During my pregnancy, I suffered severe morning sickness. Whatever I ate, I threw up.

Only the hot and sour noodles cooked by Fang Xiuran could stay in my stomach.

However, he didn't return from work until late at night.

I went to the window to get some fresh air, and unexpectedly saw Fang Xiuran holding a woman in his arms, their actions affectionate, seemingly kissing.

I shivered instantly, and tears sprang from my eyes.

What crushed me even more was the warm, red fluid gushing from beneath me – an unknown terror leading me to despair.

I was lifted into an ambulance, passing right by them in their embrace.

When I woke up the next day, the doctor regretfully informed me, "You've lost the baby. Starvation combined with emotional stress caused it."

After that, I proposed a divorce to Fang Xiuran.

He, on his knees, begged me for forgiveness, saying, "We can still have children."

But I knew, we couldn't.

"I'm sorry, but you've lost the baby."

I was still lying in bed, dumbfounded, when I heard this.

The doctor said difficultly, "Starvation and emotional agitation caused it. You need to rest well afterwards."

I nodded lightly, and the doctor and the nurse left the room.

I turn my head, silently shedding tears.

No one knows more clearly than I how precious this child is.

I’ve gone through numerous in-vitro fertilization attempts, finally getting pregnant after much hardship.

Since I became pregnant, possibly due to bodily rejection, I’ve been nauseous whatever I eat, with my whole body skinny beyond recognition.

I surprisingly found that I could comfortably eat some Sour and Spicy Noodles that Fang Xiuran made himself.

I’ve tried Sour and Spicy Noodles from outside, but only Fang Xiuran’s homemade version has that special touch.

Yesterday I waited for him to finish work, and even when it was past midnight he still hadn’t returned, I couldn’t resist my hunger and ordered takeaway.

But I still threw up right after my first bite.

After a long while, I barely managed to suppress the nausea and ran out to the balcony to get some fresh air.

I looked down at Fang Xiuran, holding a woman dearly in his arms.

I recognised her as Shen Weiwei, the intern that Fang Xiuran often talks about lately.

Almost instantly, my entire body started trembling, with tears blurring my vision.

But what made me even more desperate was the warm liquid trickling down my legs, as I reach down and touch it, the sight of the bright red blood stings my eyes.

My face grew pale, I frantically searched for my phone, finally finding it in a corner of the sofa.

I quickly dialed 120.

When the ambulance arrived, there was blood everywhere, spreading through the floor tiles.

The nurse helped me onto the stretcher.

"Save my child..." I clung to the nurse’s clothes desperately, as she kept comforting me: "It's okay, it's okay, everything will be alright once we get to the hospital."

The paramedics lifted the stretcher and struggled to load me into the ambulance.

Through a gap, I could see Fang Xiuran still holding Shen Weiwei, seemingly not noticing me at all.

Shen Weiwei was in his arms, her shy smile illuminated by the ambulance lights.

I watched, eyes open, as Shen Weiwei kissed the corner of Fang Xiuran's lips, and he did not avoid it.

They were lost in their own little world, ignorant of the piercing sounds of the ambulance behind them.

If only Fang Xiuran had turned to look back, he would've noticed me.

Unfortunately, he didn't.

Tears rolled down my cheeks, my heart ached with a stinging pain.

I knew then, it was over between Fang Xiuran and me.

It was only after a long while that I managed to compose myself, I took out my phone and sent a message to my mom.

[The baby is gone, Fang Xiuran is having an affair.]

I didn't hold anything back. These were things she was bound to find out sooner or later.

My mom's message came soon.

"Sweetheart, don't be sad, I’ll be there soon."

I've been separated from my parents since I was a kid. I lived with my father, but he died a few years ago. My mom works abroad; she couldn't come immediately.

It gives me a chance to deal with everything before she arrives.

In the afternoon, I received a phone call from Fang Xiuran.

He started off by accusing me.

"Lin Yitang, where have you been? Why is there blood all over the house?"

He didn't ask how the blood got there or whether I was safe. It seems that in his eyes, I'm not at all important.

"Speak up, Lin Yitang, I am very busy right now and don't have the time to deal with your antics. You are pregnant. Can't you consider more for the child?"

Suddenly, a wicked idea arose within me. "Oh, I cut my hand while chopping vegetables."

Fang Xiuran seemed to recall my coming home late last night, and the fact that I, being pregnant, couldn't eat anything.

His tone softens: "I'll cook some hot and sour noodles for you and have my secretary send them over."

"No need," I respond coldly.

I distinctly felt that Fang Xiuran’s mood was strained for a moment.

I broke into a smile and then said, "The doctor says I can't eat spicy and fresh food."

Fang Xiuran furrowed his brows: "Then eat something else, pay attention to your nutrition."

With that, he hung up.

I stared at the dark screen of my phone, my eyes deep in thought, considering how I could get a larger share of the money.

Over these years, I’ve been a housewife and lack any work experience.

Now I regret, marrying him as soon as I graduated from college, for the sake of one man.

He wanted children, and though I was physically weak, I underwent years of IVF without objection before I became pregnant.

Only I know the hardships I have gone through during this process.

Is it painful to be cheated on by Fang Xiuran?

It probably is, so painful that I can barely breathe.

My tears start to well up again.

Suddenly, my phone rings.

It's a message from my mom.

She recommended a lawyer to me, with an extra piece of advice added.

"Fight for more benefits, don't be shy, this is what he owes you."

My mother is a strong and independent woman. Years ago, in a fit of rage because of my father's obstruction of her career, she decided to divorce him decisively.

I added the lawyer's contact information and described the current situation to her.

The lawyer sent a message.

【Keep your miscarriage a secret for now.】

I put down my phone and sighed.

Suddenly, the door to the hospital room was flung open. As a reflex, I looked up to see Shen Weiwei, who I had just met last night.

Shen Weiwei smiled at me saying, “Sister Yitang, this is what Xiuran asked me to bring for you.”

As she spoke, she placed the health supplement on the table.

I stared at her, returning a smile, "How old are you?"

"Twenty-two, I just graduated from college."

I beckoned her over, "Come here, let me take a good look at you."

Shen Weiwei nervously grabbed her skirt, and walked over to me.

"Crouch down."

Shen Weiwei hesitated for a bit, then obediently squatted down.

I held her chin, indeed, she was young and beautiful.

"But it's quite impressive to have such a calm demeanor, to sleep with another woman's husband at night, and then talk to the man's legitimate wife as if nothing happened during the day."

Shen Weiyi's eyelashes trembled anxiously.

Suddenly, I let go of my grip. Before she could take a breath, I slapped her across the face.

With a loud "smack," Shen Weiyi covered her face in disbelief.

"How dare you hit me?"

More shaken was Fang Xiuran, his voice escalating, "What are you doing, Lin Yitang?"

I looked up coldly at the man I once loved, and found his face repelling now.

Before he could speak, I said, “Let's get a divorce.”

Fang Xiuran frowned, visibly annoyed. "What are you doing now?"

"Just because you're carrying our baby doesn't give you the right to mess around with my employees. And now you want a divorce too?"

Only now do I realize, after seeing his actions, that he never really loved me.

Shen Weiyi pulled on Fang Xiuran's sleeve in a low voice, "Xiuran, don't get angry at Sister Yitang. It may be her illness that made her upset."

Upon hearing this, Fang Xiuran's face darkened, "Ill? That's not an excuse for her to act absurd."

I said coldly, "Do you think this is a joke? I do really want to divorce you."

Fang Xiuran was irritable. "Enough, Lin Yitang, what can you do without me? Go find your biological mother who doesn't want you?"

I tightly grip the bedsheet, my mom has never not-wanted me.

"Take care of yourself, don't be willful, I have a meeting tonight."

Upon finishing, Fang Xiuran left with Shen Weiwei.

I faintly heard Fang Xiuran telling Shen Weiwei, "She has a bad temper, don’t visit next time."

Deep in my heart, I smirkingly laughed. If my temper was truly bad, these two despicable people would have been torn apart by me long ago.

Fang Xiuran and I grew up like childhood sweethearts, he knew perfectly about everything that happened at my home.

My dad is a workaholic, my mom divorced for her career, and I always stayed home alone.

To outsiders, it might seem that I have a pitiful life.

But I don't find myself pitiful at all. My parents gave me a lot of money, even spent a fortune on various interest classes. My energy is completely spent on them, and they even call me when they have the time.

They love their jobs, but they love me just as much.

I thought Fang Xiuran understood me, but his understanding of me existed only in his imagination.

I don't feel like my life would end without him.

During school, because of what happened at home, he indeed took good care of me, with my pocket money mostly spent on myself.

During festivals and holidays, he never missed giving me gifts and red packets.

Arriving adults would always tease, considering me his wife whom he had raised from a child.

Fang Xiuran always comforted me, saying, "If they don't want you, I want you."

As a teenager, I was overjoyed to hear these words.

But now, I can only sigh. In Fang Xiuran's eyes, I am nothing more than a pet he keeps.

I used to be better off than Fang Xiuran; he always felt inferior. Now, through his own effort, he’s a rising star in the business world.

I still remember the day the company went public, Fang Xiuran hugged me and said, "I can support you for the rest of my life, my princess."

I was thrilled, yet the present result is but disillusionment.

I suddenly remembered what my father said on my wedding day.

"Tangtang, as a man, I understand how men think. If your choice is wrong, you must learn to cut your losses in time, just like your mother, understand?"

Now, I not only need to be decisive like my mother, but also strategic like my father.

If we are getting divorced, then our wealth should be divided; at least I want half.

Those years of being a housewife were not for nothing.

I asked a lawyer to draft a divorce agreement for me.

Having arranged everything, I sat in the wheelchair and asked the nurse to take me out for a breath of fresh air.

As we passed a carved corridor, I saw a familiar figure and softly commanded, "Stop."

Looking at the couple kissing intensely, I took out my phone and started taking pictures.

I'm not sure when they became entangled, but the evidence of Bai Lai's infidelity was not to be disregarded.

"Xiuran, what if Yitang finds out?" Shen Weiwei's lipstick was smeared everywhere from his kisses.

Fang Xiuran held her hand: "If she knows, she knows. She is carrying my child, she can't leave me."

Hearing this, I felt sick to the bottom of my stomach. No wonder he is so fearless.

I held my belly, maybe it is a good thing, if I lost this child.

Does he think he can control me just because I was pregnant?

I turned to the nurse and said, “Let's go, be gentle."

On the way home, I arranged for a private investigator to follow them.

However, by the evening, I had gathered a wealth of evidence.

In the photos, Fang Xiuran and Shen Weiwei were dating at the place where he and I used to meet.

Shen Weiwei was wearing a dress that Fang Xiuran had given her.

I also have an identical dress.

The bag she carried was just like the one I received some time ago.

Seeing all these, my heart grew colder.

It turns out there were already traces to follow.

When did it all start? Was it the first time he worked late into the night or was it when he hung up on me?

Or was it when he introduced me to this new employee, who caught his eye?

But it doesn't matter anymore.

Having had his secret affair exposed, Fang Xiuran should pay the price.

I quickly uploaded the photo of Fang Xiuran and Shen Weiwei kissing onto the company's group chat and closed my phone.

Incoming calls streamed but I ignored them, not showing the slightest sign of panic.

After half an hour, the ward door was flung open.

Fang Xiuran entered the room, looking slightly flustered, and said to me: "This is all a misunderstanding. Why did you post this in the company group? How is Weiwei going to work in the company in the future?"

Fang Xiuran's instinctive deflection of responsibility made me feel disgusted.

Defending Shen Weiwei blindly, yet criticizing me in turn.

"Weiwei? Sounds quite intimate coming from you."

Fang Xiuran was momentarily stunned before he continued: "If you clarify in the group that this is all a misunderstanding, I will explain our relationship to you."

"What's there to explain? Should I explain why she's wearing the same clothes and carrying the same bag as me? Or why you were out on a date and kissing her when I was sick?"

Fang Xiuran frustratingly ran his fingers through his hair: "Lin Yitang, which man doesn't have a few close female friends? If you don't like it, I'll cut ties with them now. You don't have to make a fuss about it."

"My parents divorced and my father never found another woman, but you, you are disgustingly filthy."

Fang Xiuran opened his mouth, attempting to speak, yet I bluntly interrupted him: "Fang Xiuran, let's get a divorce. Right now."

I placed the printed divorce agreement in front of him.

Fang Xiuran stared at the agreement, finally realizing that I really wanted to divorce him.

Fang Xiuran's breath hitched: "No, I don't agree. If you leave me, who will take care of you?"

I sneered inwardly. The wealth my father left me was quite substantial.

Fang Xiuran seemed to realize this too. He grabbed my hand: "For the sake of the child in your belly, you can't divorce. Do you want to be like your selfish mother? Abandoning her husband and child for her own desires."

I was rocked by Fang Xiuran's explosive remark.

"Fang Xiuran, are you okay?"

"First of all, you are the one who cheated, so it stands to reason that I should divorce you. Secondly, my mother is not selfish at all. It's her freedom to be with whoever she wants and to divorce whoever she wants.”

My father didn't say anything about it, compared to him what would Fang Xiuran account for!

Fang Xiuran mumbled, completely ignoring my words.

"No, we can't get a divorce."

I stared at him obstinately, prepared to drag this out with him.

After all, the child was already gone. I was in no rush or panic.
