I watched him walk to the front of the classroom, confidently answering the teacher’s question. His easy confidence made my heart skip a beat. Isn’t he amazing? I wondered if he’d ever notice me. My thoughts drifted, ignoring the lesson entirely.
“Ms. Williams?” the math teacher’s voice snapped me back. “Yes, sir,” I said, a little too loudly. He reminded me to focus, and I nodded, but my mind stayed tangled in thoughts of Ethan.
When the bell rang, I grabbed my bag and headed to the cafeteria, already spotting Rose at our usual table. She had been my best friend since the first day of school, and her presence always grounded me.
“Isn’t he cute?” I whispered, eyes glued to Ethan across the cafeteria.
Rose rolled her eyes and tossed a fry at me. “Seriously, Lily? Again with Ethan?”
“Obviously, Rose. He’s smart, funny… and yeah, okay, good-looking too. What more could I want?” I replied, brushing off her teasing.
Suddenly, the cafeteria buzzed with new energy. The source? Leo, the school’s notorious “bad boy.” Girls whispered and stared, including Rose. I couldn’t understand it. Sure, he was attractive, with grey eyes and built body. Well, I wasn't falling for that,Ethan is the one I want.
Later, during class, the teacher instructed us to pair up. My heart sank when I saw Leo sitting beside me, completely absorbed in his phone. The teacher noticed and sent him to detention. He wasn't even sad that he was sent out of the class. He's eyes were still glued at his phone as he left the classroom.I paired up with another person and we did the practical.
After school, I walked home, picked up the keys from our neighbour's house, and went home.
Mom wasn’t home; she’d been working long hours since Dad passed. The smell of pasta greeted me, warm and familiar. I ate quickly and settled down to study, my thoughts still drifting to Ethan.
As I flipped through my notes, my phone buzzed. A notification from the school chat: an upcoming class party. Normally, I avoided parties, but then I saw Ethan’s name. He’s going. My heart raced. I texted Lily for tips because she was the resident party expert, after all.
The next morning,I woke up to a soft kiss on my forehead. “Get ready for school, honey,” she said. It was mum, she was back from her night shift.
I hugged her tightly before dressing in a casual top and jeans. The school buzzed with excitement about the party. Focus, Lily… but also, Ethan.
After class, Rose and I met at the cafeteria. “Can’t wait for tomorrow’s party!” she exclaimed, practically bouncing. I smiled, mostly focused on Ethan.
“Why don't we wear matching outfits for tomorrow's party lily?” she said, waiting for my reaction. I already have an outfit to wear rose. I said to rose, I could see a little frown on her face but I really wanted to wear that dress. Suddenly the little frown on her face turned to a booming smile.
“Well, I have something to tell you,I feel it's unfair to keep it from you” Rose said, biting her lower lips and acting all shy. “We're dating now, Xander and I”.She finally bursted after the silence.
What!!!! I shouted,I knew I shouted but I was surprised. “Don't get me wrong, Xander is a good boy but I never knew you guys would fall in love”. I muttered out to her. “Well,you see we started talking online about a month ago and I liked him and he likes me too, he confessed to me yesterday and he asked me out” rose said to me,I could see her face blushed pink. I was happy for her. she has her first boyfriend now, well I'm still crushing on ethan from afar.
Soon it was the day of the party,Mom reminded us firmly: “Be home before midnight, no drinking or smoking.” We nodded, promising to follow the rules.
Strobe lights flickered across the crowd, bass thumping through my chest, as Rose and I stepped into the chaotic energy of the party. Rose was thrilled, but I only cared about Ethan noticing my dress; a lemon-green gown that hugged my curves in all the right places. Mom always said I was shapely, and I’d never argued. It was naughty party indeed,Few were kissing while others were making out. I was so disgusted when I saw them, I haven't even had my first kiss yet.
Students were gathered around playing truth or dare. I hated the game, but seeing Ethan there made me reluctantly join. The dares escalated quickly; lap dances, kisses but I tried to focus on him.
Then it happened: Ethan picked dare. “Kiss Agatha,” someone demanded. My stomach sank. No, he’s too innocent for that…
Ethan’s calm voice softened my panic. “I can’t, Daniel.” My heart raced. I caught him sneaking glances at me, and a strange warmth spread through my chest. Something told me he cared.
“But the rules…” Leo interrupted, smirking. “You’re dating Agatha for a month!”
“What?!” I thought, my hands tightening into fists.
Ethan protested, his voice gentle. “I’m not ready for that”
“You can't skip the dare Mr intelligent” Leo said, while running his hands through his hair.My heart felt heavy, a storm of jealousy and confusion swirling inside me. Well I love the fact Leo called him intelligent. At least he knows he's not a dumb*ss like him.
As the game continued, I reluctantly played even if I wasn't happy with the fact that ethan would have to date that stup*d Agatha for a month just because of a stup*d dare. Agatha, ofcourse was happy,I stole few glances at her and I saw her blushing at Ethan. “How shameless” I thought to myself.
“You're next lily, truth or dare” david said. I don't know why but my mind hesitated for a bit, do you think if I pick dare, I'd be dared to kiss Ethan?. That would be the happiest thing ever.
Well I picked truth because I can't predict those boys; Especially that Daniel. “Truth” I replied while lifting my mouth up. “Who's your crush?” He asked. “Nobody” I said nervously but I knew I lied. My crush is sitting right opposite me and I couldn't even do anything.
Then it was Leo’s turn. “Truth or dare” Daniel asked.
Ofcourse I knew he'd pick dare and my guess what right. “Kiss lily” I heard him say. What!! I said,a bit loudly. “You can't tell people to kiss people whenever you want” I said to Daniel a bit harshly while trying to see Ethan's reaction. Daniel giggled, I'm sure he was enjoying it.
“I didn't force you to join the game,you came for it,now play” He's said while laughing with his other guys. Ethan definitely had a bitter expression. My guess was right.
This cute guy likes me, my heart fluttered choosing to ignore Daniel and his toxic friends and I was feeling goosebumps already but everything ended the next Munite.I felt a soft lips pressed onto mine and my eyes widened.
Did Leo just...kiss me!!?
