HERA'S POV.
I kept running as the man behind me kept calling my name in the dark. I had tears rolling down my cheeks but I kept on wiping them as I tried to increase my pace. The man caught up to me and grabbed my hand suddenly. He turned me to face him.
" Let go of me, you womanizer. " I cried out loudly.
" Please, listen to me Hera. Give me a chance to explain what you saw earlier. " He pleaded and I scoffed.
" I should give you a chance? Are you damn serious right now, James? What do you want me to listen to? Oh, you wanna tell me she seduced you? It's a week to our wedding you fool! Why? Why did you stoop so low? " I cried harder, hitting his chest very hard until he let go of my hand.
" Fine, you wanna know why? I hate you, Hera. I really do dislike you a lot. " My body system shut down when I heard what he said for five seconds that I forgot how to breathe.
" Wh...what did you just say, James? " I asked still not sure of what I heard.
" Yes, and I mean it, Hera. Which guy in his right mind needs a lady like you in his life? You are dirt, Hera. You are invaluable and also a waste of time. Do you think I have the time to stay with you and listen to the grumbles of that bastard you call a son? " He spoke with disgust which resulted in me slapping his face.
" How dare you! " He growled.
" I might accept your insults but listen to me, James, I don't joke with my son and never refer to him as a bastard because he is not, do you get it? " I spoke amidst tears. He burst into laughter at my words.
" Are you sure he isn't one because as far as I know your story, you don't even have any idea who the father is? " He said in a tone of mockery and my body trembled at his words. My lips began to quiver as I looked at the once loving and tolerable man in front of me with anger.
" I don't know why you decided to do this but it's a cruel way to treat me. "
" You deserve it, slut. For your information, I can not marry a lady who was raped by a drunkard and also got divorced after settling down two weeks after. I am going to cancel the deals I made with your father's company since we are no more in a relationship, right? Now shoo, you're a pain in the ass and so you know, you are also a worthless piece of junk. " He said in a tone of finality and left.
It seemed like the course of nature took pity on me as it began to pour heavily. I bent on the position I was in and continued weeping. ' Why? Did I offend someone in my previous life that led to me being punished unjustly? ' I thought as I stood up and started walking, going nowhere in particular.
I felt so lost in thoughts that I could not hear the honk of a speeding car. Before I could stay safe, I fell unconscious due to the scary images I had in my head immediately I came back to my senses.
ZEUS'S POV.
" What is my schedule before I resume back to work, Dan? " I asked as he opened the car's door for me to enter. I just cand back from a business trip and I was eager to go home because I missed my favorite pillow. Crazy, right?
" I have no idea now because Sir Blake didn't tell me anything but from my perspective, I don't think there should be many meetings on ground, and your schedule might be very tight because you were gone for a long time. " He replied.
" Thanks. " I appreciated. He nodded in response while he ignited the engine and zoomed off at high speed because the road was deserted at the moment. I closed my eyes as I sat comfortably on the seat to take a short rest when Dan halted and screamed.
" Haaaaaaaa. "
My eyes snapped open.
"What?" I asked.
"It seems your car knocked someone, sir. " He said nervously trying to shift the blame to my baby car.
" Well, let's see quickly. " I replied hurriedly and picked up the umbrella while Dan just rushed out and I followed suit.
" Ma'am, ma'am. " He called as he placed his hand on her forehead.
" Let's take her to the hospital. " I said.
We carried her into the car and Dan zoomed off to the nearest hospital. She was admitted into a ward and the doctor began her treatment while I waited patiently. She came out after a while with a nurse holding a file.
" Hello, Doctor. " I greeted.
" Hello, Zeus. " She responded.
" May I know what her condition is now? " I asked.
" Her health condition is terrible and it looks like she has been through a lot recently probably a traumatic experience. " She explained. ' Trauma? This is not good ' I thought but she continued, " She didn't sustain any injury from the accident, she just lost consciousness before the car could hit her and she has a high fever hopefully she will be fine bg tomorrow. "
" Thank you. "
" You are welcome. " She left.
" Sir, should I stay so you can go home? " Dan asked.
" No, I will stay with the patient. Tell my family that I am in my penthouse and I will come and see them tomorrow. " I instructed.
"Okay, sir. Goodnight and take care of yourself. "
" You too. "
He left while I headed towards the mysterious woman's ward to take a look at her condition and judging by the scars on her neck and hand, she must have been through a lot like the doctor said. She looked worried even in her sleep. I adjusted the blanket for her before sitting beside her. After pressing my phone for a while, I dozed off.
