Iyya POV
The thick forest waste and entangled grass is holding me back from running and putting up my feathered wings to fly. How I wish I could get back into my human body and be able to shout for help or run with my own two legs.
Everywhere my face turns to, Is thick forest and lots of bushes, I am in Serengeti, and from what I remember in my class 5 Geography books this is supposed to be more of a treeless grassland.
My heart is already pumping high on what is to come, my ears are pointed high and the trees swaying and branches clicking are some of the major disturbances I wouldn’t want to hear right now . Sunrays that are protruding through the tall trees are not helping, as they show my enemy exactly where I am and where I am heading.
I can hear car horns about 1km away and that is not a good sign. It’s the tourist cars and they are after the “Big 5” — a Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo, or Elephant. I do not want to get crushed or eaten at this moment, coming face to face with these animals will be the end of me.
I NEED TO SURVIVE,
I NEED TO LIVE,
Maybe going after the tourist cars wouldn't be a bad idea and would save me, if I get to the main road first, but which direction is the main road, I wonder? Maybe some tourists will take interested in me, like the Commissioner that brought me from Zanzibar.
Whether it’s poaching or buying me legally, I don’t care, Right now, all I need is to get out of this Park before I turn out to be a meal for the animals here and foremost the one chasing me.
And now it is all over,
Any second now,
The ground is shaking and the tree branches and leaves are being crushed, telling me how speedy the animal after me is running, as I start to tremble, I trip and fell, I try to look back to the danger after me and come face to face with a wolf “Oooh!!!! My God… it’s a giant African wolf”, sharp teeth, bending to my neck ready to tear me apart. I try to get up but can’t, roots like cobwebs are around my legs. I try to scream but I have no voice.
I say my last prayers and let the darkness completely consume me.
*****************
I blink as I open my eyes to a large body on top of me I can’t see its face, but it’s a huge animal covered in black fur, the smell of blood brings me back to my environment.
There is too much blood everywhere. "Is it my blood?, Am I dying?”.
No one in the middle of the forest bushes is going to help a Peacock, everyone is going to leave me for the dead or eat me for breakfast.
Lost in my thought, I am brought back to my senses by a roar vibrating just above my head, from the huge animal above me, even before my senses register more, I faint again…
My mind knows what that means
I am back to square zero
I am in the hands of another extremely big wolf.
