Kayla Akinde was the fourth child out of five but was loved by her father way more than the others because unlike them Kayla always obeyed his orders without complains. She was twenty five and still lived with her parents since all her siblings were away. She managed her dad's group of companies since he was old and needed to rest, it was a family business but she was the only one who agreed to manage the business after her father.

She was slim and light skinned like her mother though she had little bright eyes like her father, a sharp pointed nose which she inherited from her maternal grandmother. She was beautiful and attractive with a nice height and curved hips.

At that time she was dating Jason Agee who was an actor and a musician and was also involved in politics. Kayla was popular, her family was known around the country and international. Kayla and Jason were seeing each other for over two years before their sudden break up which became the headlines in newspapers and magazines which affected Kayla's life in the most unexpected way ever.

It happened in February, Kayla was a workaholic and at that time she was working towards finishing the factory her father had started in another country but Jason wanted more of her which she couldn't give.

It was on a Tuesday afternoon when her best friend Christine walked into her office.

"Hey girlfriend" Christine, a plumpy lady with a beautiful gap tooth and big sexy eyes said sitting down.

"Hey" Kayla responded calmly while staring at her laptop trying to finish her work.

"My workaholic of a friend! How are you doing?

"Am good and you? Kayla responded putting away her laptop and just then her phone began to ring. She picked the phone and drop it back almost immediately.

"Whose call are you ignoring? Christine queried

"Jason" She responded leaning back into her chair

"Why?

"I don't want to talk"

"What's happening between the both of you?

"Jason has been very annoying lately and that's the last thing I need around me right now"

"What has he done?

"He doesn't want to give me space and it's annoying"

"He is your boyfriend"

"So what? When I need my space he should let me be, you know how work is choking me these days, the stress from her is enough for me please."

"Na waoo we'll talk things out with him stop ignoring his calls"

"I have tried severally to explain things to him but he just wouldn't listen, am just tired, let me call him back now and listen to what he will say" Kayla said picking her phone then she dialed Jason's number.

It ran for seconds then he answered

"Hi" Kayla said casually

"Kayla why are you ignoring my calls?

"Wow! Couldn't even return my greeting, anyway I wasn't ignoring your calls I've been busy lately thought I told you"

"Too busy to pick up my calls? Really?

"What do you mean? If I am busy I won't answer any call that is not inline with my business it's what I usually do so why are you behaving like it's something new? Look Jason you're become so annoying honestly. Why is it hard for you to understand me? I have practically explained this to you severally, just try to understand me"

"That's okay, I've heard you. Can we go on a date on Sunday then? I want to spend some time with you"

"Okay, Sunday then" Kayla said and hung up.

"He seemed quite calm" Christine said

"Yeah he always need a tongue lashing to get himself"

"Am not really sure your feelings for Jason are still the same" Christine pointed

"Why do you say that? Kayla asked with a giggle

"You would never speak to him like that if you still loved him as much as you did back in those days, he drove you crazy"

"The car ran out of fuel" Kayla laughed and Christine joined

"Mad girl but on a serious note babes, what's happening?

"I honestly don't know, but you're right my feelings have changed, guess I fell out of love with him" Kayla said calmly

"That's bad, the dude loves you"

"I know I just don't know how it happened"

"You got carried away by work"

"Maybe"

"Come on, let's go and eat now am starving"

"Yeah, let's go".

It was there routine everyday to have lunch together. Both ladies were popularly known, loved and respected.

The drove to their favorite restaurant to have their lunch.

Wednesday night which was popularly known as the "Ladies Night" Kayla and her best friend were not missing out. Kayla might have been a workaholic but she loved partying and clubbing at any slightest opportunity she got.

She and Christine had been in the club for two hours dancing and drinking and finally decided to rest when Ray James walked in and everyone began shouting at the sight of the musician.

"Oh wow, guess who's clubbing here tonight" Christine who went to check what was happening came back to tell her friend

"Who? Kayla asked nonchalantly sipping her drink

"Your enemy" Christine said with a smile

"Who is that? I don't have any enemies"

"Sure???

"Yeah......wait, Raymond"

"Finally"

"That asshole, anyway I don't care as long as he stays on his path"

"Yeah until he sees you, you know how he loves making trouble for you"

"I don't have his time"

Thirty minutes later Kayla and Christine got up to dance again. While dancing Christine mistakenly matched Raymond, he turned to her seeing that it was Christine he smiled

"Hey biggie, where's your broomstick of a friend? He asked with a sly smile

"Haha funny" Christine said irritated

Ray looked around and spotted Christine going to get another glass of drink then he followed her.

She poured her drink and turn to leave when Ray walked to her, the drink almost splashed on him.

"If I knew it was you then I would have poured it on your face" Kayla said as Christine joined them

"Not too late yunno" Raymond said sticking his hands in his pocket

"What do you want? Kayla questioned

"Nothing much just to put a frown on your face as usual" Ray replied

"Good luck with that but I don't have your time right now so get out of my way" Kayla said trying to leave

"Not so fast broomstick" Ray said dragging her back

"At times I think you're possessed seriously. I know all you want is to look at my cute face cause you don't have anything to say" Kayla said

"Ha! A face that is capable of giving one night mares, I wonder how Jason copes when you lie next to him, like does he usually look at at a face like yours till daybreak? That's torture, serious torture" Ray said with a disgusted look

"But you came all the way here to look at my face, didn't you?

"I jus wanted to annoy you it's what I love doing best"

"You should focus more on your career instead of annoying people whose status is higher than yours or is it jealousy?

"I can never be jealous of some one like you duck"

"Your bitches are looking for you" Kayla said seeing that Ray's girlfriend was approaching.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" Fiona, Ray's girlfriend asked holding his hand

"Came to say hello to an old enemy but am done let's go" Ray said and walked away with his girlfriend. Kayla shook her head and walked back to the dance floor.

Sunday night came and Kayla dressed up for her date with her boyfriend Jason.

She got to the luxurious Royal house, a restaurant that served amazing expensive dishes and drinks.

She took her seat on the table, Jason was already seated and had waited twenty minutes before Kayla arrived, he was use to it though.

"Hey beautiful, you look gorgeous" he said with a loving smile

"Thanks handsome" Kayla said with a smile that revealed her magnificent dimples

"So, how was your day? Jason asked staring at his woman admiringly

"Went okay and your's? Kayla replied taking out her cellphone from her purse.

"Was boring but now that you're here I know it will be better" Jason said holding her hand while Kayla smiled.

Jason was definitely looking forward to an amazing date while Kayla had something else in mind.

Just then the waitress came with the menu and they both made their orders.

"So damsel what have you been up to lately that has completely taken you away from me? Jason asked casually

"Work, I have been busy with work" Kayla responded while concentrating on her phone

"Even right now??

"Sorry I want to take care of something quickly"

"You've really changed Kayla seriously I've got to be honest with you and I don't like this side of you"

Kayla dropped her phone angrily and turned to Jason

"What? What exactly is your problem? How many times for Christ sake have explained to you what I have going on and how tough it is for me? Why on earth are you so selfish? For Christ sake Jason everything doesn't have to be about you, I have serious work and you just keep stressing me out, like am so fed of your attitude" Kayla quarreled

"Am sorry Kay I just miss you a lot"

"Seriously Jason I don't think I can continue with this"

"What do you mean Kayla? Okay fine, I promise never to complain ever again"

"No just forget it, cause I told you several times that I am working on my dad's project in Dubai and the stuff is taking all of my times and energy but you don't seem to understand. So what exactly am I supposed to do? What more should I tell you? Seriously Jason we need a break cause I can't take this anymore. You call me every minute like what the heck! Jeez am seriously tired please" Kayla said angrily. She took her purse and phone to leave but Jason held her back

"Kayla let's discuss this please, just sit let's talk"

"Let go of my hand" she said calmly

"At least eat something okay"

"Jason I said let go"

"Kayla.."

"I said let go" she said angrily but calmly and Jason slowly let go of her hand and watch her walk away.
