I’m starting to think that my computer is infected with something. I’m reaching out here hoping that someone who knows about computers can give me some advice or help or something.
I was playing Warzone a couple weeks ago when my internet cut out. Every player in the game started jumping around until they all just froze in place. I guess I wasn’t getting any more info from the game server on where players were, so my computer just gave up and kept them in the same place.
The weird thing is that normally I would get kicked out of the game and it would tell me that I had lost my internet connection. That’s what I think is supposed to happen. But it didn’t happen this time.
I was able to freely walk around the game still, all the players kept in place. I shot at a few, but it didn’t do anything except show a blood spurting animation. I decided to explore the map a little more without the pressure of players and the moving gas. Maybe I could find some good places to snipe from, I figured.
All of a sudden, a warning popped up on my screen.
PLAYER INCOMING
In Warzone, this means someone is parachuting above you and will get the drop on you. I immediately looked up to find there was a player coming in hot, right at me.
I started shooting, and they started dodging and weaving from side-to-side. I’m not a very good shot, and I missed most, but I did manage to hit him a couple of times, breaking his armor plating.
He landed not far from me, and the second his feet touched the ground, I died. I stared at my screen in disbelief, watching as a single bullet from his gun flew at my head and one-shotted me. Which shouldn’t be possible because he was equipped with a pistol.
The guy came out of nowhere and one-shotted me.
Right as he killed me, the game disconnected from the match and told me I had no internet.
It was super weird, but eventually I got over it. When my internet was back up, I jumped back in and kept playing. I soon laughed it off as just a cool story to tell my friends.
A couple days later, I was playing some Minecraft when the blocks around me suddenly started disappearing and my health plummeted. I started freaking out and looking around, wondering if some TNT had gone off somewhere and the sound just hadn’t played.
Instead I was greeted with the face of an Ender dragon. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a dragon that is a type of end-boss in Minecraft. It’s super powerful, and only spawns in a specific realm you have to make a portal to get to.
I was in the overworld, where all the grass and trees are. Yet here was this end-game boss destroying my house. It killed me soon after that, and I respawned back to watch that Ender dragon completely destroy the farm I had created for myself. On the mountainous ridge above my farm, I saw another character like mine staring down at the farm and just watching.
They left a few seconds later, going down the other side of the mountain and out of my sight.
I hadn’t saved the game, so I was able to just exit and go back in to get everything back the way it was. When an Ender dragon didn’t attack again, I figured it was just another glitch.
This all came back into my mind after last night.
I was playing Apex Legends with two random teammates. We were running through a map called King’s Canyon at Night, where it takes the regular map and just makes it nighttime and spookier. They did it for Halloween, and sometimes the game lets people play in the creepy version of the map for fun.
Anyway, I was running along looking for weapons and ammo for me and my two teammates when I looked at the minimap and saw that my teammates were way far behind me. I opened the map to see that they were just standing still. I figured they must have both gone AFK, so I ran back toward them to protect them if an enemy showed up.
I was trying to punch their characters toward the ring so they wouldn’t die, when I heard another player use their ultimate. There’s a character called Bloodhound whose special ability is the ability to see other players outlined in red and show their footsteps. When they activate their ultimate, they scream “I AM BLOODHUNTER!” and roar. Bloodhound becomes an absolute monster when they use their ultimate ability, and here I was alone with two teammates who weren’t moving.
I ran away from them to get onto a building so I could have high ground while we were fighting. It was dark all across the map, and I was having a hard time seeing anyone out there. My view suddenly went orange as Bloodhound scanned me.
One of their abilities lets them scan the environment and highlight enemies for their team.
So, they knew where I was.
