  RAIN

“Good morning!” my mom greeted when I entered our kitchen, she's wearing an apron and holding a tong in her right hands.

“Good morning,” I simply answered. I sat on the chair and took a cup of tea she made.

“How's your sleep, honey?” she asked facing the refrigerator to get whatever she wanted.

  “Good,” coldly answered.

This is just me, and I don't really care. I don't usually speaks a lot about something or whatever. I just answered the questions frankly.

“O-Okay, let's eat first before we headed to the place.” I nodded as an answered.

Only the two of us lives in this house because my father died in an accident. He was young as well as my mother but that's his fate, and no one will ever stop the fate you will face. The only thing we can do is to accept everything that happens.

“Are you ready?” she asked as I entered the car. She started the engine excitedly.

“Not really.” I rolled my eyes in irritation. Why is she asking me that question? Do I look like I'm excited meeting her soon-to-be husband?

“Just pretend that you wanted to meet them, don't make a mess, Rain.” I didn't answer her.

I put my seat belt and look at the window. Couldn't help but to feel anger at her. She never asked me about marrying this guy she said. She just told me that there's someone who she wanted to marry and now they're engaged.

I keep myself shut until we arrived at a restaurant near at Green Hoods University where I studied in college. She parked and I followed her inside the restaurant.

Mom wearing her formal red dress that suits her like an hourglass body, a light make up and a pair of red heels. She's beautiful even she's in her thirty-three years of age.

The place has a beautiful ambiance. There's a lot of round tables at the center and squared tables in the corner of the restaurant near at the glass wall, where you can see people outside.

“There they are,” she whispered and walked at the center.

I followed her until we reached the squared table. There are two guys sitting on the chair, looking at us. One of them was smiling looking at us, when he saw us he immediately stood up.

  “Hey!” Mom greeted them.

I just stood on the side as I watched them both. The man kissed her on the cheek and made her sit next to him.

“What are you doing there? Sit next to–”

“Armando,” replied the man sitting quietly in front of them. He was staring at the floor that I couldn't see his face.

“Yes, Armando. Now, Rain sit beside your soon-to-be stepbrother.”

I didn't answer her, I just followed what she said. I don't like when I answer her, she might say I have no respect anymore. Why did she even include me here?

Maybe it would have been better if she had just left me at home so that she would not have any more problems.

“Anyways, Arnold, this is my son Rain and Rain, this is Arnold, your stepfather. Oh, soon-to-be.” She laughed at what she said.

I looked at the man he was referring to. He's handsome. But it still can't match to my father. My father has white pair skin and a blue eyes whilst this man in front of me that sitting beside my mom, he has brown pair skin colored with a gray deep eyes.

“Hi,” I simply said and smiled at him. I don't want to be rude.

“Hi, Rain. Nice to meet you and that man beside you was my Son, Armando.” I turn my head into my side and look at the guy who's still looking at the ground.

What's up with him? Why is he looking at the floor? Are there any weird thing in that?

He moved as he slowly raised his head. He looked at me causing the surroundings to stop. I could not understand why time stopped when I looked into his eyes.

He has this dark deep gray pair of eyes that could melt you. Lips that could tempt you and a pointed nose.

“He barely talked since his mother died but don't worry, he'll kind,” Armando's father said out of nowhere.

“So, this means he's the opposite of my son. My son is noisy so sometimes I just want to put a stapler in his mouth because he's disrespecting me,” my mom said.

I quickly looked away from the man in front of me. The two of us stared at each other for a long time, so I didn't realize that the two person in front were talking like we're not here.

Fortunately, they did not talk. A waiter approached, and we told him the order we wanted. The price of the food they prepare here is staggering. So, I looked at my mother who was also looking right at me.

“I-I don't know what to eat, actually. The food here is so expensive that we couldn't afford even their drinks,” I said.

Arnold, my soon-to-be stepfather, look at me. He smiled like he was amused by what I said. I am telling them the truth. We're not rich so it's honestly, we can't afford the foods here.

“You can choose whatever you wanted to eat. Don't mind the price of it because I am the one who's paying,” he answered.

I just nodded as an answer. I just told the waiter standing next to me. What I wanted to, and he immediately lists on the paper he was holding. After that he also left to cook or prepare the food we ordered.

The waiter left our table. They started talking again a random thing they wanted to think. I look at my wrist watch and saw the time was ten minutes before eleven in the morning.

“By the way.” I raise my head to look at Arnold who speaks. “You and your son will be living with us.”
