I JUST KILLED A MAN
prologue:
"babe, you need to calm down. We can talk this through." His voice was shaky but she was lost, she didn't hear anything except the voice in her head saying "KILL KILL"
And that was what she did, she killed him. With her index finger, Jeiel pulled the trigger of the pistol in her hand, aimed perfectly for his heart, there was no way he was coming out of this alive,
"GBOA!!!" the sound of a gunshot filled the air and down went Jayden. his last words were "I still love you."
The smell of gunpowder filled the air the next moment. Passing her fingers through her hair, she looked down at the dead guy's body and laughed, like a crazy fellow. Maybe she had gone crazy of she was this close to losing her mind.
She put her hand in her pocket and brought out her phone. She dialed the police hotline. A lady officer answered the call.
"This is the police, How can I help you"
Jeiel was silent for a while. During that silence she brought the gun close to her tempo.
then she spoke softly into the phone
"I JUST SHOT A MAN"
she hung up and pulled the trigger
"Jayden, don't go to far. I'm coming"
She released the trigger and well.
you guessd right! down she went.
Jeiel Adewuyi killed herself and her lover.
I JUST KILLED A MAN
Page One.
It all started on a sunny Tuesday morning in October. The nation wasn't at it's most peaceful state, in fact there was no peace at all. Jeiel didn't know it was that bad, maybe if she did she would have stayed home on that fateful Tuesday. Anyways she didn't stay home but instead left the house to go to the place where she worked as a tailor's apprentice.
She sat for the West African SecondarySchool Certificate Examination last year and she passed. She wrote the UTME earlier this year and also passed, thoshe didn't get the results she desired. One might call her a geek or a nerd but she does not mind because it is who she is.
Universities hadn't begun admission processes so Jeiel had asked her mother to enrol her somewhere to acquire a skill, She had a creative mind so she opted to be a tailor's apprentice.
That morning, she stood at the bus stop for more than fifteen minutes but no buses were stopping to pick up passengers. She decided to walk a bit further to the next bus stop but on getting their some youths had blocked the main road.
'Oh i guess there is a protest, no wonder there were no buses' She said to herself.
One part of her said to go back home, the other said to walk the distance to her work place.
"It's not that far"
She decided to walk to work that very day.
She was only 17 years old but she had already gotten used to getting cat calls from guys whenever she walked past them. It made her feel uncomfortable, but there was not much she could do. Almost all the time she ignored the calls.
That morning was no different, she got a lot of cat calls but ignored them as much as possible. This one guy was persistent and wouldn't let her be till he got her number, she did give it to him but that was just so he could let her be, and it worked.
She continued her journey, she stupidly thought to take a shortcut so as to get to work on time. This shortcut was a quiet street but she didn't mind. She was halfway into the street when she ran into a group of boys/men/guys/whatever described them. The boys surrounded her and whistled in uncomfortable manners that made her cringe. Counting with her eyes, there was about five boys.
She tried to ignore them and walk away but one of them grabbed her arm and pulled her into his embrace
"My God!" She cried. She had been assaulted by the stench coming from his pits 'When was the last time this person took a bath?' She managed to ask herself despite her situation.
"You are pretty, you know?" the guy said. Jeiel felt like dying at this point. his breath smelled like locust beans mixed with dry gin.
She stuggled to release herself from his grip and he finally let go of her, that's when she noticed the others were looking at her like she was some kind of meal.
"Oh goodness!" she exclaimed silently
Their attention left her for a while and they focused on a guy, about 19 years of age, neatly dressed. He just stepped out of a car parked few meters away.
"Let her go" The newcomer calmly said and took in a drag of the cigaretted dangling between his lips.
Not waiting a second longer, Jeiel took to her heels and ran, faster than Usain Bolt out of the street. She didn't stop running till she got to work.
After that incident, she swore never to take shortcuts no matter how long the journey was.
