It was 7 in the morning when Yanna got up from her bed and opened the window. It’s a beautiful day to start a new chapter of her life.

“Good morning world! Another day, another chance to make my life exciting and wonderful. Thank you, Lord, for always giving me this chance! Good morning Mr. Bird!” she genuinely said.

After staring outside for almost a minute she then took a shower and changed into a crop top and shorts. She also grabbed her Nike Air Force 1 and put them on. After blow-drying and straightening her black hair, she put on her makeup and headed downstairs.

She walked in and cleared her throat when she saw her mother and father sitting there talking in their inside voices. They both jumped up and smiled at her, and she reciprocated by kissing their cheeks.

“Good morning mama! Good morning papa!” She murmured while pouring the water into the cup.

Her mother gave her a wide smile. “Good morning, sweetheart,” she replied, and her father smiled as he glanced at her.

As she walked with her cup of water and sat down, her father suddenly said, “We need to talk to you.” She agreed while drinking her water. “Hija-“ She looked at him confused as he groaned and scratched his brow. “We need you to help us out,” he added, and she nodded for him to go on. “You’re getting married,” she put down her cup on the table as she gazed at him with wide eyes.

Am I dreaming? Did I hear that right? Me? Getting married?! But why?! She said in her mind.

This can’t be true. "Wh-What?! please dad tell me this is a joke. You’re joking, right? Right, mom?" She said while shaking her head, hoping that everything he said is not true but they both shook their heads. "Dad! Please! Don't do this to me. I’ll be a good daughter from now on, just please don’t do this!” begging to change their decisions.

He sighed, “Hija, you promised me you’d do anything I asked, so please do this for this family. You love your family right?” her dad said, making it difficult for her to breathe.

“Perhaps when I tell you who it is, you’ll alter your mind. It’s the Hernandez Family” Hernandez family?! The city’s wealthiest family. How is this possible? She never thought that this would happen.

With a shake of her head, She looked at them, disappointed. “You think I’ll agree because they’re the wealthiest family in this city!” I exclaimed, tears streaming down my face. “Dad, I’m not a gold digger, and you know that I don’t care about money!”

Her mother sighed and rolled her eyes. “We’re broke, Yanna! Next thing you know, we’ll be on the street!” she uttered angrily. “That’s why we’re asking you to marry Mark! His own father asked for you, so we’ll give you to him! Please do this for your family hija. We don’t have any choice.”

They never yelled at her or forced her to do anything before, so why are they acting like this now? She closed her eyes and ran upstairs to her room and slammed the door shut and locked it. She slowly slid down the door crying her eyes out.

In the absence of any escape routes, no friends to help her, and no other options available, I guess I will be forced into this marriage.

She walked to her bed and laid down with the thought of what would happen if she married him. Praying that everything is just a dream.

Mark Thaddeus Hernandez is the firstborn of the Hernandez family and the CEO of their company. Handsome, wealthy, intelligent, noble, with six-pack abs, single and mysterious. That's how people described him.

He was playing Call of Duty Mobile when his dad suddenly entered his room and said something that made him throw his phone. "What the fuck do you mean I'm obliged to marry one of your friends' daughters?!" He exclaimed.

He sighed as he glanced at him. "Sit down, Mark. Just listen first." He said. Trying to calm Mark down.

Mark made a sardonic chuckle. "Are you even fucking kidding me? Sit down? That's what you're going to say?" He shouted. “Dad, you're pushing me to marry someone I don't even fucking know! This doesn’t make any sense!"

He heard his mother let out a deep sigh “Look, Hijo. This lady is wonderful, she's lovely, and once you see her, you'll fall in love with her and want to know more about her. Okay?" she remarked, making Mark shiver.

He rubbed his face in frustration. They are being ridiculous.

"This is for the best, Mark! for you and your company! Don’t you want the best?" His dad screamed fiercely,

Mark clenched his jaw. "What do you mean, best? it's for the worst dad! This is the worst thing I have heard in my entire life!" I kicked the wall as hard as I could, "This is fucking nonsense!" He yelled in frustration,

“Don’t be like that in front of your mom!” His dad said angrily.

“I'm sorry but can you please get out of my room? Get out!” Mark shouted.

“Please think about it son…” His mom said before shutting the door.

This is all bullshit! Marrying someone just for the sake of the company? He was staring at the window when suddenly his door opened.

"Dude, calm down, it's not that horrible unless the girl is ugly as fuck," he remarked smirkingly as Mark turned around to see his brother Carl entering his room while staring at him.

“Stop being an asshole, dude,” He said.

"You know that I'm not the sort of guy to be in a relationship," He moaned and sat down on one of the chairs in front of him, and Carl came and sat next to him.

Carl let out a deep sigh."Dude at least try, Mom said we're going to visit them tonight, let's see how she's doing." He said while patting his brother's shoulder.

Mark frowned and stood up, wondering what the bitch looked like. I bet she was most likely a snobbish gold-digging slut.

While Alyanna was staring out the window her mother came in and urged her to get ready because the Hernandez family was coming in a few hours. She took a deep breath and put on one of her dresses.

She looked at her mirror and stared at her face. Do I really have to do this? asking herself. She shook her head and took out her hairbrush and began to brush her hair. As soon as she was satisfied, she took out her make-up kit and applied some simple makeup to her face. Before heading out she makes sure to spray some perfume and put on her Vintage Louis Vuitton sandals. They must have come when she heard noises. Her mother was escorting her upstairs. With a cheerful smile, "Come and see them." she said,

Alyanna proceeded down the hall with a blank expression on her face and didn't say anything. When she finally arrived, she saw the Hernandez family and, as her eyes began to water, she blinked her emotions away. She heard her father say, "This is my daughter Alyanna." She knew they were waiting for her to say hello, but Alyanna kept her head down.

Her mother came up to her and squeezed her hand. "I'm sorry, she's just shy." She said,  Alyanna carefully rose to her feet and gazed at the gorgeous woman with brown hair who seemed like her mother's age.

She’s very pretty at her age. Alyanna wonders if she’s using any cosmetic products to enhance her face. "Hi," she replied nervously as she walked towards her in surprise, then wrapped her in her arms.

"Hello, hija! God! You’re very pretty. Am I right, Mark?" she said, resting her palm on Alyanna's cheek and lovingly staring at her. Alyanna smiled back.

Her attention was drawn to the family, which consisted of a man who she assumed was the father, as well as two guys, one of whom was waving at her, while the other was staring at her blankly, and she noticed a young girl who looked like the same age as her.

So this is the wealthiest family in town. They look intimidating. I feel like something is wrong here. Maybe I’m just being paranoid. Calm down Yanna.  Everything’s gonna be fine. Just go with the flow.

"Come sit down," her father urged as he led them into the living room, which she slowly followed.

Alyanna sat next to a girl who seemed like her age, and she smiled as she glanced at her. "Hello, my name is Katrina, but you could call me Kat," she said, and Alyanna nodded and smiled.

Alyanna's mother turned to look at her and then at the man with an intimidating expression on his face. "Yanna, hija. This is Mark," she said. She gave him a quick glance and a small nod.

I'm assuming he's the one I'm going to marry. She said in her mind.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Yanna," he said in a husky voice.

Alyanna raised her eyes slowly to meet his. They both stared at each other for a moment before breaking eye contact as Alyanna's mother spoke up.

"It's probably time for dinner, Yanna can you help me out in the kitchen?" Her mom said, and Alyanna stood up from her chair with a nod.

Mrs. Hernandez stood up. She smiled and continued, "I'd like to help as well." she offered.

Alyanna's mother shook her head "Oh no, please sit down. You are our guest so please make yourself at home," she responded.

But Mrs. Hernandez shook her head firmly and insisted on helping. She stood up and followed her mom to the kitchen while Kat followed her action. While Alyanna's mom and Mrs. Hernandez were preparing the meal, Kat helped her in putting the plates down.

"I'm thankful you're marrying my brother, not some snobbish bitch." Kat whispered,

Alyanna chuckled. "What would you do if I were a snobbish bitch?"  she asked her,

She just laughed, “Well, I don’t even know. I'm just thankful that it's you. You look good for my brother.”

After they finished talking and putting things on the table, everyone came and sat down while Alyanna was grabbing some extra food that wasn't on the table. She was about to scream when she accidentally burned her hand while putting the baked mac in a bowl, but instead hurriedly bit her lip and rushed to the table to put it down.

When she saw her mother step out of the kitchen, she looked confused at her. Alyanna went to the upstairs bathroom and dipped her hand in cold water when she heard a knock on the door, and she knew it was her mom. ”Mom, I'll be out in a second, I burnt my hand.” she said.

“It’s me.” Someone with a husky voice said outside and the door slowly opened showing her soon-to-be husband, he looked at her seriously, "Your parents sent me to check what you were doing." he said bluntly.

Alyanna took a deep breath and then exhaled slowly. "Why? Do they think I'll getaway? What's wrong with them?" she said as she grabbed the first aid kit and rubbed some cream into her hand.

After she was done she put the kit back where it was.

He clenched his jaw and asked, "Why do you want to marry me?" "Is it for money? I can give you fucking money!" he yelled, sending Alyanna tumbling backward into the sink. "Is it the wealth? fame? Tell me what it is," he shouted aggressively.

Alyanna shook her head with watery eyes. "I tried disagreeing but they forced me to do it," she replied quietly, her gaze falling to her feet.

"Are you dumb? Do you know what will happen if we got married? Fuck! We'll gonna be stuck with each other for the rest of our life." Mark said while releasing a deep sigh.

"I'm sorry but I'm also a victim here, so please, stop blaming me. I didn't demand this to happen. If you're that persistent to stop this marriage then do something." Alyanna said and walked past him out of the bathroom.

When she went downstairs, she noticed that everyone was talking about the wedding. She walked over to Mark's mom and sat beside her. She only put a small amount of food on her plate and started eating it. When she glances up, she notices Mark sitting in front of her. She did not dare to look up as she gazed at her plate.

Everyone went quiet. "Ehem- So we decided that your engagement will happen next week!" Alyanna's mom said.

"What?!" Alyanna and Mark said.

"But mom..." Alyanna said while looking at her mom with a disappointing look.

She glared at Alyanna, "No more buts. It's planned and decided already so both of you must be ready for that day."

No one dared to talk. The dinner passed and once everyone was finished eating they started talking about the gowns and stuff but Alyanna was too busy thinking about something.

After a while, Mark and his family stood up. "Thank you for having us, Grace." Mark's mom said while smiling.

"No, thank you for coming. Please come back again." Alyanna's mom replied.

They walked towards the door and Alyanna opened it, everyone walked out except Mark. He looked at her with anger, "Goodbye." He said through his teeth clenched.

Alyanna nodded, "Goodbye. Take care." He hates her to death.
