The night was still young. Couples wandering the square park hand in hand, leaves rustling, wind blowing, coins being tossed in the fountain, couples making a wish. It was quite a scene to look at.

Amber had been standing still for a long 10 minutes, while the pop music lingered in her ears. Had it not been for the couples running around and bumping into her, she would've stood like that for another good 10 minutes.

She was startled, at first and as she noticed the couple apologising, and then walking off giggling, her heart felt warm. She smiled, her eyes tearing up unconsciously.

As her vision got blurry because of the tears in her eyes, she wiped her face and continued thinking.

It was a nightmare for her to be around couples. Her heart ached at the view of that. Looking at them always made her question if she didn't deserve to be loved. What wrong did she ever do to not deserve someone who'd only be hers and love her like she's dreamt of?

And just like always, she had no energy to argue with her own mind. She shook her head, took a deep breath and continued walking steadily.

She found the park phenomenal at night. She'd come over every once in a while to take in the beautiful view and have some peace of mind yet, she would always end up feeling lonely.

As she went on walking, she spotted an oddly shaped tree. Never had she been so intrigued by a tree before. She, without any second thought, moved her feet to that direction. "Do not go there," A voice entered her ears.

She turned around to find a tall figure, leaning across the fence. She wanted to ignore the man and continue her way but stood there still as if her feet had frozen right there.

"I'm sorry," He looked apologetically, throwing some hand gestures in a haste.

Amber couldn't help but chuckle. On seeing her reaction, he returned her smile and starting walking to her. She looked at him, perplexed.

"What did you mean by 'Do not go there'?" Amber asked immediately.

He widened his eyes, imitating a dark and scary expression, pointing at the same tree, "I saw a ghost there. "

"Really, mister?" Amber rolled her eyes, "You need to find another prey. You're not freaking me with all the ghost crap."

"Uh-huh, I see," He looked in the sky, as if thinking something and spoke, "What could it be then? I bet it was a ghost. Do you want to discuss it over coffee?"

With that being said, she burst out laughing.

*he was smooth, so smooth*

She kept laughing until she realised that he had been looking at her so carefully. She got conscious by his stare and shook her head. And for the first time, she actually noticed him carefully. He looked quite decent for a jerk. He had beautiful curly hair. The colourful lights fell on his face, highlighting his handsome facial features, making him look magnificent. He wore a black shirt which hugged his torso just perfectly. She had never seen a man as handsome before. She could go on and on about how perfect he looked but, she was not the girl who cared about looks.

'I bet he's a dumbass,' she thought and decided to leave before he pulled another prank on her. Before she could walk off, he spoke again, "What? I'm so not asking you out right now. I just wanted to discuss about -"

"About Ghosts," He was cut by Amber, "I get it. I'll rather sit at home and watch Netflix alone."

She waited for his reply but on seeing him a bit lost, she stepped forward and flashed a smirk at him. Her eyes spoke louder than her mouth. He could tell that she wanted to stay and keep talking with him all night. Yet, he moved aside to clear her way but seemed to have realised something.

He shifted instantaneously in front of her making her stumble on her feet. He pulled her by the waist back on her feet.

Amber hesitated for a while and thanked him very politely. He, who had been charmed by her already, curled his lips into a heartfelt smile.

"So, can I know your name now?" He bit his lip, scratching the back of his head.

"Amber Brown."

"... "

"Your name...?! " She raised her brow.

"Keith. Keith Miller."
