Introduction
The legend about Gu Tingchen was that he was noble and cold, indifferent to the feminine charm, incredibly hard to approach. But who could've guessed that he would pick up a little girl halfway and lavishly pamper her in his palms. Hearing these tales, Bai Zhi felt like slapping his face. Noble and cold? He was clearly a big wolf dog who adored his wife! Indifferent to women? He was clearly an old rogue! Inexplicably difficult to approach? Was the one who kept on hugging all day a ghost? Bai Zhi tearfully ran away, indeed legends remained as legends — completely untrustworthy. Consequently, bystanders could not help but scorn Gu Tingchen for seemingly having no shame in chasing after his wife. To which, Boss Gu retorted shamelessly, "Can I hold my wife? Can I hold my face?"

A terrible accident occurred at Qingyuan Avenue, where a large truck collided with a small car, reducing the latter to fragments and overturning its shell.

Not far away, two people got out of another car and quickly moved towards this shattered and totaled sedan.

“Quickly check, are they dead?”

“Surely they’re dead, given the state of the collision, could anyone have survived?”

“The boss commanded us to leave no survivors!”

The two people peered into the bloody mess inside the car, scanned around hastily, and, having confirmed that everyone inside had expired, suggested: “Let’s go, we need to report back to the boss quickly.”

As their car hastily drove away, there was a sudden movement within the mangled sedan. He Wei, who had earlier closed her eyes, slowly opened them. She reached out and touched the girl sitting next to her: “Xiao Zhi, wake up. Wake up…”

The petrol from the fuel tank continued to drip, each drop emitting a terrifying sound.

He Wei, her head covered in blood, persistently called to Bai Zhi, who was now veering towards unconsciousness.

“Xiao Zhi, wake up, wake up, you mustn’t fall asleep.” He Wei kept calling out to Bai Zhi, afraid that she might drift off to sleep.

When Bai Zhi heard He Wei’s voice, she struggled to open her heavy eyelids, only to see He Wei, her face and head soaked in blood. Bursting into tears, she cried out, “Mama.”

“Xiao Zhi,” He Wei used her last bit of strength to instruct Bai Zhi, “Quickly crawl out and survive.”

All the windows on their side had shattered due to the impact. Crying hysterically, Bai Zhi shook her head, “I don’t want to leave, I want to stay with mama.”

“Listen to me Bai Zhi, you have to survive!” With all her remaining strength, He Wei told Bai Zhi: “You have to live! Quickly leave, the farther the better!”

Against her initial reluctance, the tiny little Bai Zhi looked at He Wei and started to climb out amidst her mother’s determined gaze. The shattered glass gashed her fair skin, blood seeping out, but Bai Zhi, oblivious to the pain, crawled obstinately towards the outside.

"Mother said she will live," mentioned Bai Zhi, clinging to this thought in her heart.

For this very hope, Bai Zhi struggled to crawl out of the wreckage until she was several meters away. Turning back with tears streaming down her face, she called out, "Mother, am I far enough?"

Her question was answered with a deafening explosion. In an instant, a burst of flame colored the sky red. The twisted wreckage of the car burst open, revealing a massive fire. Bai Zhi dumbly watched the firestorm, taking two whole minutes to recover her senses.

"No—!"

Bai Zhi dropped to her knees, shouting out in despair as she observed the fire. Her beloved parents, within the furious flames, had turned to ashes.

Behind her, a car pulled up.

"Mr. Gu, that's the Bai family's girl," a voice could be heard from inside the car.

The car window slowly rolled down and a pair of profound eyes rested on Bai Zhi. After a brief pause, the man murmured under his light lips, "I know."

The man sat on the back seat dressed in a black suit, the light from the fire reflecting on his resolute face, hinting a touch of indifference.

The tall, lean figure stepped out of the car, walking towards Bale Zhi, each step filled with inherent dominance. His sheer presence alone couldn't be ignored.

"Bai Zhi!" His deep voice carried a whisper of hoarseness.

Startled by her name being called, Bai Zhi subconsciously looked up at him. The tears welling in her eyes remained trapped, but an involuntary blink led them to fall abruptly, making her seem even more pitiable.

Gu Tingchen bent down and crouched beside Bai Zhi, reaching out with his long fingers to wipe away the blood on her face. Bai Zhi looked at his attractive hand now smeared with her own blood. Blinking her eyes, there was a slight defensive look in them. "Who…Who are you?"

"My name is Gu Tingchen, I'm here to take you home."
