"How?" I responded with a soft tone

"You should know, wearing that red dress to get my attention "

I begin to blush "I didn't wear it to get your attention" He places a finger on my lips

"Shss...no talking" He leans forward to kiss me, I stop him

"No, you know we can't do this, our parents want us to be apart"  He sweeps me off my feet

"I'm willing to give up everything for you Victoria, I love you so much" I look deeply in his beautiful eyes

"Then kiss me" I close my eyes and pout my lips

"I'll like to order, please "

"Wait, what?" A lady's voice brought me back to reality

"Hello?" The lady waves her hand to my face "Miss are you okay?"  

I clear my throat

"Yes, of course, What would you like?"

I guess am back to my sad reality, I work in one of the best bakeries in the kingdom, The kingdom of Theïkós, it's Greek for divine. This place is always getting a lot of costumers, my favorite are the brownies, chocolate chip cookies and of course their chocolate cake, You can say I love all things chocolate.

They taste like heaven.

I'm lucky I get to work here, it happens to be owned by my best friends dad, they've always been taking care of me and my mum, My mum has been sick for a couple of months so she can't do babysitting like she usually does to earn little money, so I have to work to provide for us now, it's been me and my mum against the world, I never knew who my father was, and my mum never told me either, Anytime I asked she just changed the subject.

"Victoria I need your help" My best friend Anna walks in holding two dresses

I sigh "Not now, am busy"

She starts stomping her feet like a little kid "Come on...please" she begs.

" Daniel finally asked me out, and I need your help, should I go for the red dress or blue one?" she ask raising both

"Aww...you've been crushing on Daniel since he walked in here to order brownies to go yesterday," I said sarcastically

"Well duh..and it just took me 5mins to get his number" she said all sassy

"Don't you think its too soon, you don't even know him"

"Well that's why its called a date"

I just roll my eyes "Okay the blue one"

"Aww thanks babe, I would be so hot on the red dress" she squeal,

"But I said the blue one"

"I know" I just roll my eyes as she walks away

I pick up a magazine

Anna walks in again "What are you doing tori?" She leans on the counter.

I lift the magazine  "Just looking at royals"

"Omg are there new pictures of Prince Mason?" she immediately grabs the magazine from my hands 

Anna has always had a huge crush on Prince Mason, she stalks him on all his social media accounts.

"Aww he looks so cute here, omg did you see what he posted on IG this morning? "

I just laugh "What?"

"He had one of dad's pancakes, it was ordered from here, I could die, if I knew dad was doing orders to the palace I would have forced him to take me with him"

"Now you know why he didn't let you know " she's such a drama queen

she rolls her eyes "Anyway...…I was wondering if you would like to go on a double date?"

"Come on, you know I don't do that-" she interrupts

"Don't tell me you still aren't over Alex?"

I just remain quiet

"Come on Tori, His gone for good, he hurt you, now is time for you to move on, show him you don't care"

I answer with a soft tone "But I do care"

She just gives me a sad look, I guess she feels sorry for me, She suddenly walks out.

Alex was my first everything, I loved him so much, One day he just said he needed a break, I respected that and like a fool I waited for him, Didn't even go to prom with anyone cause I didn't want anyone but him, Then one day I saw him kissing another girl, my best friend Kelly. she, Anna and I were really close. when I went to confront him, I couldn't say anything, words didn't come out, instead, he introduced her as his girlfriend. She knew how much I liked him, she knew what he meant to me, and he-he just made me wait like an idiot, I was so heartbroken to worsen it, Kelly always tags me to every post of the two of them on social media.

She's always rubbing her success at my face, sure she has a fashion bouquet that's doing well, doesn't mean all of us are that lucky, some of us are even lucky to attend a good collage. I can't even believe that she was once a friend, My friend.

My phone rings ,My mum's calling

"Hello, mum? "

"Hi honey, are you still at work? "

"Yes, do you need anything? "

"When you're done, I have something to tell you"

"Okay no problem then, I'll see you later"

"I wonder what she wants to tell me that couldn't be discussed over the phone" Suddenly a costumer walks in.

____________________I was done with my shift by 7pm,so I took the bus home. Reaching home, I immediately rush to my mum's room, she was lying on the bed, her skin was looking so pale, The sight of her made tears gather, it felt like am losing her, I wish there was more I could do

My mum noticed my presence "Victoria you're back" she smiles at me

I immediately use my hands to clean the tears off my face, I walk towards her and sit on the bed 

"Victoria are you okay?"

I force a smile and nod "Yes I am" she touches my blonde hair 

"You're working so hard to take care of me "

"Of course, you're my mum, I have to take care of you"

"You're such a gift Victoria " I hold my mum's arm

"You'll be okay soon  mum, just hang in there" she smiles at me again

"I know" her facial expression changes "There's something I need to let you know "

"What's that mum?"

"You've always wanted to know who your real father is right?"

"Of course, more than anything "

She starts sobbing "I didn't mean to keep it from you, I was just trying to protect you-" she begins to cry

"Mum please don't cry, what is it?"

She lets out a sigh "Please don't hate me "

"I could never hate you"

"About twenty years ago, there was an accident, and I happened to pass by that night, It was queen Miranda, she was unconscious and in her arms, there was a baby, the baby didn't stop crying, so I carried the child, the queen held my hand, and tried her best to speak, She said I should please take care of the baby, those were her last words.

So I took the baby with me, I went to the palace the next day to return the child to the king, but the guards didn't let me in, they called me many names, that I was just looking for easy money, they spat at me called me a liar, that the queen and the baby were already confirmed dead.
