"Good evening, Your Highness."
"Welcome back to the palace, Your Highness."
Everyone bowed their heads as the woman who possess golden eyes passed by.
She didn't bother to greet back, nor look at them. She continued walking like she owns the whole place, well she does.
"My granddaughter, I'm glad you're here. It's been 4 years since I last saw you, have you been well?" A deep voice came from the old man sitting on his throne.
"I'm also glad to see you, Emperor. But I'm not here to take over your position. You know how much my dad wants that and I don't want him to kill me." That cold voice brought horror to the people inside.
"I won't let that happen. Besides, how's your study? You're in college now, right?" The girl nodded softly at his question.
"I'm fine. But remember to fire the professor that I hate so much, or I'll kill him myself."
"I already talk to Sinco about that. By the way, you've grown to a beautiful woman. As I expected, your eyes are still beautiful." The old man smiled sweetly at her.
"I accept everything you say as a compliment, Emperor. But don't praise my eyes that much, I'll end up being arrogant." The old man laughed out loud at what she said.
"You little kid. Why don't you just accept this position? You're the most perfect princess. I want you to--"
"You know the palace rules, Your Highness. The Crown Prince, which is my father, should be on that position. I will never have the chance to be an Empress," she said.
"But Arrow--."
"I prefer being a simple central guard, Emperor. We've already discussed this matter." The tone of the girl's voice became emphatic.
That even the Emperor was affected.
"Alright, Arrow, I won't force you. Don't get mad at me. We just met." The Emperor tried to calm his granddaughter.
She grinned which stunned the people inside the whole room.
"I came here as Arrow Vlood, as your grandchild. And not as a princess, Emperor. I want to ask for some important things, and I hope you can give those things to me," she stated seriously.
The old man sat on the throne as he faked a cough.
"You want us two, alone?" he asked. The woman nodded her head.
The Emperor signalled everyone to come out, so they did in just a few seconds.
"What is it, my grandchild?"
"I want to live a normal life, Emperor. I want those palace guards around me, gone. You know I don't want anyone following me, and they might end up dead if you don't stop them," Arrow stated.
"But Arrow, you can't roam around this country without your guards. I have to protect you from--"
"You're insulting me, Emperor." The woman's eyebrow rose.
The old man swallowed and shook. "No. I trust you, but--"
"You don't know how much I hate the word 'but'. You don't trust me enough. And as long as you don't trust me, I will never take that position that you're offering me!" she exclaimed.
"My grandchild, calm down. Please. I trust you, Arrow, I trust you a lot but I'll never let someone hurt you. Please let the palace guards protect you, I'm begging you," the old man said.
"I've decided already. Remove my guards, or you'll see their dead bodies in front of your palace in two days." The woman walked away after saying that.
She was about to get out when the Emperor spoke.
"Arrow, where are you going? Have a dinner with us first before you leave."
She turned to the old man.
"Thank you for taking care of me, Emperor. But I think this will be the last time that you'll see me. I need to leave. And please, take care of yourself while I'm away." She smiled sweetly at her grandfather.
The old man was stunned until his beloved grandchild left.
Arrow smiled, for the first time after 8 years.
She smiled, and that's the sweetest smile she ever gave him.
What does that smile mean?
----
"MOM LOOK AT this! Look what t I've found!" I shouted excitedly when I entered the house.
"What is it this time, my angel?" mom asked as she dropped the magazine she was holding.
I giggled as the frog came out from behind me. I raised it above my head. "It's a frog!"
"Arrow! Put that down!"
I immediately stood frozen on my position when mommy turned pale. Oh no. She's white as paper!
"Mom--"
"Throw that frog outside, Arrow!"
"Mom. I'm sorry. You look so pale." I hurriedly went to her and hugged her.
"Oh my baby, you're so sweet. Don't do that again, I'm afraid of frogs." Mommy stroked my hair sweetly. I nodded at what she said. I hate seeing my mom getting mad at me.
"I'm sorry. I won't do that again. It was dad behind this, mom, he told me to show that frog to you." As long as I can, I'll be honest with the two of them.
"You're so honest, my angel. Where's your dad, I'm going to beat him so bad!" I laughed at what she said.
Dad's moves were in a hurry when he arrived, he came from the garden where we plant some seeds a while ago.
"Hon? What happened? Why are you shouting?" daddy asked.
"Henry! What else did you teach Arrow to scare me?" mommy said angrily.
"What?" Daddy laughed. "It's just a frog, Victoria."
Mom looked at him with irritation. "You're using your daughter's innocence again to scare me, you're driving me insane, Henry!"
Daddy laughed and quickly protect himself from the magazine that mommy threw at him. I intervened before they even fought.
"Mom, dad. I have a new collection!" I giggled as I said that.
Mom suddenly turned to me, she smiled sweetly as she slowly caress my hair.
"You just finished collecting the paintings from Audrey Santillan but you have new collections?" dad asked curiously.
"Yes, I want to collect different kinds of stones. Professor James mentioned something one time about stones, I was very curious," I explained.
Dad chuckled on the other side. "Your innocence will surely drive everyone crazy, aren't you tired of your collections, Arrow?"
I smiled sweetly at them before shaking my head.
"It's a big achievement when I complete my collections. So please, mom, dad, let me do this." I hugged their arms and begged to look.
"You little angel, of course, we will let you. Just promise dad, no boyfriends okay?" Dad pinched my nose as he said that.
I pouted my lips. "Why? Is it bad to have boyfriends? But Tiffany told me that it's fun having boyfriends."
Dad shook his head in disbelief. "You can't just trust every boy out there, Arrow," he said.
"So, I can't trust you?" I asked him curiously. But Tiffany really told me that having a lot of friends is fun.
Mom laughed out loud and hugged me. "Henry, let Arrow do whatever she wants. We taught your daughter what's right for the past years, so she has the right to choose the right man for him." I turned to mom in shock.
"No mom, no! I'm talking about boyfriends, like a friend. Not a partner," I stated.
They looked at each other before chuckling.
"You're at the right age, Arrow. You're in your third year of college, I think it's time for us to meet your future boyfriend." Mommy raised her eyebrow multiple times to tease me.
Am I required to have a boyfriend? What if I am destined to be a nun? And one more thing, I'm scared to have a boyfriend. I still don't know the feeling of having a partner.
"Victoria," dad said in his warning voice.
"I know, Henry. But Arrow is ours now, so we have the right to decide whatever we want for our daughter. I don't want to be strict to our sweet heart." Their eyes are talking. But I could not understand what their eyes were saying.
"But mom, dad. What if my memories came back? Then I really have a boyfriend that I just didn't let you know? Then I'll have a boyfriend now? Isn't two-timing?" I asked them.
Dad laughed but mom's face paled that stunned me.
"No, Arrow, I'm sure you don't have any boyfriend back then. Also, didn't the doctor say you might not be able to gain your memories again? Don't even think about your amnesia, sweet heart, that will be bad for you. " Mommy caressed my cheek.
I smiled bitterly. "But still, I want to regain my memories, mom."
"Enough, Arrow. Too much thought will hurt you." This time it was dad who spoke.
I chose to zip my mouth even if I want to ask a million questions about my past. But I know that they knew what's best for me so it's better to follow them.
"Dad. You're heading to the company right?" I asked him as I flashed an excited smile.
He chuckled. "Yes, sweety. What do you want me to buy for you?"
Yes! "I want strawberry cake, dad. Can you also bring my laptop to Ace? He told me yesterday that he's going to fix it."
I picked up the laptop on the table before placing it on his hands.
Daddy messed up my hair before kissing my forehead. "Alright, my daughter. See you later. Bye, hon, I'll eat dinner here."
He kissed mommy first before winking at me. I winked back while giggling.
"Bye, dad!"
"See you, hon."
Mommy and I bid goodbye to him as he left for work.
"Arrow, go upstairs, you have to take a bath, sweet heart."
"Alright, mom. But mommy, about my transferee. Is it still going on?" I asked curiously.
She nodded and handed me a paper.
"We already talked to your dean, your files have also been approved so you can transfer to Knights IV University this week. The second semester is also near so we need to do it as soon as possible." I nodded repeatedly at my mommy's answer.
"But mom, I'll be away from you and dad. I heard that there's a dorm inside the campus. Can't I stay here while I'm studying there?" I asked hopefully.
Mom made a sad face. "You can't, my baby. I also don't want to transfer you there because you will be away from us. But your auntie told me that your future will be really better because the professors there are good."
I just bowed my head. Maybe I really need to transfer to other university. I want to make new friends also. I just hope I'll have good experiences at that school.
