Introduction
The August Wentworth Sect welcomed an adorable new junior sister, sending everyone into a frenzy of excitement. Spoil her! We must spoil her rotten! Thus began the endless showering of gifts—spiritual fruits, storage rings, elixirs, defensive artifacts... all given away as if they were mere pebbles. But when the junior sister started handing out return gifts, everyone was stunned. This girl's family background was no joke! Their joy lasted only a few days before they realized something was off. The junior sister was either cultivating herself or nagging them to cultivate. And then it got worse—every time they opened their eyes, she'd be there with a sweet but relentless smile, asking, "Time to train today?" Just as they were on the verge of losing their minds, they suddenly noticed something astonishing—their sect had become invincible! Huh. Cultivation? Not bad after all!

Qingyun Prefecture. Sect Examination.

Becca Webster’s head ached from the endless chatter—future big shots of the cultivation world sure were noisy as kids.

Out of nowhere—

She felt a tug on her sleeve. Looking down, she saw a little girl with soft cheeks grabbing her. The girl’s voice was sweet and gentle, “Older sister, do you want to join Sky Sword Sect?”

What?

Becca froze for a second before it hit her—this must be the heroine, McKenna Forsythe.

Three days ago, she’d woken up to find herself inside a cultivation novel, now trapped in the role of its infamous villainess—Becca Webster.

In the original story, Becca had joined the sect exam at age eleven. Her talent was mediocre, so she was eliminated. Out of kindness, first-place McKenna used her extra spot to pull Becca into Sky Sword Sect.

But Becca never appreciated it. She grew to despise McKenna, played nice on the surface while scheming behind her back. She even poisoned her multiple times—McKenna barely made it through alive.

When all was revealed, Becca still didn’t repent. She went as far as teaming up with demons, killing her fellow disciples. McKenna eventually had enough, crippled her cultivation, and kicked her out of the sect.

Not long after, Becca got snatched up by one of McKenna’s admirers. Locked away, tortured, limbs cut, spirit root dug out… then dumped on a back mountain to be fed to wild beasts.

Pretty brutal ending—so after arriving in this world, her first move had been simple: avoid McKenna at all costs during the sect test.

Yet somehow, even without seeking her out, McKenna had found her instead.

What was she, part bloodhound?! How else did she sniff her out so fast?

“Don’t worry, sister,” McKenna spoke again, when Becca just silently stared her down. “I ranked first in this trial, so I can bring one person with me. Will you come with me?”

Becca rolled her eyes. Yeah, no, worry wasn’t the issue—she didn’t want to go to Sky Sword Sect in the first place.

She was the villainess. Tagging along with the heroine? That was just begging to get screwed over.

She was beyond thankful she’d landed in the story before it started—gave her enough time to steer clear.

When McKenna noticed Becca ignoring her, her cute expression faltered. But then her gaze landed on the jade bracelet on Becca’s wrist—and her smile instantly resurfaced. “Sister, why won’t you talk to me?”

“I’m Webster, you’re Forsythe, and by the way, I’m younger than you by a month.” Becca tried to yank her sleeve back, but McKenna just tightened her grip.

McKenna widened her eyes, playing all innocent. “Could it be... you don’t like me?”

Ugh! Becca nearly gagged. Could she go bug someone else instead?!Becca Webster had figured a firm attitude would make McKenna Forsythe back off. Yet the woman just wouldn’t give up, still trying to convince her to join Skyblade Sect.

As soon as McKenna heard Becca retching, her smile froze for a second. Her eyes, hidden behind lowered lashes, flickered with a flash of cruelty. Becca really didn't appreciate kindness, huh? Fine. Once she got the bracelet, she’d have the Forsythe family take care of her.

“Give it up. I’m not going to your Sect, no matter what,” Becca said, yanking her sleeve out of McKenna’s grasp.

Stay alive, stay away from the heroine!

Just thinking about how the original Becca died so miserably in the book made her feel a chill towards McKenna.

Sure, McKenna could cultivate by whatever means she wanted—but trampling innocent people to get there? That was too much.

Back when she was reading this novel, Becca had already found the heroine’s values twisted. Why had she even bothered staying up to finish such a ridiculous story?

And worst of all—she’d woken up the next day as the most tragic side character in the damn book.

Her gaze chilled as she tightened her jaw. There was no way she’d end up like the original. She had to take control of her own path. No one had the right to decide for her.

“Then... could I buy that bracelet on your wrist, Sister?” McKenna tried again, changing tactics. “I really like it. I’ll give you one hundred low-grade spirit stones. Deal?”

Becca looked poor—obviously in desperate need of spirit stones. With that offer, she’d probably sell it without blinking.

And McKenna had to get the bracelet before the elders showed up. If Becca left with it, it’d be tough to get another shot.

“Get lost.” Rage flared in Becca’s chest out of nowhere. This woman was shameless!

How could someone like her be the protagonist?

Why on earth was McKenna the chosen one?

The bracelet wrapped around Becca’s wrist was the only thing left to her by her mother. She’d never willingly taken it off, and she had no idea it actually contained a hidden space filled with rare treasures.

But McKenna had seen right through it immediately. She was only trying to lure Becca into Skyblade Sect so she could manipulate her later and guilt her into handing over the bracelet.

When Becca refused, McKenna drugged her, waited until she passed out, and switched the bracelets to bind the space with her own spirit.

Becca died never having learned the truth.

That thought sent Becca’s entire body cold. She stared hard at McKenna, her voice like ice.

“About that question you asked earlier—I never answered. Let me tell you now.”

“I hate you. Honestly, I can’t stand you. Just looking at your fake innocent act makes me sick. McKenna Forsythe, stay the hell away from me, or I swear, I might just kill you.”
