A sharp burst of pain came over her, a burning sensation spread across her face...

Emily Midway's eyes flickered faintly, she moved her lips slightly, to feel even more pain on her face.

"You're awake?"

Kattie Midway, dressed in a tight-fitting pink evening dress, threw the dagger she held in her hand to the floor, making a dull impact. Emily opened her eyes and saw the blood-stained dagger, feeling a series of sharp pains in her heart.

"I won't have to look at your sickening face anymore." Kattie looked down at Emily on the ground with a look of disdain, as if she were looking at vermin. She lifted her foot and pressed her stiletto to the bloody wound on Emily's face. Emily's cry of anguish filled the room, her slender body convulsed intermittently. The pain was like a burning, reminding her that all this was not a dream. The woman she'd always thought of as her younger sister, on her wedding day, had drugged her until she lost consciousness, then, with several stabs, had demolished her face! Blood rushed back into her mouth and nose.

“Cough!” Emily spits out a mouthful of blood.

“Bitch!” Kattie glanced down at the blood-spattered high heels, and a violent moan echoed through the room. She kicked away the woman whose face was bloodied, with wounds so deep her bones were visible. Emily grunted, her eyes fixed on the woman in front of her, this ruthless, cunning woman, was it really Kattie?

Kattie seemed to see through Emily's thoughts instantly and slowly began to speak.

“Emily, you've always looked down on me. You see me, who followed my mother to marry into the Midway family,

as an outsider, a lower-class person, pandering to me at every turn. Yet the most pathetic person is you, like an idiot, deceived by me and my mother from beginning to end, because...”

Kattie paused slightly, her eyes filled with mischievous joy as she exclaimed: “I'm my father's biological daughter!”

It was as if a thunderclap had exploded next to Emily's ear. She seemed to lose all sensation of pain in an instant, Kattie's words ringing in her ears.

"She...She is father's biological daughter? How is that possible!!"

It was clearly two years after his mother's death that Penelope Murphy was finally able to marry into our family. A ray of white light crossed Emily's mind. She seemed to have forgotten the intense pain on her face, her eyes lost in emptiness and staring ahead.

Kattie spoke with a grim look on her face. “Father never liked your mother, who married into our family who had nothing. He simply saw the potential in your mother's family. The only reason he married your mother is because he had no other choice! Besides, your mother is an intruder, taking the place that should have belonged to my mother”. “And you, you usurped the place of Miss Midway, you took everything that should have belonged to me! But over the years, my mother and I have slowly reclaimed it all.”

“Shut up!” Emily roared furiously at Kattie, the wound on her face torn, the sight horrifying. It was clear that they

were the thieves! Kattie and her mother had destroyed Emily's mother's life and now they wanted to ruin hers too! Scenes from the past flashed before Emily's eyes. She had always thought that her father's tenderness towards Kattie was due to his fear of being perceived as harsh towards his daughter-in-law by outsiders. Despite her father's displeasure, she had never paid any attention to it, thinking it was her fault, her lack of attractiveness. But now that she

thought about it, her father had never hugged her, never attended a parent-teacher meeting for her, never celebrated her birthdays personally...

Despite the pain, Emily gritted her teeth and said, “I want to meet Peter Midway.”

“Emily, haven't you come to your senses yet? In Father's eyes, you're worth less than a dog, just like your worthless mother; your death would be no loss.” Emily's heart lurched painfully.

I mean, why hadn't she realized it yet? What good would it do, even if she confronted him? If this man really cared about her, why had he let her become the laughingstock of high society, repeatedly betrayed and framed, and even falsely accused of murdering her own younger brother? Kattie watched Emily's desolate expression and felt an exhilarating satisfaction. “Emily, do you think it's over? The Anderson family has completely fallen apart, and your grandfather died in prison this morning.”

Emily's eyes widened in shock. She choked and spat out a mouthful of blood, her throat squealing like that of a trapped animal, sending shivers down her spine.

Kattie felt a momentary chill, but on second thought, this dying woman was no longer a threat. The situation had already been resolved, and she had no chance of reversing it. With a creak, the door was pushed open. Seeing the person who had just entered, a glimmer of hope lit up Emil's hollow eyes. She opened her mouth to speak, but someone beat her to it: “Davis Connolly Stampton.”

“Kattie, the Stampton family have already taken the bride away,” the man said contemptuously, his gaze settling on Emily as if he were looking at something dirty. “It's time to take care of her!” Looking at the intimate couple in front of her, the last vestiges of light in Emily's heart flickered and faded. Thinking of that man's face, Emily dug her nails into her flesh, spending her last breath to scream, “You dare! If the Stampton family finds out the bride has been switched, they won't let you get away with it!” Kattie giggled, “Sister, you're overthinking this. This affair will never be discovered.” “Your best friend, Elena Lannister, has already taken your place and ridden in the wedding procession”

Kattie squatted, expressing her joy. “It cost me ten million to get Elena's face, and as long as you die, from this moment on, Elena will be Emily Midway!”. Upon hearing this name, Emily's already extremely painful heart sent another stab of pain. She couldn't believe that those she treated sincerely had all betrayed her.

Davis put his arm affectionately around Kattie's shoulder, letting her lean against his chest.

“We haven't heard from the Stampton family for half an hour. I'm sure they've cleared the hurdle. There's no need to keep that woman around.”

“My dear Davis, after all, Emily has given so much for you, can you really bear to let her go?”

“My little Kattie, you know you're the only one in my heart from beginning to end. Being with her was

just to use her.” Emily stared at them both, eyes bulging, like a demon returned from hell to claim lives. The people

she loved wanted her dead, but the people she didn't love were trying to save her.

Is there anything more ironic in this world?

Emily resigned herself to her fate. In this life, she owed too many things, and dying was no mercy,

but she was still so unwilling...

With a wild smile, Kattie said: “Sister, don't be so sad. Your family is about to reunite. You should be happy.” Emily's throat was blocked with thick blood, producing a gurgling sound like a curse.

Kattie felt her arm grow goosebumps and frowned. “Someone gets rid of her immediately!” As the words were spoken, two black-clad individuals entered through the door, instantly spraying the room with kerosene.

The fire burned, painting everything blood-red. In the sea of fire, the bloodied and mutilated face slowly turned a charred black... But those eyes still stared, unmoving, in the direction of the departing couple.

Emily swore to herself that even if she had to suffer an unfortunate fate over and over again, she'd get her revenge!
