Daily Healthcare Clinics.

“Take it easy now, now push,” the tired and exhausted doctor said.

“Haaa!” Rosaline groaned in labor pains. She had never them experienced them before. This might be her first and last time of feeling it.

Rain was falling heavily, thunder was striking, lighting was flashing and this made the room very cold.

“I-I cannot breathe.” Rosaline panted.

“Deep breaths, just push and you’ll be able to breathe.”

“Ahhh!”

She pushed with all her might. She had been in the labor room for hours but it felt like years. After a heard and breathless effort, the baby was out, stained with blood and crying hardly.

“Date of birth, April 30th, 4:30.”

Rosaline rested as the midwives cleaned her and her baby up. Meanwhile, Jason had been pacing round the hallways of the waiting room in the hospital, waiting for the latest feed on his wife.

When he saw the doctor he crossed his fingers and prayed for good news. He had heard many tales about husbands who lost their wives in the labor room, or the baby, even worse…both, this only made his heart grip in anxiousness.

“Congratulations, Mr Silas.”

“Thank God,” he said full of praise.

“It’s a girl.”

“And my wife?”

“Mrs Silas is fine.”

“Can I go and see them now?”

“Not now, in the next 30 minutes, the midwives are still cleaning them up.”

He was so happy inside of himself. He just wished they even had relatives to celebrate the good news with. The doctor came back with a nurse after thirty minutes.

“Mr Silas, you can see her now.”

He guided him to the ward where his wife was resting. He saw his beautiful wife and and new born child. He carried her and raised her up to the air.

“Isn’t she beautiful?”

“Yes, she is.”

“But we have a problem, with what’s going on now, how do we escape our debtors especially with a child?”

“I have an idea but not here not now.”

Canada. Toronto. 12:48. April 30th.

Caleb entered the large company. It was one of the biggest newspaper producing companies in the whole of Toronto.

The Daily Guiders.

The environment was friendly and silent. The company was painted white and surrounded by tulips. Caleb entered and was immediately received by the receptionist.

“Good afternoon,” he politely greeted her.

“Yes good afternoon, who are here for?” the pretty receptionist asked.

“The GM of this company, James Harry.”

“Is he expecting you?”

“Yes.”

“Okay, let me inform him you’re here, name please?”

“Tell him Caleb, he’ll know whom you’re talking about.”

The receptionist contacted Mr Harry through the telecom. “There’s a man called Caleb that says he wants to see you.”

“Yes, yes please send him to my office right away.”

She cut the call and faced him.

“His office is upstairs, the last one to the right. There is a tag on his door so you can’t miss him.”

“Thanks.”

He followed her directions and got to his office soon enough. The office was cool and uniquely decorated. The desk was full of files, books and piled up documents. He looked busy ‘cause he was cutting a call when he entered.

“Caleb, please take a seat.”

He took a seat opposite him as they shook hands.

“So, how’s everything?”

“Everything’s fine, sir.”

“Good, now let’s get straight to business. Here you said you have a juicy story and I have also confirmed that it’s juicy and this can make us rich.”

Caleb’s heart beat faster and happily.

“But there’s a minor problem. According to your source it has not yet been regarded as a fact, we need more research,” Mr Harry said looking closely at the slightly disappointed Caleb.

“But I did a lot of research.”

“You need to get it from the source. We can’t publish uncertain news. The public will take it as fake.”

“What can I do about that?”

“I have an idea. I want you to research about Otto in Preston.”

“Isn’t that in England?”

“Yes and once you’re able to do that and get proper and reliable information with proof on him, you can put out your story and boom, and you’re rich.”

“Thank you so much, sir.”

“I’ll finance your flight and accommodation in Preston.”

“I’m so grateful.”

“I too, glad doing business with you. Everything you need will be delivered to you. Tomorrow you’ll be on a flight to Preston.”

“Thank you, sir.”

“You’re welcome. I’m having a meeting in the next ten minutes.”

“Okay sir, I’ll see you in the next six weeks.”

He walked out of the door and went home. Just as Mr Harry has said, everything he needed was delivered.

He even took the pain to transfer money to him. He had where he would stay once he got there. He was happy that he entered the journalism business, if not, he wouldn’t be this lucky. He wished his parents and siblings were alive to see his success. He got on his flight the next day and left for the outskirts of England where Preston was located.

He reached Preston and began to work on his new story.

Five months later…

Mystic forest. Preston. 19:34. September 30th.

“Shh don’t cry, it’s okay,” she said running and breathing heavily.

The baby in her hands cried even more. The man behind them had a knife. He was fast in pursuit. Rosaline turned and saw a large bush so she stayed and hid there silently. Mathew didn’t hear any running footsteps anymore and knew she had stopped.

“Come out! You can’t hide forever.” Mathew breathed heavily.

It was true, she couldn’t hide forever. She tucked her baby in the bush. She had no other choice. She was scared and shaky. She wished everything was all just a bad dream but it was reality, pure reality. This reminded her of a horror movie she had watched at the cinema.

The mystic forest was as dark as usual, she used to come here as a child but she had never been terrified of it as she was now. The mystic forest was always dark even in the bright daylight which confused most people.

Scientists said it was because the tightly closed tall trees blocked sunlight but people knew there was more to it, much more. Everywhere was dark. She said some prayers. She decided to run out so as to get Mathew as far away from her baby as possible. She knew the end was near for her and had accepted it a long time ago.

The dry leaves didn’t pity her. The murderer followed the sound of them.

Rosaline ran with all her might for five minutes but fell down as she twisted her leg while running. Rosaline was in pain, she couldn’t see well anymore. Her vision was blurry and this gave Mathew the opportunity to stab her.
