Bad news: she landed inside a novel. Good news: she knew the plot!
The moment Isabella Parker opened her eyes, she was startled to see a ridiculously handsome guy lying next to her—sharp features, clean-cut look—and not a shred of clothing on him.
She thought she'd just had a wild dream and accidentally slept with a stranger, but reality hit fast: she’d transmigrated into a book.
First thing that came to mind? Hide anything suspicious—because a house search storm was about to roll in. Second? Snatch back the golden cheat meant to be hers.
The novel was titled *Spoil Me, Boss Daddy of the '70s*. The female lead, Sophia Mitchell, was the chosen one, and also the original her's stepsister. The male lead, Ethan Collins, had fate on his side.
As for the man beside her—Oliver Hayes—he was the unlucky scapegoat in the original plot: sickly most of his life, ended up handing over the family business to the male lead, and even dragged his siblings down with him. Now? He was suddenly her brand new husband.
Her own deal? Even worse. An unloved daughter, forced into marriage because the female lead didn’t want it, robbed of her golden finger, and eventually got taken out by the lovebirds.
Seriously, what a tragic pair they were.
Actually, scratch that—not just them. Seems like the whole Hayes family was doomed to lose, while the other couple and their folks had everything going for them.
A cold chill ran through Isabella.
She wasn't about to become cannon fodder just because fate said so.
No way. Starting now, she was rewriting the script entirely—saving herself and the Hayes family from their pitiful ending.
Oliver’s grandpa used to be a capitalist before voluntarily giving up the family's steel factory during the reform. Now Oliver's dad was the factory manager. But according to the original, the city’s Revolutionary Committee was sending people over tonight for a house search.
They’d "find" a fake treason letter from her father-in-law to a foreign contact, along with a stash of gold and silver. That’d be enough to get him labeled a traitor and sentenced to death. And the rest of the family? Hauled off for “hiding illegal property” and exiled in five days.
But the truth was, the whole thing was a setup. Someone planted the letter and the treasure just to frame them. The most urgent thing now was to find that letter accusing them of collaborating with the enemy and any hidden valuables. Isabella Parker gently nudged the man lying next to her, her tone a little on edge. "Hey, I had this weird dream just now while I was asleep. In it, someone came to our house and searched it out of nowhere—they actually found stuff we weren’t supposed to have, and it caused huge trouble for the whole family. It felt way too real. Can you get up and check the rooms? I’ve just got a bad feeling.”
Oliver Hayes frowned, clearly puzzled. "Isabella, what are you trying to pull this time?"
First, she talked about sleeping separately, then suddenly wanted to get close to him, and now she wanted him to get up and search the house.
Isabella looked him straight in the eye. "We’re already sharing a bed, and that makes me part of this family. I’m just worried something’s going to go wrong.”
Oliver thought for a moment, then nodded, seemingly buying her explanation. He got up and began putting on his clothes.
As he dressed, he said, "No matter what, we're married now. I’ll take care of you. You don’t have to worry—I won’t treat you badly.”
"Yeah, yeah, let's just focus on finding anything suspicious right now,” she said, quickly getting dressed herself to help with the search.
The two of them stepped out of the bedroom, one after the other, and found Mrs. Hayes and Lily Hayes still sitting in the living room. Everyone else had gone to bed.
Mrs. Hayes quickly got up to greet them. "It’s late. Why are you two still up instead of resting?"
Isabella had dressed in a rush, and her collar wasn’t properly buttoned—Mrs. Hayes caught sight of the red mark on her collarbone. As someone who had been around, she instantly knew what that meant: her son and daughter-in-law had finally consummated their marriage. She could start dreaming about grandkids now.
Oliver explained, "Mom, I can’t sleep. I’ve got this uneasy feeling something’s going to happen. You know what kind of work we used to do... now that things are tense out there, I think we should check the house and make sure there’s nothing lying around that could get us in trouble. Just in case someone decides to search."
Mrs. Hayes looked confused. "What could we possibly have left? We already gave up most of our stuff, and what the state asked for, we handed over like we were supposed to. The place’s clean—there’s nothing for anyone to dig up.”
"Mom, it’s just not like before anymore. Don’t you remember what happened to Uncle Cullen’s family? We’ve got a lot of people in this house. You might feel confident, but what if someone else secretly tucked something away?”
Mrs. Hayes couldn’t help glancing over at the rooms belonging to the second branch of the family. Honestly, none of them were exactly model citizens. She wouldn’t be shocked if they were hiding something they shouldn’t be.
"Alright, I’ll go let your dad know and wake up your Uncle Edward and his lot."
