"How do you expect the fairies to keep living in Huntsville with everything going on?" Elder Calum yelled, breaking the silence of the room. He was the Alpha male of the wolf land. All wolf packs feared him because of his ancestry. He came from the line of Nicholas, a legendary wolf who had calm features but when he transformed, his eyes were cruel and cold. That was exactly how Elder Calum was.

Elder Alfred, the crown king of the fairies rose, taking his time, replied, "Do you expect my people to live in the forest or leave when you know this is our homeland and our history lies here? Huntsville is the place of our gods, we can't just leave, Elder Calum!"

Elder Calum chuckled, amidst the loud chattering of other elders in the room, " That's not our business, Elder Alfred. Your bones are visible already. Yesterday, we saw you bury another child and also, some other fairies have been kissing the earth goodbye. That means, your people are the problem of Huntsville! "

"Don't you dare blame us!" Elder Victor, the warlord of the fairies roared. "You buried a child since when this famine started, right? And I know that other wolf packs have been mourning their loved ones too. So, mind your words, Elder Calum.

Elder Rohr, the oracle bearer and oldest seer coughed, bringing an end to their heated arguments. "I suggest we vote on who stays and who leaves but I must tell you all, Huntsville would be better someday. There's a child who's going to change everything according to prophecy, so be wise in your decisions."

The eighteen elders and twenty commoners murmured agreement and proceeded to vote anonymously.

An hour later, Elder Rohr and two commoners proceeded to count the votes and record the figures.

"Alright, people, the wolves won but the fairies won't be leaving Huntsville because this is the land of their gods. There's a condition though, for them to stay, they would move to the other side of Huntsville, while the werewolves would take the remaining parts. Is that okay by everyone" Elder Rohr vibrated, glancing at everyone?

Elder Victor protested, "I don't agree, Elder Rohr. You're giving all the fertile lands to the werewolves! How do you expect us to survive?"

"Y'all can eat each other," Elder Brimstone, the deadliest werewolf chuckled with others. "You are fairies known for magic and gifts of healing and those freaky kinds of stuff, you guys can survive with the barren land!

Elder Alfred rose, taking a swift glance at everyone, "Is this your final decision, Elder Rohr?"

Elder Rohr coughed slightly, clearing his throat, "That's the best condition I can give you and your people, Alfred. If you don't accept this condition, there will be war and you know, your people won't survive because the famine hit them more badly than the wolves. I suggest you go home and call a meeting later to inform your people."

"Alright, so be it, then! I just want you to know that the humans to come won't accept us as we are. I wonder how the wolves would survive, maybe the humans would use them as pets. I will be leaving now," Elder Alfred smiled darkly, stepping out with some commoners and Elder Victor.

"Damn him!" Elder Brimstone yelled, glaring at Elder Rohr. That crazy king thinks he can scare us with his coldness! I hope they enjoy the barren land. I'm off, everyone."

Elder Rohr smiled lightly, settling into a chair. Some ended were still discussing the outcome of the meeting but most had gone already. He studied the prophecy stones that lay in his hands. It was glowing red now. He was perplexed. All night, it glowed white instead of the normal black. White usually symbolized a good omen but what? He prayed for some revelation but all he got was a fair picture of a little girl with elves-like ears. He asked his men to look for a newborn fairy baby but they found none except a five months baby boy who didn't have elves ears!

He was frustrated and with the outcome of the meeting, it will be harder to get who he was looking for and he could see himself giving up. He prayed inwardly though, that the fairies survived in that land. it was the only option to avoid fights.

The werewolves didn't live up to the condition though. When Elder Calum and Elder Brimstone found out about the fairies surviving even on the barren land. They sent spies to check out what they were up to.

"You mean they have fields of berries, yams and rice? How's that possible? I positioned the land to ensure they all died of hunger. Are you sure that's what you saw?" Elder Brimstone snapped, holding one of the pies' necks tightly.

"Let go of him, Brimstone. He's right. Elder Rohr saw the lands before he died and told his children to mix with the fairies because they were the future. Can you imagine that tricky seer knew all along these people would survive in that barren land but made us believe he was on our sides when he wasn't all along!" Elder Calum screamed, standing up.

"What do we do now?" Elder Brimstone asked, signaling the spies to leave.

"I think we should attack them. Kill them all, so that the prophecy would be dead and the future would start with us."

"I like that. How about the humans moving into Huntsville now? They are getting curious about the kind of people that stay here. I heard one of them claiming he saw wolves last night."

"We would hold a meeting and tell them, werewolves and fairies once started the city but those fairies betrayed the wolves that's why the fairies are extinct. We make them believe we are their friends," Elder Calum smiled, shaking hands with Brimstone.

"I love the idea, let's start work immediately," he replied, following Elder Calum out of the house.

"Elder Alfred, we are losing the war. What can we do?" Elder Victor limped inside the castle, loudly. The werewolves had attacked them unawares and many fairies were dead. They couldn't stand against hungry thirsty werewolves and their magic wasn't meant for evil but good, so it couldn't work for wars.

Elder Alfred sighed inwardly. This was all his fault. If he had listened to Elder Rohr before the old man died, maybe his people would still be alive. Now, they were laying on the field dead. He couldn't even find his daughter. Immediately the werewolves stormed into the land, his female servants had hidden in a barn but when he rushed to check there, his female servants were lying dead but no sign of his nineteen-year-old daughter.

"We fight till death, Victor. We must take as many as possible with us to the land of the dead! Are Brimstone and Calum here?"

Elder Victor chuckled, "I killed Brimstone a few minutes ago. He's such a coward! He was weeping before I stabbed him throw the heart. Calum is still leading the werewolves and we need you in the field now."

Elder Alfred scribbled a note for his daughter, Martha, hoping she was alive somewhere and would stumble on the note once the war was over. He glanced once more at his castle and walked out with Elder Victor.

The fight was still hot and he could see Elder Calum trying to kill one of his Elder fairies. He rushed towards them, then hitting Calum in the face, he got the man's attention.

"I guess we would see each other in hell!" he yelled pushing Calum to the ground with his shield.

"No, Alfred, you will be going first, Alfred, and I hope you meet your stupid daughter there!" Calum screamed, transforming, claws glaring.

His daughter was dead? No!

Calum noticed his distraction and jumped on it but Alfred was quick slicing his head off. Calum fell on the ground while Alfred held his chest, noticing the red blood gushing out. He fell, watching his people fall, then holding his sword with blood on it, he chanted the Elder language, making all living fairies fall dead and he closed his eyes, whispering Martha's name.

Martha stumbled out of the woods, the stars were out and she couldn't find the werewolves pursuing her since they attacked her people. She swallowed the hot tears that fell freely. She knew her father was dead and also her people. She heard earlier, the Elder language as her father uttered it. He thought she was dead and that made him take all living fairies with him.

She had to find her way back to the land and gather food and maybe find her father's body and bury it. She sniffed loudly again, holding the necklace Elder Rohr gave her to control her powers. She was the fairies' first oracle and that was what made her hair white and eyes blue like the sky. She didn't hate being the oracle but right now, she hated it because the gods didn't warn her ahead of the war. Something in her told her it wasn't the gods' fault because her powers were still in the baby stages but no! she yelled in her head. They should have prepared her.

Finally, she saw her land. The familiar buildings calling her but she sensed something else, there were some werewolves still alive. She quickly said a quick spell to make her hide and walked into her father's castle. There was a piece of paper on his desk and she picked it up, also some clothes and food, and rushed out.

She was the last fairy left.

Centuries later…

Sydney stepped out of the supermarket, dialing Daniel's number. She knew she wasn't supposed to be out because of her pregnancy but she couldn't sit inside the house all day without doing anything. She was also craving ice cream and so she had to get out.

Daniel picked up his call but she wasn't hearing him but someone else! Alicia, her best friend!

"Come on, Daniel, I need you in me, please. Just break off things with Sydney!" Sydney heard, gripping the phone tighter in her hands.

"Get out of my office, Alicia! I don't want you near me or Sydney ever again!" Daniel screamed but Sydney wasn't listening anymore. She cut the phone immediately and stepped into her car. She was going somewhere else.

Alicia knew Daniel was married to her. She couldn't believe her best friend would try to take her husband from her even though she knew they were expecting a baby.

"Open the door, you slut!" Sydney screamed, knowing Alicia was in. She sighted her car on the other side of the park.

Alicia opened the door, surprise written all over her face, "Sydney, what are you doing here?"

"You slut!" Sydney brushed her aside. "How can you do this to us?" I heard your conversation with Daniel. You trying to seduce Daniel to be yours when you know we are married and expecting a baby!"

"I'm sorry, Sydney. I wasn't thinking straight, " Alicia mumbled, knowing she just lost a friend.

"Don't ever step foot in my house again! Our friendship is over!" Sydney yelled, walking out.

She couldn't believe Alicia would do something like that. She was hurt. Alicia had been her friend since high school and betraying her felt bad. She drove across the road and noticed a middle-aged lady trying to cross to the other side. Sydney wanted to move on but she stopped. People were avoiding the lady which wasn't nice. Wasn't what she wanted to do too?

She changed her mind, stopped her car, and walked towards the lady.

"Hi, ma'am. You want to cross the road?" Sydney asked, smiling warmly.

Martha stared at her. This was the lady she had been waiting for. She could feel her powers swell with joy. She had to make the move now.

"Yes, please," Martha held the lady's outstretched hands and whispered the elder language, transferring her powers to the unborn child.

Sydney smiled again, crossing her, and once, they were on the other side, she felt dizzy but she sh thinking it was the sun and her confrontation with Alicia.

"Thank you, my daughter. I pray for the safe delivery of your baby. Take care of her, alright? She's a special child." Martha smiled, walking away.

"A special child? " Sydney wondered, stepping into the car. She suppressed what the lady said and refocused on the road but the conversation she heard between Daniel and Alicia kept playing in her head. She didn't notice the truck blaring at her until it was too late and working on shock, she hit the brakes too quickly and drove into the forest.

A few minutes later, Sydney woke up and found herself in a hut . An old lady was whispering and mixing some substance. Where was she?

"You had an accident and are almost losing your baby," the old lady said, staring at Sydney.

"What? Please, call the doctor or an ambulance or something! I can't lose this child." Sydney yelled, sitting up immediately

"They can't help you except a witch and I am one. I can only help you on one condition."

"What please?"
