Serena got home from school when she noticed her best friend, Bea, in their living area. The latter was curling herself into a ball, lying on the ground while sobbing. Worried Serena, she went immediately to her friend.
“Hey, Bea… Why are you crying? What happened? Tell me.” She softly caressed Bea’s hair until Bea raised her head and hugged her tightly.
“Serena…Boohoo… Help me. I don’t know what to do.” Bea kept on crying on Serena’s shoulders.
“Now tell me, what exactly happened? So, I could help you.” She held Bea’s arms and softly pushed her to look at her in the eyes
“I… I’m pregnant.” Stunned... Serena’s eyes widened.
“How? I mean… To whom?”
“I don’t know.” Bea looked down, and she continued. “It happened when I went to a bar together with friends. I was drunk at that time… When I woke up, I was already at the hotel, lying on a bed, naked under the quilt.” Feeling hopeless, she looked at Serena, who was stunned.
After a while, Serena asked curiously.
“Do you know him? Or do you remember if what he looks like?” Bea shook her head.
“I didn’t know. Aside from I couldn’t remember anything back then. I also didn’t see the guy when I woke up.” Bea grasped Serena.
“Sese, please help me… If my dad knows about this fetus in me, he will surely kick me out.” Serena looked at Bea pitifully.
Surrendering… Serena sighed. “Fine, I’ll help you. But what is your plan now? Didn’t you think of aborting that, did you?” Bea looked at her, stunned.
“How did you know?” She muttered.
Frustrated, Serena burst her anger. “Are you nuts?!” Squinting her eyes. “Don’t you dare do that! I will help you but don’t think of removing that innocent fetus in you. Take the responsibility, alright?” Serena said sternly.
“But how will I keep this for 10months? Dad will have a suspicion. And besides, we’re also studying. How can I keep this at school?” Bea was in agony.
Serena sighed in frustration. “You should have thought of that before you enter in this kind of situation. Anyway, I will help you keep your baby in secret. But promise me, you’ll obey what I said. No more night-out parties until you deliver the baby. And we will not go home in our hometown for the time being.” Bea nodded slowly.
Months passed. Bea delivered a healthy baby girl. Her name was Maureen. Both Bea and Serena were happy to see their growing angel. But little did Serena know that Bea was planning to abandon the child to her. She even registered Serena as Maureen’s mother on a birth certificate. After that, she told Serena that she would come to visit her dad in their hometown. So, Serena has no choice but to babysit the baby.
When Bea visited her father, she went to Serena’s parents to tell them... that Serena had a baby. She even brought the birth certificate of Maureen that has Serena’s name as a mother registered on it. Albert Lincoln went on rage, knowing that her precious daughter disappointed her. They immediately booked a ticket. They will visit their daughter personally to see if Bea is telling the truth.
Serena was startled to see her parents in front of her. “Mom, Dad… You’re here.” She was about to hug her parents when her father welcomed her with a slap.
She gasped. Confused, she looked at her father. “Why…” Tears immediately pooled down from her eyes.
“Don’t call us your parents anymore. I don’t have a disgraceful daughter. From this day onward… We will not recognize you as our daughter.” Albert clenched.
“Dad, what did I do to upset you?” Serena looked at her father helplessly. She couldn’t understand why her father was in a rage. The mere fact that she didn’t do anything to offend her father.
A minute after, a baby was crying inside her room. Her heart was pounding so fast. Albert scoffed sarcastically. “Don’t bother to hide your daughter from us. We were not accepting her in our family anyway.” Serena was taken aback. ‘What is he talking about? My daughter…But I don’t have any.’ She thought. But a thought flashed in her mind. ‘Could it be Bea who framed her?’
“But the baby is not mine. She’s Bea’s daughter” Slap!
“Liar! Bea shows us the birth certificate of that child, and your name was on it!” Marie Lincoln said. Serena’s eyes widened in shock. ‘How did this happen? Bea betrayed her… And she even abandoned her child in hers. How could Serena be betrayed by her best friend? She even helped her. She clenched her fist into a tight ball.
“But the baby was not mine! Mom, Dad, please believe in me. The baby isn’t mine. I am telling the truth. Bea framed me. It’s hers.” Serena kept pleading, but her parents didn’t bother to listen to her excuses.
Marie shook her head. “I am very disappointed in you… We were disgusted with you.” Serena’s parents looked at her in disdain, then they left.
She froze in her position a minute after her parents left her. When she came back to her senses… She ran into the hallway of their apartment to chase her parents. But it was too late. The elevator was closed already, and she couldn’t leave the baby alone inside her apartment. She kneeled in front of the closed elevator, feeling helpless. Tears escape down to her pretty face. Her shoulders were shaking while she was sobbing. She even threw her anger at the floor and hit it using her hands.
How can her best friend frame her? After all the support she gave to her? Why does she need to suffer the consequences that she didn’t do? Now, what will she do to support the baby? She needs to stop going to school to support their needs. She’s alone now, and no one can help her.
After 15minutes of kneeling in front of the elevator…
The elevator opened. A handsome man in his late twenties was wearing a white shirt and blue pants with a pair of rubber shoes and sunglasses in his eyes that made him look more handsome. His perfect jawline clenched as he saw a young lady look miserable in front of the elevator. The young lady looked pitiful.
“Miss, are you alright?” Worried flashed in her eyes.
Serena couldn’t help but gasp. What happened to her? She kept on looking at the guy in front of her when she was in disheveled.
Flustered in embarrassment… Serena immediately stood up and ran away. The handsome guy was puzzled at her behavior. His lips curled up. It was his first time seeing a woman who could make him smile.
