Nobody told me that life could be this annoying but I guessed that I knew myself because I just sort of took it in my stride. Foolish life and its foolish rules. All the things I wanted were so far away.

I stood outside the house waiting for Mae, she was my friend ever since the first day that we got into werewolf school and we had been friends since then and now we were getting to eighteen.

"Sara, wait up," Mae called from inside where I knew that she was even now getting an extra treat from my mom. Honestly, that woman liked to spoil Mae and I didn't know why. Yes we were friends but I didn't ever get an extra sandwich. Not for any reason, but Mae could get extra sandwiches if she wanted. Of course she could.

"I haven't moved an inch from the porch Mae and you better hurry up because I'm not going late to class just because you want to get an extra treat. Mom I know what you're doing," I called back, laughing as I listened and I only heard complete silence. I had caught them in the act completely.

"Insufferably know it all," mom called back. "Go on, go on. I can't wait for you to give me all the good news about the latest rounds of mating," mom giggled with Mae.

"Mom!!!" I called, that was gross. She liked to be too inclusive in our lives and it was good sometimes but then sometimes it was too much.

Just let some things alone. I didn't want to be mated with my mom looking over at my shoulder at the boy. I didn't want that. She'd try to make sure he was perfect and I didn't want a perfect boy. I wanted Jason. The hottest male werewolf in all of the werewolf school or at least the hottest in my opinion.

Mae finally came out. I rolled my eyes at her and looked pointedly at her bag

"What, I didn't do anything. I didn't, I swear. Come on, let's go. We are almost late," she tsked.

"And whose fault is that?" I laughed back. Mae just had that way that she could keep out the anger from you even if she did something that you were supposed to be angry at and angry about.

We began walking towards the school with fast and quick steps to make sure we were early.

"Did you know that Jason is going to get mated today?" Mae asked me out of the blue, I turned to her sharply. What did she mean? Jason? Get mated? That was today? Really? I felt myself freaking out.

"No, that can't be true," I said back to her. "Jason get mated today? That's not true," I cried.

She laughed. "Of course it's true, silly, are you serious? Would I lie?"

I felt my heart give a little bounce. My head began to cloud and tears threatened to form in my eyes. I have always been hopelessly in love with Jason.

I love his lock of dark midnight hair. His eyes like stars of brown luminescence that bored into your head until they were the only things you could see. His cheekbones high and majestic like some long ago emperor. Whenever he looked at me I could feel my body come alive but he didn't care.

"Come on, you're not still hooked on Jason are you?" Mae asked me.

I looked back at her sadly, there was no way to hide it. There was nothing to say and she knew it. She saw the sad look in my eyes and she came closer and put her hand on my shoulder to comfort me.

"He doesn't know what he's missing, he's an idiot," Mae consoled me. I knew she was being a friend but Xena, Jason's girlfriend, was so hot. I wouldn't look at me too when she was around.

We got to school and we got there early. Mae smiled and winked at me.

"See, all you need is me, I'll always make sure that you are on time and reach all your goals," she blew me a kiss.

Throughout the classes the only thing I could think about was Jason and what if I could be mated to him. I wanted it to be true so bad but there was Xena and she wouldn't like it. She was too popular for me to stand against. I thought the same thoughts until it was time for a break in our classes.

"Did you guys know that Jason is getting mated today?" Someone said in front of me as I stood by the front of my class, thinking that I should wait for Mae.

"All the girls are trying to look him in the eye to see if they are the ones but he only has eyes for Xena. He's probably going to be mated to her," another person replied. I stood behind them, feeling my heart beating in my chest. The girls were trying to look Jason in the eyes and get mated to him? Really?

"Where is he?" A girl in front of me asked, I knew her from three class years ago, she liked to keep her hair long and pink. The boys talking in front of me looked at her like she was crazy but one pointed her towards the corridor.

I stood there looking at her go then decided to walk in that direction myself. I wasn't hoping for anything and I didn't know why I was going but I wanted to see.

"He's never going to mate anyone except Xena. It's already set in stone. He's only got eyes for her," one of the boys said as I walked over to the corridor that Jason was. I put it out of my mind. I wouldn't think about what they were saying.

I turned the corridor at a quick trot and came face to face with Jason and Xena, his girlfriend.

Jason stood facing away from the corridor and facing Xena.

She was a platinum blonde with doe eyes and push pink lips that pouted into a kiss. She had long golden tanned legs. He stood holding her, one hand around her waist and another on running up her thighs.

As I watched the hand go past her thighs and under her skirt and she gasped and moaned, her lips coming forward as they kissed, his wavy midnight black hair to one side and his hands firmly in control of her body as his lips filled hers and his hands drew her to him. The other in her skirt grabbing her ass and massaging.

I stood looking at them, unable to breathe. I could feel the red coming on my face.

Jason turned and I felt a warmness pass through me and my eyes glowed golden along with his. We were mated. I couldn't believe it.

The feeling took over me, my fangs showing through and my body getting the sense of where he was. We became mates at that moment. I felt him in my head, the full presence of him.

Jason turned away, and his lips closed in on Xena's again. He didn't even care. He pushed her against the wall as he kissed her and I felt hot tears on my face. I ran away without saying anything.
