside school. During the scuffle, one of them stabbed her.

That was the end for the real Sophia Carter.

When she opened her eyes again, Eva was the one living in her body.

Lying in the hospital bed, Eva stared blankly at the ceiling, unable to process what the hell just happened.She... came back to life?
