Lightning flashed, thunder rumbled, and heavy rain poured.

"Madam Schmidt, please, I'm begging you. Let me see Joshua."

Mia Dunn hammered against the car window stubbornly and shouted, "Please, I beg of you. Joshua and I are truly in love. I don't believe that Joshua would just leave without saying goodbye."

After a long while, during which the rain completely soaked Mia's body, the car window rolled down.

Frowning, a woman looked at Mia and said, "Joshua has gone to Jandoria. Don't pester him anymore."

"How is this possible?"

Mia looked at the woman before her in disbelief. Her eyebrows came together as she said, "Why... Joshua won't leave me alone and go to Jandoria."

However, even after waiting for a long time, Mia did not get an answer from Corinne Schmidt. She forced herself to calm down and tried to squeeze out a smile.

"Then... Madam Schmidt, please tell me Joshua's in Jandoria. I want to look for him."

She was going to find him. She had something important to tell him!

"Joshua doesn't want to see you, that's why he left on his own. Give up."

With that, the woman rolled up the window and ordered the driver to go.

Looking at the car slowly accelerating away, Mia was still unable to digest these words.

What had gone wrong in her relationship with Joshua? Why had he gone abroad without telling her?

They had made a deal.

They had been dating for four years, and last month, she had given herself to him completely. They had agreed to go abroad together, to try their best to persuade his mother to accept her and go against the Schmidt family's rules.

How could it be that...

Mia thought for a while, wiped the raindrops from her face, and began to run with all her power to stop the starting car.

Because she was too anxious, the car stopped again.

The woman in the car rolled down the window again and stared at Mia coldly, her tone impatient. "Leave. Stop bothering our Joshua."

"Madam Schmidt, I know that you have been opposed to Joshua and I being together. I beg you..."

Mia bit her lip, her eyes were full of tears. After hesitating for a while, she said sincerely to the woman, "Please. For the sake of Joshua's baby, let me see him."

"Baby?"

The woman snorted. "Joshua never even touched you. How can you be pregnant with our Joshua's child?"

"It was... it was on the night of your birthday, when you invited me to Antique Hotel."

Although it was difficult to say out loud, Mia gritted her teeth and said it.

That night had been Corinne's birthday. Joshua had been delayed at school, so she had gone over to the hotel first.

Before this, Corinne had always ignored her. However, this time Corinne had been particularly kind to her, so she had drunk too much at Corinne's urging.

After that, Corinne had arranged a hotel room for her. That night, Joshua had come into her room.

They had slept together.

She had thought that this was the turning point for her relationship with Joshua, and Corinne would also slowly start to accept her.

But she never expected that...

After that, Corinne had first cancelled Mia's scientific research project at school and then separated Joshua from her.

"That night, ah. That night, you were drunk and who knows whose illegitimate child you conceived. Joshua was in the laboratory that day and was never at Antique Hotel. If you don't believe me, you can go and check the surveillance."

"What?"

Mia was completely stunned when she heard that. But when she tried to ask more questions, Corinne's car had already left.

She collapsed to the ground, and the heavy rain washed away the tears on her face.

The next day, when Mia woke up in the Tranquility Hospital, she received news from the school that Mia's previous experiment showed that some data had been falsified. Though her research had not followed regulations, her new medication had still been put on the market. As a result, she had been expelled because of the media uproar.

When Mia rushed to the school to discuss the matter, she remembered that the data had been passed on through Corinne.

She had no evidence at all.

With this sort of thing happening, she would never again be able to research new medicine in the future.

She could no longer remain in this industry.

It was over. Everything had been destroyed.

Mia staggered to the street where a car suddenly sped up.

"There's been an accident!"

Mia heard someone shout this, but she could only feel pain all over her body...
