Chan

Chan was confused as he looked around. He and his mother had flown from the U.S back to Thailand.

"What was the point?" Five—year—old Chan questioned. Normally his father would fly them out with a dozen men to guard them. Chan didn't really understand why it was but his mother continued to say that he would one day be the leader of their Clan. Chan didn't really understand what that meant. All he knew was that there was always someone watching him. When he played, while he ate, even while he slept. He had no friends. His mother would not allow him to associate with lower—ranked werewolves. He was homeschooled and not allowed to see anyone. All Chan ever did was play on his own or with a few maids.

His father had moved him and his mother to America. At least until Chan had finally shifted for the first time. This had been just a few short weeks ago. He was sure that his father had talked about moving but Chan wondered why he was not allowed to take any of his toys with him.

"This will be a quick trip. Let's not tell your father." The guards had been left back in America and his mother had not taken the private plane which they owned. They'd flown using names that Chan did not recognize and his mother had used a perfume she'd bought of someone to hide their scent and rank. They'd spent the night at a place called a motel and in the morning his mother had gone out and gotten him some breakfast.

Chan was not done with his breakfast but his mother had ushered him out the door and towards an empty park. There were many things that caught Chan's attention. There was a sandbox, swings, a slide, a see—saw, and some monkey bars. Chan wished to rush out and play. His mother, however, sat him on the bench.

"You wait here. I'll come get you. Don't move."

"Yes. Mai." Chan watched his mother go and he found himself looking around only while swinging his feet from side to side. He was never really patient when it came to waiting. Chan was used to getting his way and although he was lonely, he was a spoiled child anyway.

Chan contemplated on whether or not he should get up. He was sure his mother would be upset with him if she did not find him where she left him. However, there was so much to explore. He was sure his mother had left the park as he found himself alone. Biting his lip Chan decided to stay put for five more seconds. If his mother did not return then he would simply get up and go play.

Closing his eyes silently, Chan began to count slowly in his head.

"One...two...three... What's that smell?" Chan's nose caught the soft smell of strawberries...pink milk? Maybe something even sweeter. It was a scent that was calling to him and made his feet move on their own accord. His little heart began to pound so loudly and he could feel his wolf ears poke out from under his hair. Following his nose, Chan followed the sweet scent until he saw a small boy standing in the middle of the park. His dark hair and chubby cheeks made him look adorable. The smaller boy looked frightened, his eyes expressed worry, his bottom lip quivered, and yet there was the prettiest blush on his cheeks that Chan had ever seen.

With a single glance, Chan knew who this was. Mate. And he smelled terrific.

Son

Son was only eight years old but his life was anything but simple. His father hated him, his mother hardly looked at him, and all because he was different. At first, Son did not understand the meaning of an omega. Most people which looked at him on the street often stared, some would glare, while others simply ignored him. During school, his classmates would look down on him and there was not one day where he would not be kicked or beaten at school or at home.

His father was third in the Korean Clan, making him one of the strongest in all of the clan. When Son had been born an omega, it was a great shame that his father bared. His mother, who was one of the most beautiful amongst the clans had been shunned away by everyone. In the end, Son knew he was not loved.

Son was small, smaller than anyone his age. Even the younger, children showed displeasure when he was around. Son had stopped fighting long ago. He had no hope for the future and only wished for his parents to love him. Then, of course, there was that person. His mate. When they had learned about mates in school Son finally felt some hope. At the same time, he worried. It was said that an omega would never be able to find a mate. They were of the lowest ranks and very rarely did they ever exist. Unlike other wolves, omegas were only meant to serve the clan. But Son was useless. Young wolves were meant to shift at the ripe age of five. Son was the only one in his Clan who had never once shifted.

Not once did Son feel the call of the moon. Not once did Son shift into his wolf form. He was beyond useless. His father and mother had taken him to several doctors. Many methods had been tried but it seemed as though nothing would work. His father had tried forcing him to change. In the end, Son was almost beaten to death.

Currently, Son was walking with his mother hand in hand. It had been the first time that Son could ever remember his mother holding on to him. They were in his mother's homeland Thailand. Leading up to this trip, both his father and mother had been whispering about something which Son could not understand. A week prior they'd snuck him out of the house. His father had taken him to an abandoned cabin in the outskirts of their Clan's land. This had happened after they received a call one night which had sent them into a panic. It seemed like he had done something wrong because his father beat him with the belt and blamed him for things Son could not understand. They'd pulled at his ear and his mother had gasped and continued to say "It can't be." Son wasn't sure what that was but... his father called him a strange word that started with an F.

"How is this possible. The change didn't happen." His mother kept repeating. In the end, he was taken away on his own and when his mother came to get him, she was dressed in an all—white hanbok. She appeared to have been crying and Son wondered what had happened. As usual, he was told nothing and was surprised to get on a plane to Thailand with his mother.

He was smuggled into a hotel by being stuffed inside a large suitcase his mother had bought. He was carried in and carried out that way and once they were out of the hotel his mother took his hand silently. They walked for a while his mother stopped at a stall and bought him some bread. She did not wait for him to finish simply had him walk with her while he ate until they came to a stop in front of a park.

There was a woman standing there. She wore elegant clothing but was covering her face with a scarf, though her eyes were piercing and intimidating. Son wanted to hide behind his mother who simply pushed him forward. The woman looked down at Son condescendingly and proceeded to pull him by the ear. Wincing and making a soft whimpering noise Son looked back at his mother who did not look back at him.

"Let us talk. Leave him here they should at least have one day together." Son could not understand the women's' words. Even so, his mother did not hesitate to leave him. Just like that Son was left alone. Son did not want his mother to leave him. Watching her go he wanted to follow after her. While his heart was racing in panic Son knew that he would get into trouble for going after his mother. She did not tell him if she was coming back, nor did she say she was leaving him.

Before long, tears had begun to fall from Son's eyes. More so when he realized he was alone. Wiping them away, he simply stood in the middle of the park unsure of what to do. He had not been waiting that long when he smelled it. Vanilla. The scent was soft and calming. Son could see a boy that was much taller than he was. His skin was tan and when he looked at him, his smile made Son feel different. He felt more nervous, the closer the boy got. His heart began to thump so loud; he could hear it pound through his ears.

The boy was only a few inches away from him. He seemed to be smelling the air and when Son looked at his wolf ears begin to come out, he grew fearful. Before he could take a step back the boy grabbed his arm. Panicked Son looked at the boy and struggled to break free.
