I woke up this morning after hearing my mom call my name....

"Vicks,Vicks,get up or you're gonna be late for school!"she said, preparing my younger sister,Jane for school.

I turned abruptly on the bed...

"Oh,mom. I don't wanna go to school"

School was interesting and cool but not that cool. Well introducing myself,my name is Victoria but most people call me Vicks. I'm 16 with black hair and all and I'm pretty.

There were some things in school that made my life so miserably awkward. Like Tera and her friends,Nikky and Jazzy,who called themselves "The pretty cats".

One reason why I still had the courage to go to school was because of this guy I had a crush on,since sophomore year in high school. His name is Alex,tall with brown hair, handsome,smart, brilliant,just my ideal type of guy.

But I dare not go near him.

Why?

Because he was not single,he is dating someone,and the girl he is dating was my archenemy,who hated my guts,Tera. So,I tried my best to avoid trouble by staying away from Alex,so Tera wouldn't blow up.

But,today,I have made up my mind to talk to Alex...

Sounds crazy right?!

But I really want to act crazy.

I head down to the dining table to have breakfast,but I met my ten years old sister,Jane on the way.

"Where are you going,Cinderella?" I asked

"I am going to wake Sleeping Beauty up with a kiss and tell her that breakfast is ready"she said blinking one eye. Jane is really a sharp mouth, sometimes when she talks,I feel like hitting her.

She's annoying but she is still my little sis.

"I thought you said you weren't going to school today?"my mom asked when we got to the table.

"It looks like she dreamt of her Prince charming" Jane said, smirking at me.

"Jane, could you just shush" I said,giving her a stern look.

"That's alright okay, don't fight"my mom said,purposely directing it to Jane. As we ate in silence,I stared at my mom. Ever since my Dad died,she had never wanted any trouble.

After breakfast,I went to my room to look at myself in the mirror,then I said to myself....

"Let's go talk to Alex"

Then I took my bag and left,feeling very happy at myself..

I got to school after dropping Jane in her school. I got to my locker,opened it and looked at my timetable. I had Chemistry, Geography and Maths today,then an idea struck me.

Maybe I could sit beside Alex in Maths class. That's right. That's what I'll do.

I mustn't act weird, because if I do, I'll screw up everything.

When I closed the locker,I saw my best friend, Jasmine.

"Sup Vicks!"she screamed

"Hey chill. You sound more like Tera"I said, giving her a stern look.

"You mean The pretty cats?"she asked, smirking

"More like ugly"I said and we laughed

"Jas,I'm ....uhm....kind of thinking I should talk to Alex today"I said

"That explains why you look so pretty today"she said

"Oh,thank you"I said softly

"Well,that's no big deal. Just hope Tera won't catch you,oh you'll be so sunk"she said, sounding like Tera which was so funny.

"Don't be ridiculous,I'll be careful. I just want you to give me some tips, like advice"I said, sounding serious

"Okay. My advice for you is for you to just be that pretty self of yours. That's the best you can do"she said

I think she's right

"Okay. I'll try"I said smiling.

"Right. So I'll see you in Maths class"she said

"Okay,bye"I said

"Bye"

I think I'll follow her advice.

Just be you....

I kept repeating and repeating it,I didn't even know when I bumped into someone,with my books scattering all over the floor. The person I bumped into bent down picking my books and I bent down to pick up some.

But when I looked up at the person I bumped into,I couldn't believe it.....

I didn't plan it this way.....

Alex.....

"Hey,I'm very sorry" Alex said after picking up the books

"Nevermind. It was my fault,I wasn't looking"i said staring at him. I didn't know he was this handsome,I mean I had seen him before but never this close.

"No,it was mine,I was thinking about something and....."he said and looked at me

"and I wasn't looking"

"Thinking about what if I may ask?cos you look really disturbed"I said,noticing the disturbance in him.

"Can we have lunch after school?cos I think I need someone to talk to"he said

"Yeah,sure"I said, surprised

"Okay. The treat's on me,so see you after school?"

"Yeah,see ya"I said then he left

I felt so happy

Alex asked me out ....

Tera is so out of the line .....

I can't wait for school to close ....

After chemistry and geography class,we had maths. But instead of sitting beside Alex,I sat down beside Jasmine cos I couldn't wait to tell her.

"Hey Jas"I said, sitting beside her when I got to maths class.

"Hey,girl. You're supposed to sit beside Alex. What are you doing here?" She asked, giving me a stern look.

" Cos there has been a change in plans"I said softly.

"Why?"she also said softly. We did this sometimes,we called it The whisper game, whoever spoke louder loses.

"Well,we bumped into each other,he apologized and I noticed he was disturbed,I asked him about it,and we agreed to meet for lunch after school"I said softly too.

"Like seriously!" Jas said loudly, losing the whisper game.

"Jas, you lose, and you know the loser gets.."

"A peck"we said together and we laughed

"Hey,Vicks"Alex said,seeing me after school.

"Hey"

"You're ready?"he asked

"Yep"I said as we walked out of school

"Where did you choose?"

"Oh,just a Cafe few blocks from here"

"Okay"I said back

We walked silently for some minutes..

"We're here"Alex said breaking the silence,when we got to the Cafe. We sat down,then Alex asked

"What do you want?"

I was shocked..

Why would Alex ask me what I want from him?

I'm not that kind of person..

I was getting angry

"I mean what can they offer you?"Alex said

I bet he noticed my mood change

"Oh"I said, feeling relaxed.

"I could just have a cold juice"I said again

"Nothing to eat?"he asked

"Okay,I'll have what you'll have"I said, trying to impress him

"Alright. Hey,waiter"he called out to a waiter standing almost beside us

"Get us two cold orange juices with two sandwiches"he said

"All right"said the waiter

"Thanks"he said

I was thinking about what he wanted to tell me,maybe I should ask him.

"Uhmm Alex"

"Hmmm" he said

"You wanted to talk about something?"

"Oh yes. I don't know if I should be telling you this but since you are my friend now maybe I should"he said

Friends?

Are we actually friends?

This is so great

"Hey, you can trust me okay?"I said giving him the "I won't tell anyone what you'll tell me" look

"Okay. It's about Tera"he said

That witch?

"I don't know how but,I don't love her anymore"

"Then,just tell her and break up with her"I said immediately

He looked at me and I cooled down

"It's not easy. We've been dating for over five years now and she seems to know everything about me and I know her too, she'll be hurt if I tell her"he said sadly

"What are you going to do then?"

"I don't know"he said drinking his juice while I drank mine. After eating,we left,he saw me off home and left after thanking him and saying"goodnight"

He really cares a lot about Tera.

But she doesn't deserve him.....
