Max Miller hummed a cheery tune as he rode his shared bicycle. He was in a good mood because today, was Valentine's Day and he was meeting up with his girlfriend.

He stopped in front of a fancy and expensive Western restaurant where he would meet his girlfriend and took out a fine necklace, freshly purchased from a jewelry shop, intending to gift it to his girlfriend.

Originally, he wanted to gift her a Lamborghini Roadster but after some thought, he felt that giving her a gift he bought with money he worked hard for would show his sincerity.

Therefore, he spent three months' worth of his savings—

2 800 dollars—to buy this necklace.

After about ten minutes, the latest model Mercedes Benz pulled up in front of him.

A dazzling young girl got out of the Mercedes.

Max was stunned.

It was his girlfriend, Harley Smith!

"Your... Your dad bought a Mercedes?"

Seeing Max's surprised expression, Harley Smith's face turned somewhat awkward, she hung her head and said: "This is my boyfriend's car."

"Boy... boyfriend?"

Max was confused: "Aren't I your boyfriend?"

Harley replied: "Max, we are in the past now. I have a new boyfriend, so please stop forget about me and do not bother me in the future!"

Upon hearing these words, Max felt as though his heart was pricked by a needle, the pain he was unbearable.

He refused to believe that these words were spoken by the woman he loved the most.

"Harley, today is Valentine's Day, not April Fool's Day!"

"This kind of joke is not to be made!" He said laughing nervously hoping that Harley would take her wors back.

Seeing that Harley did not say anything, his heart sank, nonetheless he would not give up easily!

"For the past three months, I've been working tirelessly, running orders day and night, just to give you a precious Valentine's Day present!"

Saying this, Max thrust the luxurious gift box he held into her arms, "Inside there is a necklace, I hope you would like it." he continued.

He was a delivery guy, running at least a hundred orders a day just to make money. But he did not mind, he thought that it would be all worth it if he could buy his girlfriend the Valentine's Day gift she had been longing for.

But now unexpectedly, his girlfriend wanted to break up with him! On Valentine's Day!

Harley pushed the necklace back, furrowed her brows and said, "I'm touched that you would offer me such an expensive gift, but I wasn't joking just now. I really have a new boyfriend. Please take back your gift. I don't need it!"

"I don't believe it!" Max shouted

"You haven't broken up with me yet, how could you be with someone else?"

With tears brimming in his eyes, Max choked back his sobs and placed the gift box back into her hands.

"Slam!"

Harley, her face showing impatience, threw the gift box to the ground and said in a harsh tone, "Who I am with is my business. So what if I date someone else while I am in a relationship with you? You don't have the right to interfere!"

As soon as those words were spoken, Max was shocked beyond description. His heart twisted like a knife wound. He was so hurt by his girlfriend's betrayal that he felt the pain would suffocate him.

In his entire life, he was never considered a smart man, even being treated like a fool by others.

But he was not stupid, he could still understand the meaning behind Harley's words.

It turned out that Harley had never considered him as her boyfriend. She was using him the entire time and made him her lapdog that could be discarded at any time.

"Max, if you have any dignity left, stop being such a grovelling disgrace!"

"Let me tell you, the more you try to keep me around with your pathetic pleas, the more disgusted I will be!"

Harley crossed her arms, looking down at him haughtily, as if she were looking at a dog.

Max felt the chill in his heart, and simultaneously, a surge of anger welled up in his chest, causing his eyes to become bloodshot.

He and Harley had been together since high school. It had been five long years!

Now, Harley was an outstanding student at Hillcrest City University, and he had become a delivery boy barely surviving at the bottom of society. It was like they from different worlds and incompatible but he never let that bother him because he always thought that their love would not be affected by status and money.

In fact, his academic performance in high school was actually good. He and Harley had made a plan to go to Hillcrest City University together, however, due to certain reasons, the plan failed. In the end, Harley passed the examinations and become a freshman in Hillcrest City University, while he had to step into the workforce ahead of time.

Max felt a surge of emotions overwhelm him but he clenched his teeth and asked, "Harley, all these years we were together, were they true? Did you feel anyting for me?"

Harley was taken aback. She never thought she would see Max this broken. She suddenly felt a little guilty inside. However, it was too late now so she would not stand here and wallow in regret, after a few seconds of silence, she smiled and said, "Well, I appreciate the money you used to spend on me. That counts, right?"

On hearing those words, Max clenched his fists tighter.

He really wanted to lash out, to chastise this unfaithful woman before him, but what would be the point?

Anger is a sign of powerlessness. It only leads to more anger and suffering.

Harley could see what he was thinking, and she couldn't help but sneer,

"Max, there's no need for you to stare at me like this. I've only done what any normal woman would do, after all, my current boyfriend is better than you in all ways you could ever imagine. He is far wealthier than you.

His family owns two properties in Hillcrest City, and he owns several large companies, plus he's quite handsome.

And you're just a delivery guy, with no house, no car, no background. Tell me, who should I choose: him or you?" Harley said sarcastically

Max glanced at the brand-new Mercedes, and then coldly replied, “It appears I was wrong. Our love holds no value in the face of money after all.”

Harley frowned at his words, her face darkening.

He was clearly insulting her!

He was calling her a gold-digger!

"Only useless men say that women are attracted to money!"

Harley firmly retorted.

Max gave a self-deprecating smile, shook his head and said, "Alright, since you've made your choice, I have nothing to say. I just hope you won't regret it in the future!"

With that, he kicked the gift box into the trash can.

Then, he rode away on his bicycle.

Watching Max's gradually receding figure, Harley's face was full of hatred.

"Me, regret? That would be an international joke!"

"My new boyfriend drives a Mercedes, and comes from a rich family who lives in a mansion!"

"As for you, Max Miller, all you will ever have in this life is a shared bicycle and a shabby apartment! You don't even own that apartment, you rent!"

"You want me to regret? Maybe in the next life!"

The following morning, Max had already collected his spirits.

Bearing the responsibility of supporting his family, he didn't have the time to wallow in the sadness because of a heartbreak. He had to work!

Busy until the early afternoon, Max had a quick lunch at a convenience store.

Attracted by the offer, Max spent a dollar and casually selected a mystery box.

The staff opened the box in front of him. Inside was a full well packed lunch with juice and dessert.

He was over the moon, a meal worth over ten dollars only cost him a single dollar ?! What a great deal! This must have been his lucky day!

He happily found a spot to sit down and started eating his lunch while looking at his phone.

Suddenly, a voice echoed in his mind—
