It's getting late! I thought, cleaning my hands on my apron. I have to get home in under 10 minutes. If not, I'm in big trouble.

"Sam! I'm leaving!" I yelled to my co bartender.

"Okay! See you tomorrow!" He yelled back. I ran to my locker and removed my apron while carrying my bag. I have to get home fast if not father is going to punish me. I work in a bar a little far from home, there are no taxis around here by this time. I ran out of the bar with the sky rumbling and thunder clapping. The sky is about to cry the way I will if I don't get home fast. I ran looking at my wrist watch. It was 10:58! Oh my God, just two more minutes.

Heavy rain started falling with a massive breeze, nobody was in the streets, just me. I ran faster, I got to our mansion and I saw my step mother and sisters waiting for me at the front door. I knew that no matter what I did I was still going to be in big trouble but I still run so I won't be in another trouble. As I entered the house I was welcomed with a slap that sent me to the floor.

"Mm…mother" I said, from the floor.

"Don't you dare mother me!, what did I say about keeping to the time!" She yelled, she came closer and dragged me by my hair and slammed me on the hard floor. I lost my vision for like 2 seconds.

"Mm..mother please" I said, I knew she would never listen. Hot tears fell from my face.

"Jared! Come and see your useless daughter!" My step mother yelled. Father entered the room and looked at us.

"What happened?" He asked.

"Well your useless daughter came in late, she never listens to anyone!" She snapped. Father looked at me.

"Why don't you listen Bridget?" my father asked.

"Fa..father I'm sorry it won't happen again" I said, trying to stand up. But Samantha pushed me down. Father came closer and slapped me. Then he kicked me in my ribs. I bit my lips in pain.

"Honey, leave her, we won't want her getting injured" step mother said. Dragging father away.

"You useless girl, don't worry by tomorrow you will be out of our hands" he said, kicking me in the rib again. I whimper. What does he mean by tomorrow?

"Fa…..father wh…what do y..you mean?" I said, trying to sit up. They all laugh.

"You are going to be replacing your sister Yolanda in marrying Devlin Higgins" step mother said. I looked at them shocked, the Higgins family wanted the eldest daughter of the Murray family, nobody even knows about me. I am the illegitimate daughter, people only know Yolanda and Samantha so what are they saying?

"B..but I am the youngest daughter" I said.

"Well nobody cares about that, you are going to take her position. I want you to go up right now and have enough sleep by tomorrow you will be getting married to Devlin your bags are already packed" father said. I looked at all of them shocked, I am just 18 years old and they want me to get married to a psychopath.

"Please don't do this" I begged, tears running down my face. Step mother slapped me harshly.

"Why are you begging! Is it my beautiful daughters that you want them to get married to that psychopath! You selfish and ungrateful bastard!" She yelled, kicking me. Father came up and held her.

"Honey, remember she is getting married to Devlin, let's not touch her again" he said. They all left me there. I cried thinking about who I offended, what did I do to deserve all this? The Murray family is a rich family but father got into a debt with the Higgins family and only this marriage can pay the debt. I shiver thinking about Devlin Higgins.
