"Hey Hikari," some guy greets him as he struggles to keep his books in his hands. He was heading to his locker down the hall, one of the last ones in that direction when everybody he passes called out his name.
He was pretty popular for a guy that never speaks even getting mistaken as a mute kid because he never spoke at school or any public places making him a target for overly sensitive people who wanted to vent to him.
He gives a head nod of recognition and a smile to the guy before rushing off to his locker as his books started to slip out of his grip.
"Let me help you," Chase, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, golden boy catches all of Hikari's belongings before they hit the ground. Chase is known for being a very nice kid, one that gets good grades and never complains about anything. From time to time he would often volunteer to help teachers and others for free.
"Here you go," he hands Hikari his textbooks and receives a smile. "I'm going to take that as a thank you," Chase playful says knowing Hikari doesn't speak, and Hikari bows to him showing his gratitude.
"No need for that, if you want to thank me how about we go out for a coffee some time," the smile on Chase's face beams as he waits for an answer. Hikari was flattered as he turned red a little but he looked away too fast for anyone to tell and shook his head from side to side. "No? Okay, maybe next time then."
With that Chase was running off to his soccer teammates down the hall as Hikari is finally able to open his locker to throw his books inside.
"This whole week is a mess," Hikari thinks to himself slamming his locker shut. "This week my emotions have been everywhere and that can only mean one thing and that is- it's almost time for a full moon." Hikari travels back down the hall in the direction of his class with only a notebook and a pencil in his hand.
"I'll be fine but my parents are the ones I need to worry about," he continues to think as he takes a seat in his first class of the day which was History. "Last time I didn't secure them correctly in their bedrooms and my mom almost harmed someone and if that happens again we will have to move, this is so stressful," Hikari buries his face in his hands taking an internal breath.
Things weren't going as planned for him as he always had to watch his parents transform instead of doing what he loved which was being out in nature, taking photos, and just breathing peacefully with an empty mind but at the moment he couldn't stop thinking about future events until he smelled something weird that made him looked up.
"Class we have a transfer student the first this year," Mr. Maddy pats the poor boy's back as hard as he could, "Where are you from- scratch that- just introduce yourself to the class," the student nods before stepping forward.
"My name is Johan and I'm from Korea- Seoul, Korea"
"Excellent," Mr. Maddy claps "Now that's over, please have a seat next to Oliver- Oliver raise your hand," the kid in the back of the class raises his hand. Oliver is a very loud kid but today he was quiet, rocking back and forth in his seat trying not to explode. He was the second prettiest boy after Chase, his cousin. He had brown hair, blue eyes, and dimples and people tended to flock to him more as he was easier to speak to, as he joked around a lot. He had great humor and could make anyone smile.
"Right here," Oliver's hand flies up as he yells to Johan, and Johan bows at the teacher before walking over to his seat passing Hikari in the process where the smell gets stronger. It didn't smell bad it was just strange like a mix of different fruits and strong cologne all at once. It was very weird and not quite human either more animal-like, as they both made eye contact as he passes. It was intense and continued until Johan sat on the opposite side of the room where Hikari snapped out of it to face forward.
He was sure that the smell was one of his kind, a wolf, but a wolf shouldn't be in his territory. If he was a lone wolf he was in danger either way, in Hikari's territory or in someone else's but either way, he didn't belong to anyone. Hikari began to suspect that Johan and his parents wanted to take over what he and his parents built.
"Dang! Now I have more things to stress about," Hikari thinks to himself as the class finishes. He picks up his notebook and pencil before standing to his feet to leave but Oliver runs over towards him before he could, dragging Johan with him.
"Hey Hikari, meet Johan," Oliver waves, and Johan follows giving a small wave, "Hikari doesn't talk but he is super nice." Hikari only smiles at Oliver's statement before shaking his head trying to leave the class but Oliver keeps going.
"Also you can talk to Hikari about anything and he doesn't rat you out to anyone or judge that's why he is so popular around here"
"Oh cool I'll keep that in mind," Johan says trying to be friendly but Hikari was over it as he pushes his way past the two boys keeping a smile on his face before stopping at the door to turn around and wave goodbye before he left so he wouldn't leave any bad memories.
He had one job to do and that was to get home to inform his parents about a new wolf in town.
