My parents abandoned me for 18 years. The family I lived with were kind until they had their own child. They returned me to the orphanage where I grew. My biological parents came back for me a few months later.
I soon realized that the only reason they wanted me back was to get married to an Alpha heir. I was brought back to serve as an alliance in a political marriage. After my younger sister refused, I was the next option.
I was wolfless. I was the ripe age of eighteen and I was yet to see my wolf. Although I could hear her speak,I couldn't transform. To my parents, it was an additional humiliation. I guess that's why they abandoned me. Then they have new children, perfect wolves.
I stared at the pictures before me and I couldn't help but drool. He had everything from his well sculptured face to his body build. It was heavenly. His eyes looked like winter skies reflected in shards of ice.
The Man standing in front of me,my father.
“Zendaya,” he sounded irritated.
“He's a lovely boy and a wolfless can never get this opportunity.”
I let out a sigh. “No father,I don't need this!” I shoved the pictures away. “I just want to go to school. I don't want to get married.”
“Do you want to be homeless again.” My mother gritted. “This opportunity is rare,so you must. If not for your sister—”
She stopped mid-sentence. I raised my brows. “My sister?” I deadpanned. “So why doesn't she want the golden opportunity?”
Her hand shot up and I instinctively raised my hands to block it. It was a habit I learnt in the orphanage. Amelia froze. She didn't hit me. When I looked up, Hendrick held her hands. Her voice turned cold.
“Watch your tone young lady.” My father said. “Lyla is your sister. And she's your mother. We are family.”
“Yet you abandoned me for 18 years.” I snapped. “Clearly I'm not the one you both care about. Lyla is. So let her have the fucking wedding.”
I sharply stood up from the chair and headed back upstairs. I took one glance at them before stomping upstairs. I feel like this has been the only topic they've been talking about since I got back and I'm sick of it.
I didn't grow up knowing my parents. I grew up bouncing from orphanage to foster home to orphanage, thinking I was just a human girl no one loved or wanted.
The latter was true, but the former was that I was the first child of the Whitemoon Pack and the next in line Luna. I only found that out on my 18th birthday.
I curled at a corner in the orphanage after being told I'd have to leave the orphanage cause I was turning 18. As tears began to stream down my eyes, they showed up.
Something told me that that man with red fiery hair and eyes like the colour of chestnut, shiny and alive had to be related to me. His nose was the same shape as the one I saw in the mirror. His aura matched mine and my wolf knew it was familiar.
I stood up immediately. Then he told me his name and introduced the woman close to him as my mother. And that he was my father.
Words refused to form in my mouth. The only thing I could process was “Why?”
It was a question they refused to answer till date. That gave me all the information I needed to know. They never loved me. I was never wanted. I was tossed aside like rags. The only reason they came back was to validate their lineage and create an alliance to keep their throne.
I was the political pawn.
That and I was the political pawn without a wolf. A wolfless that meant nothing.
He told me I was supposed to be a werewolf. A being who could transform into a wolf on the flip of a dime. With super strength and hearing and all the cute occult abilities I read in books. But I had none of it. I was exceptionally ordinary.
They hated that about me_or rather they despised my plainness. They had gone so far to let their own blood wander in the world alone for eighteen years. The thought was burning my head as I stormed to my room and slammed the door.
The door creaked open revealing my father or should I say Beta Hendrick.
“Zendaya, let's make a deal, you'll attend Redcrest Academy. And if you graduate,I'll let you be but if you don't,you'll have to get married.”
I glanced at him and he was serious. “Fine,Deal!”
Hendrick let out a cold laugh. “If you can graduate on your own, then fine. Werewolves show no pity unlike humans.”
“I'm not weak either,I'll graduate on my own.”
It took a month to be enrolled into Redcrest. I packed a few bags and left the castle in a car. It was my first time in a few months to step out of the castle. I was always hidden, even when we had visitors I was locked up in my room like a disgusting secret no one should find out. It was the first time seeing my country fade into a blur of green as I was whipped to the next prison.
The car came to a halt in front of the Academy. Amusement flickered across my face. It looked like it was carved in the past. It stood magnificently in the middle of the court yard. Different students grazed around. No crowns,no fancy clothes. It felt like I was suddenly human again.
I breathe a sigh of relief. This was easy. I could do this. I excelled in high school. Graduated with a five-point-oh. Did I have any friends…No. I did it alone. I needed to fight my way through this school and free myself from that stupid marriage.
I stepped out of the car as the driver helped me remove my things from the trunk. No one gave me a second glance. As far as they knew,I was another rich child coming to learn. I was the disgraced hidden heir to the throne. I felt like a burden was lifted off my shoulders. I could do this. I could make it through.
I grabbed my bag and started towards the admission block. Just as I reached the stairs, a mass of grey fur came towards me,before I could process anything, I was knocked to the ground in a flurry of my bags.
The weight that has just been lifted came slamming into me like a ton of bricks. I let out a scream as every bone in my body felt a surge of electricity course through it like blood.
