Late at night.

A faint scent of blood within the smell of gunpowder mingled in the air.

Renee's instinctively aware of danger, indelibly etched deep in her bones, even after switching to a different body.

Awaken instantly, she was certain there was a gunfight taking place at the hill behind their house. Immediately, she jumped out of the window and went to investigate.

For the safety of the citizens in M Country, regulations were imposed, prohibiting non-official personnel from owning firearms and ammunition. The majority who possessed firearms were often not the sort that one would want to tangle with.

Squinting her eyes with a flash of rage in the dead night, like a robust cheetah, Renee swiftly darted into the shadow surrounding the hill.

Following the scent of blood, she found an elderly man who had been shot in the waist.

His shirt was stained red with blood. Pressing on his wound, while biting hard on his teeth to suppress the pain.

From her hiding spot behind a huge tree, Renee noticed the elderly man was wearing an army-green coat. The unique emblem on the shoulder revealed his identity as Henry Ford, the nation's founding father.

Henry was a legendary figure. Rumor had it that in his youth, he led 500 soldiers in guerrilla warfare on the frontier, fighting 100,000 invaders. Despite the difference in number of soldiers, the victory shot him to international fame.

Renee profoundly admired such a hero.

Who had the audacity to assassinate such a prominent figure within the M Country?

While Renee was pondering, an outlander holding a silenced pistol emerged from the dense forest showing a sinister grin on his bearded face.

Facing Henry, without hesitation, he loaded a bullet into the pistol.

Renee heard him muttering "Apologies. Who pays the piper calls the tune."

Panting heavily, Henry knew he had no way to escape. Feeling despair as he looked at the black hole from the pistol.

Sadly, after surviving the blazes of war and yet he would die in the hands of a nobody.

This was unacceptable!

"Wait!" A girl spoke abruptly.

Both men started. They turned and saw a young girl around eighteen standing a distance away.

She was wearing a light-pink Hello Kitty pajama, with her hair in a bun. Her skin was as white as snow, revealing an outstanding charisma. What a beautiful.

Most girls would be scared to witness such a situation.

But, she was incredibly calm, her eyes undisturbed as if she was used to such life-and-death scenarios.

Making a step forward, Henry desperately clung onto the Outlander's leg, shouting, "Run!"

Facing such a killer, anybody who saw the Outlander's face wouldn't live to tell the tale.

Protecting the citizens of M Country was his lifelong mission and duty. This girl was likely a villager staying nearby, who chanced upon them and was clueless about the brutality of these killers.

The outlander swore and in a second, aimed his pistol at the girl.

Being a seasoned killer, he wouldn't mind adding another innocent death to his record.

Especially nobody should know about this assassination mission.

Perhaps due to the daunting rage on the man's face, Renee squatted slightly to stretch her muscles.

The burly man sneered, thinking that she must be so frightened that she couldn't even stand properly.

Just as he was planning to deal with Renee once and for all, she suddenly charged at him at an incredible speed, and her foot landed right on his stomach.

In one swift leap, she grabbed his pistol, pointed it at his forehead, and pulled the trigger without any hesitation.

"Bang!"

The burly man didn't have the time to cry out in pain and stiffly fell onto the ground.

Holding the pistol in one hand, the breeze brushed across Renee's cheek, lifting her hair. The bloodthirsty look on her face was like the Grim Reaper descending upon the earth.

"You, you, you..." Henry was so stunned that he stuttered. He couldn't believe that this young girl, dressed in a cartoon pajama, managed to kill a professional killer with her empty hand.

Rubbing his eyes, he looked again at the Outlander lying in the pool of blood. He was very sure, he wasn't dreaming.

"Who are you?" He asked cautiously.

"Your savior," Renee spoke without changing expression.

She was not someone who would step forward to help others. The reason why she saved Henry today was purely out of respect for heroes.

Renee tore a piece of fabric from the Outlander's shirt and pressed it against the wound on Henry's waist to stop the bleeding.

Henry let out a suppressed groan, his forehead was covered with cold sweat and his face deathly pale. Despite the pain, he resisted crying out in pain.

Quick and efficiently, Renee removed the bullet from his wound, bit open its cap, and evenly sprinkled the gunpowder onto his wound to stop the bleeding.

Henry eyed her like a hawk and, in his low and rough voice asked, "Such method of emergency hemostasis and disinfection is used only on the battlefield. How do you know? And why are you here?"

Her techniques were too skillful to be an innocent eighteen-year-old girl.

Especially when she shot the assassinator right in the brow, such accurate marksmanship astonished everyone. Without more than ten years of rigorous practice, this wouldn't be possible.

There's definitely more to her identity.

After much consideration, Renee finally revealed her name: "I'm Renee Lawson."

For someone with Henry's status, even if she didn't tell him anything, he would thoroughly investigate her background later.

Soon, footsteps were approaching from a distance.

Renee guessed that it must probably be Henry's people arriving. Without hesitation, she turned and left, heading home.

Henry looked at her complexly and called out to her, "Young girl, don't go. You've saved my life. Is there anything you want? I'll try my best to fulfill you."

She saved a national hero, yet she didn't ask for anything in return and just left?

Or did she... disdain to ask for anything?
