The smell of disinfectant was getting more vital for Carol Brown, who suddenly opened her eyes.

An intense white light dazzled her and unsettled her for a moment. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her left wrist, prompting her to raise it to inspect it. She noticed that her wrist was bandaged. Her hand seemed smooth and delicate, whereas she remembered having calluses.

What's going on? she asked herself. Hadn't her boyfriend, Joe Smith, pushed her down the stairs to kill her? Why was she now in hospital? Could Joe have sent her there? No, he couldn't have! Joe, who had wanted to kill her, couldn't suddenly have changed his mind and come to save her.

Carol pushed back her blanket and tried to get out of bed, but her legs were so weak she almost collapsed. Stumbling, she made her way to the bathroom. When she opened the door and saw her reflection in the mirror, her eyes widened in surprise.

The person she saw looked like her, but it wasn't her. His face was alarmingly pale. If Carol wasn't mistaken, this was how she must have looked ten years ago. Back then, she had threatened suicide to persuade her grandmother to cancel an arranged marriage to a man she had never met. Her grandmother finally gave in to her pleas. But who could have imagined that, after devoting herself to Joe and his career, she would be betrayed by Joe and her best friend, Anna Johnson? At the age of thirty, Carol tragically lost her grandmother, the one who loved her most. She was murdered as part of a conspiracy.

Memories of her past flashed through her mind, and a deep resentment intensified in her eyes. Was fate offering her a second chance? She was back ten years, at the beginning of the darkest period of her life. She was determined to make the most of it if it was a dream! Carol clenched her lips and her fists so tightly that her left hand began to bleed again under the pressure. The door to the hospital room opened suddenly, followed by the sound of hurried footsteps. 'Where's my little one? Where is my little one?' A voice full of urgency that made Carol shudder came from outside.

'Grandma!' Carol's eyes opened wide, and her eyelids quickly turned red. Rushing to the door, she discovered three people in the room. In the foreground stood the person who missed the most: her grandmother, appearing just as she did ten years ago, whole of life and in great shape. 'Grandma!' exclaimed Carol, rushing over to hug her. Her grandmother wasn't dead, she was still alive! In her previous life, Carol had discovered too late that her grandmother's health had deteriorated because Joe had changed her medication, leading to her untimely death. Her grandmother was standing before her again, which was a real blessing. 'My little one?' Stunned by her gestures, Carol's grandmother stood still momentarily before putting her arms around her. ‘'y little one, are you hurt anywhere? Please tell me if anything's bothering you. "Grandma, I'm II'mfine; I've just missed you so much,’' Carol replied as she released her embrace, tears streaming down her cheeks and a slight smile on her lips. Everything was fine; her grandmother was in perfect health, looking at her with significant serenity.

Her grandmother was perplexed by her granddaughter's words and wiped away her tears, saying, '' You're the one who needs help. Why can't you express your feelings in any way other than such extreme gestures? '

Carol understood what her grandmother meant by ‘'drastic actions,’' but her grandmother did not know that these actions had been provoked by Sophie Brown, who had driven Carol to suicide.
