So, my life somehow got worse...
The fact that I turned 18 last week means I'm now old enough to find my mate. I have been looking forward to this since I was seven years old. When my wolf started going crazy as I was walking out of class, I was unable to contain my excitement. Then suddenly, all I could smell was mint, it was the most amazing thing I've ever smelt. The scent led me out of the building behind the school where I saw him. My mate.
“Fuck” I said as he finally saw me, anger and desire filling his eyes.
Just my luck, it had to be Connor Black.
“It can’t be you.” He growled at me. I just stood there in shock. How could I be mated to him? He's an arsehole!
Mate!!! My wolf purred in my head.
It can’t be him I reasoned with myself, he’s made our life hell for years...
Mate! She purred again.
It was easy to see her attraction to him, and for a moment I got lost in it. I lost myself in him, in those dark brown eyes that seemed to try to undress me. As I stared at his 6-foot frame of muscle and a face that resembled a sculpture, I allowed myself to look at him for the first time. While still staring at me, he ran his hand through his jet-black hair, causing his shirt to lift up, giving me a glimpse of his six-pack.
What am I doing???
You’re eyeing up our mate, don’t worry doll it's natural. He is a hell of a specimen.
I can’t like him! I hate him! I responded to her.
Not anymore you don’t doll. She purred in response.
“Are you listening to me?” he yelled, interrupting my silent conversation.
“It’s Amy, right? Hello?” he said, sounding calmer now.
Does he think my name is Amy? He's ruined my life for years and doesn't even know my name… It broke my heart to think that I meant so little to him.
"I'm sorry, but I cannot do this. There must have been a mistake, there's no way I could have mated with someone like you." His voice was filled with pity.
I felt as though I couldn't breathe, like my world was crumbling under me. He was going to reject me! My wolf howled in agony.
My head turned as I heard Tyler's voice from the car park. "Connor baby? Where are you?"
“I’m coming.” Connor yelled back, getting up. With one final look at me he left.
As I sank to the hard floor, I couldn't believe it; I finally met my soul mate, and he was going to reject me. First time since my parents' deaths, I cried.
